Covetrus Online Pharmacy
Mostly, I love Covetrus. I do wish there was better communication between Covetrus and the compounding pharmacy. I like that we can place orders for compounded medications through Covetrus. It seems like there is a breakdown in communication when a product is not available or is on backorder. I would like to be kept in the loop along with the client about their pet's medications. We are the ones they will call in frustration when a medication is not available.
PROSWe like to give our clients a safe alternative for their pet's online pharmacy needs. With so many other pharmacies popping up, we know we can trust Covetrus. The software integrates into our veterinary software and we can see all of the prescriptions that are sent to our patients.
CONSI do wish there was a way to combine duplicate accounts. Often times, a client will have multiple accounts in error because the spouse originally signed up, email addresses change, forgot they had an account already, or just sign up for another account because they are unable to recover previous log in information.
Reason for choosing Covetrus vRxPro
At the time, Covetrus was the only one that would integrate with Cornerstone software. I understand there are other companies to choose from now.

Platform is not user friendly.
Our practice needs hands on training to best utilize this product. None was offered aside from some online tutorials.
PROSThe ability for clients to order product online to be delivered is critical.
CONSI do not find the platform to be user friendly or intuitive. As the manager who drove the change from our original online pharmacy to covetrus, I'd like to be happier with my decision.

In the description, it really seemed like an apples to apples changeover. Since we are an Avimark clinic, we thought the use of the Covetrus product would mesh better with our platform.

Covetrus review for a veterinary behavior practice
Overall, we have found that while it's nice to have our own pharmacy it tends to create more work with either having to call the client or Coetrus regularly to sort out the concerns listed above. I am praying that the software update resolves a lot of these concerns.
PROSHaving Covetrus has made handling prescirptions easier to some extend beacuse our clients can work directly through us and we can aprove presciprtions faster than through any other pharmacy. It is easy to see what is in stock, and view the client/patient medication history. That being said, there are a lot of features that make things much harder than they should be for both our clients and the practice, so I find myself frustrated regularly with the software.
CONS1. Clients have a hard time viewing recommended prescriptions/authorized refills. They regularly submit new requests when they already have medication approved in their account, which slows everything down.2. They also are confused when a request is declined, even though the email says there is an approved product waiting in their account. I think in this case, they aren't reading, which is on them, but perhaps that notification could be worded better.3. Autoship seems to have a mind of its own, or the clients are doing really weird things. Clients regularly end up with a surplus of meds due to the timing of the auto-shipments (even with controlled substances- I'm not even sure how that's possible).4. I don't like how you can't alter a script after it has been authorized. You have to archive and create a new script if there is a mistake.5. Allowing the client to choose by the bottle or by the pill throws things off because they either have a surplus or a shortage of medication. If they submit for a by-the-bottle quantity, we usually have to decline and remind them that there is a script waiting for the correct amount. Then they go to order and may make the same mistake again, slowing down the process further. 6. Secondary authorizations for controlled substances. I support this but some medications go through Roadrunner and they wait for the client to order before authorizing. This causes duplicate work.7. Chewy and Petmeds are cheaper so we lose clients to them.

Better for Business
I have been impressed with this software from day 1. I hope that the little concerns I have will be addressed in the future.
PROSHaving an online prescription option for our clients that is also connected with our hospital software is probably the best feature for this program. The program is very user friendly, and easily managed, once you get all the training
CONSThe one feature that is still missing is being able to do multiple prescriptions for one patient in one application. Currently we have to input one at a time and, therefore the client receives multiple emails to inform them a product is available for them. This is very confusing and frustrating for the client.

Though some of our clients still use VetSource to manage their online pharmacy needs, it in NO WAY compares to the ease of Covetrus' prescription management. That is why we stopped using them as our primary. Have not regretted that decision at all.

Keep those prescription dollars in your clinic!
Using Covetrus is especially nice for the products we don't want to carry in clinic. We can tell our clients that they can see their doctors recommendations and easily have them delivered straight to their home. It's an easy and effective way to prescribe and fulfill.
PROSBeing able to write the prescription and have it write back into Avimark is such a time saver! Also reduces opportunity for input error. Clients love the ease of ordering and home delivery. Letting clients know that the product can be trusted and is backed the same as if they purchased directly in clinic.
CONSThe only con is that it does not auto refresh when you return to the home page. If another request has come in