If you are in the business of studying links either as an amateur or for a living, Bitly can be your go to tool!

One of the easiest app recommendations I can make. If your website has abnormally long links or you need to have good analytics on your links there is no better tool in my opinion. I used Bitly extensively for academic work and it was an indispensable tool to report to my board about the performance of the academic posts I was putting up. Link performance based on time and geographical locations allowed me to fine tune the posts that were being published. The easy integration with Buffer also allowed me to publish and shorten links at the same time.

This is one app I cannot say had a weak spot for me.

I used to use another url shortening service, but then I found Bitly and registered my account there. One day I faced some technical issues with the previous service and I decided to try Bitly. And trust me, I was amazed to find it very user friendly. Bitly has become more user friendly and powerful if we compare it from the past 2 years when I started using it. We use bitly in all kinds of contexts. Putting long links in Youtube descriptions, for example, takes up way too much space, so using bitly is perfect--and a better experience for the user. We've also used it in the classroom when teaching and training. We give the students a bitly link on the white-board to go to for key online information or to review the training. Makes things easier for our clients and us!

The links seem to be case sensitive, which isn't made clear when you set the links up. Be aware of this when you create links people may need to type into their phone/laptop (like links you put on physical marketing materials). People will probably not type in the various capital letters you put in your link and your link may not work. All that said, it's very simple and works. And it's free!--for most of the basic stuff, anyway. Using "bitly" may not always be a great branding option for your link needs--but that's where the paid version will help you create branded links to your heart's content.

It does exactly what it is meant to do which is primarily shorten URLs. For content creators and social media managers, it offers much more in their paid tiers. But for me, as an academic, I use Bitly all the time to shorten very long and ugly URLs pointing to journal articles, various items to purchase, among others. It keeps an email clean when you have a list of short URLs to share with your colleagues instead of links that spill over into several lines. This is also very important when sharing URLs on presentation slides. The QR code feature is also very handy for these reasons as well. Even in the free plan, you can get a count of how many clicks went through the URL. This is enough for me as an academic, it shows if any of the links I featured in my slides, etc. were actually visited by anyone. For content creators, you might need more than that and I believe their paid plans do just that. As far as I know, it also doesn't

I don't have anything bad to say about Bitly. For my purposes, it does the job and I don't really need much from it aside being an ad-free URL shortener and click count tracker.

I've been using Bitly for the last three years now and haven't found a better link shortening tool. It's very easy to use, has a clean interface, and has all the analytics I need right there in one place. I can tell whether my links are going viral or not just by looking at the analytics. Bitly is a great tool and I love it!

When shortening a link with random characters, it makes it very short, so any subsequent QR codes are simple and not very complex. Complex QR codes are harder to scan.

No way to make multiple accounts part of an organization without going with the enterprise option.

Overall, great experience with Bit.ly! Will continue to use it and haven't found a worthy competitor. It's very affordable with great features. A few bugs sometimes but nothing detrimental. I've used Bitly for a very long time for multiple companies. It's worth being able to have a short link that clients and consumers can use. I LOVE that you're able to create trackable QR Codes now. I love that you're able to track the analytics thoroughly now. It used to be where you can only see link clicks but now you can see the sources of the link clicks including sites and countries. It's very easy to use. I use Bit.ly daily!

Sometimes there is a bug where if you change the title with the initial link input - it doesn't always keep the title change and you have to go back and edit the link title. If you're creating a custom back-half without branding - a lot of times the custom back-half is already taken and you're not able to use it. It's worth paying for the upgrade for the branding aspect.

Overall, my experience with Bitly is great, as it is the main platform I use for shorten URL links. I am using the free account and the features offered on this version are very accessible and reliable. The value-for-money is just perfect and the possibility to customize links is indeed a must! We have been using Bitly in all kinds of contexts. Our website blogs are in such shape that we have to keep the links longer and that is where Bitly comes and helps us in shortening the links and sharing them across. Apart from that, it's a great tool to share links on Social Channels and Emails. And, there are a few times that we have to see what campaign/social post got the most number of clicks - that is when the analytics feature come in handy and helps us in understanding what post performed the best. I do not think I am ever going to find a replacement for this tool.

I really like the way it is already built but if only I have to tell some con - It'd be the pricing. If it can be lowered down a little then it would really be helpful for a lot of freelancers and companies.

What I saw of the negatives is that it also remains a link shortening site, which seems bad for communication sites such as Facebook and reddit, so from my personal point of view the most negative point is that it is not good to use in all sites, but this does not prevent it from being one of the best link shortening sites on the Internet

Using Bitly has been a great experience!

I love how this software condenses a long web address into a much more convenient link. The shorter the better and the easier to publicize. I love that the software is free, easy to use, and keeps track of all of my created Bitly links. I can reuse links instead of recreating them, bettering the analytical data.

I dislike that sometimes the link drops off and you have to recreate or reattach it in order for it to work. However, I think that glitch will be solve and doesn't occur that often.
