### Most mentioned pros

- online customer support so I don't have to sit on the phone is great; very nice to have all things in one system instead of one thing for inpatient management and another for charges etc
- Love the ability to generate drug doses based on patient weight, flag doses that may be inappropriate, and ability to pull up plumbs page for a given drug in plumbs.
- There is a robust self training program available for new team members that gets them up to speed quickly and great product support anytime we have questions.

### Most mentioned cons

- i.e. when you attach an auto charge it can be difficult to capture the charge appropriately if the treatment is marked off sooner or later than scheduled
- No sync with our current pins software, can’t integrate directly so costs don’t cover over which is tough.
- The latest version is difficult to visualize current visit and what has been completed vs pending documents

Excellent - see above. I have really only positive things to say.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I consider myself somewhat of a power user so I tend to be very critical of software but I have been really pleasantly surprised with the functionality and well-thought out nature of the program. I feel that I have already gained quite a bit of efficiency in my charting since making the transition a few weeks ago from our old platform (Impromed Infinity). Unlike other software that I have used or demo'd, Instinct feels fresh and modern whereas most others have a very Windows 95 or DOS vibe. They are constantly adding new features and seem genuinely receptive to feedback and to be striving to make the product better all the time. The platform is very responsive, works well on mobile devices and both mac/PC, and I love the cloud aspect of it. It's been a huge benefit to not have to maintain a local server and backup. It is highly customizable and generally intuitive and even fun to use. Switching EMRs is usually a highly stressful event for a veterinary staff (I have experienced this a few times in the past) and I feel like this transition has been super smooth and relatively painless. The reason that we switched to Instinct in the first place is the excellent functionality of their digital treatment board. Really this part of the software is unique in the market and no other company is even close. It allowed us, even in a 24/7 ER setting, to go completely paperless with our treatment/flow sheets and the staff finds it very easy to use. The thing that I am most excited about as a business owner is the ability to capture/recapture missed charges now that we have full integration of the treatment board and invoicing. I have also been thrilled with the responsiveness and availability of the support - this is probably among my favorite features. You get nearly immediate chat support 24/7! I'm excited to see the new features that lay ahead!

#### Cons

Like any program, there are a few minor bugs but the team is generally quite responsive to these. There are also a few fairly standard features that are missing from the charting section but I am confident that these will be fixed/added in the near future. I have some worries about what happens if we lose internet connection since there is no local copy but with fiber and battery backup, this is mostly a theoretical concern.

#### Reasons for choosing Instinct Science

Much better functionality and the potential to add full EMR in the future. I also like they they are an independent company and seem hungry.

#### Reasons for switching to Instinct Science

The digital treatment board was the primary motivation but we were tired of using a software platform that basically stopped improving a decade ago and with terrible customer support.

Overall experience 10/10 and we are almost at 5 years with the EMR version. I could cover most everything in 45 minutes with a new doctor and they all felt that it was very intuitive. Missed charges are very infrequent due to the full EMR version . The team is also very responsive to requests for help as well.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

We opened a new ER with all new equipment and a new software to all of us. This PIMS has been the easiest to use, and the easiest ti train relief doctors on.

#### Cons

Not a real con, but I would love the options for label printers to be expanded . Dymo software is a pain

#### Reasons for choosing Instinct Science

Better treatment sheet and full EMR. The treatment sheet seemed very easy to set up and document treatments, and then have them invoiced at the same time

I find the integration with our Idexx send out labs to be very easy to navigate. I also like the updated anesthetic monitoring sheet. The inpatient/outpatient/boarding patient flow is easy to navigate

#### Cons

The new scheduling interface I was not a fan of but your team has so far allowed different users to keep the older option which I appreciate.

#### Cons

Very happy with this EMR system. The program is easy to use and even new functions tend to be very intuitive (millennial over here). Very responsive customer support. They seem to really care about the clinic's experience in using the program.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Very intuitive to use. Very adaptive, responsive to requests for changes within program. Ability to have preloaded templates for specific procedures or conditions to load into estimate and/or treatment plan. Love the ability to generate drug doses based on patient weight, flag doses that may be inappropriate, and ability to pull up plumbs page for a given drug in plumbs.

#### Cons

Suspect most of my frustrations are with our personal setup vs. inherently in Instinct. Same list of line items for treatment sheets and invoice. Sometimes we have multiple similarly named line items because we have different item names for the treatment sheet (e.g. ECG hourly) that we don't want to have charged to the invoice as 12 separate items each hour during the shift, so then we have an ECG hourly per 12 hour charge. Wish that some treatments completed in treatment sheet would auto populate in initial exam document so that dose, route, time was logged without having to be manually typed in.

#### Reasons for switching to Instinct Science

Already using Instinct for inpatient treatment plans, goal was to integrate this with full patient record system.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Cons

Some things isn't too easy. For example if i need to alter the time. Sometimes it only allows 15 min intervals.

#### Reasons for switching to Instinct Science

From the initial onboarding to present our experience has been fabulous, always bumps in the road during a huge change in a hospital, but Instinct was there to help us the ENTIRE time, not to mention, we are able to reach out and chat with any of them at any time - via email or chat! This is what makes the biggest difference.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

We have seen significant workflow improvement, capturing previously missed charges, and the best part is that Instinct is incredibly user friendly and easy to navigate. Their customer service cannot be beat!

#### Cons

We honestly don't have anything we dislike, like any program, every hospital uses PM software differently, it's very flexible.

#### Reasons for choosing Instinct Science

It still looked and felt 'old' compared to Instinct, and it still would have been 2 platforms vs the single platform with Instinct

#### Reasons for switching to Instinct Science

We needed digital treatment sheets, so we went with Instinct (thank goodness smart flow wasn't available at the time), and after a few years with the treatment sheets, we wanted a cloud based PM software, and Instinct seemed like the natural choice

Overall, it is a very user friendly, time efficient medical record with a solid treatment sheet. Built in access to drug calculator and Plumbs are extremely helpful.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I've only used this in the clinical setting- not for data capture or billing purposes. This is my second favorite veterinary medical records platform, after EzyVet. I've used everything from DVMaxx, VMACS, a literal typewriter, Impromed, AIS, and the much hated Cornerstone. Instinct's medical record and treatment sheet interfaces work well, even in the hectic ER. We are able to set up templates for data entry and bundled treatments which are great help with efficiency. The medication calculator is a literal lifesaver. So many medical errors have avoided with this one feature. Ease of e mailing, and the ability to copy/paste, and use snippets are excellent.

#### Cons

Seriously, though. What is with the breed abbreviations? So confusing.... I'd love the thumbnail feature that EzyVet has, linking rad and US images to the medical record. I'd also like a cat or dog icon (or bearded dragon, we don't judge) to help quickly help identify species.

#### Reasons for switching to Instinct Science

Needed a larger database and more versatile treatment sheet

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

Instinct is the most modern veterinary software I have used. It looks nice and is very user friendly. The treatment board is awesome, super easy to use and helps calculate doses. The best part is that it is always getting better and the team takes your feedback into account!

#### Cons

There are some bugs that still need to be worked out and improved on, however, as noted above, that is always improving with instinct! Unlike other softwares that haven't changed in years!

#### Reasons for switching to Instinct Science

Impromed was like using windows 98. We used instinct treatment board first and then wanted to get on the full EMR

Instinct has kept pace with our round-the-clock workflow. Day-to-day tasks—from triage to lab integration—are smooth, and the support team is responsive and open to feedback. A few features (cash handling, patient photos, integration with IDEXX Web PACS, deeper provider analytics) would make it perfect, but the current product is robust and clearly evolving in the right direction.

#### Pros

Intuitive triage flows and whiteboard that suit a 24/7 GP + ER clinic Medical records are quick for doctors and techs to update on the fly Same-day support ticket responses Smooth integrations pull IDEXX and in-house lab results straight into the chart

#### Cons

No built-in cash window: we must add manual notes for “amount tendered / change given” Lacks patient-photo capture/display for quick ID on the whiteboard Voiding a cash payment skips a journal entry; staff must remember to use “Return” instead Provider-summary reports need deeper drill-downs despite the much-improved Dashboard

Instinct Treatment Sheet is the best in the business and miles ahead of competitors. Safety measures built into the system are an big advantage. Plumb integration is tremendous and very valuable. Excited about the ePrescribing (although I haven't had the opportunity to learn much about it) as I think it'll further allow us to operate more efficiently. Instinct Med Record is intuitive and customizable to the needs of the practice.

#### Cons

I wish our hospital was able to better integrate with the Instinct suite of products. We are a large hospital that does not utilize major outside labs and imaging services. I do not see this as an Instinct problem and see it more as a problem on our end.

#### Pros

Easy to use even without much training. People who have not used anything like instinct can usually catch on quickly.

#### Cons

Sometimes it freezes especially if too many people are on it. I wish that anyone could add things to the data base like alerts and treatments but management has to okay them so it takes more time. An example would be "deaf", if it isn't in the system already you have to ask for permission to load it and it would be easier if you could just add things as a normal user. It sometimes says medical terms are miss spelled but other than that I don't have too many complaints.
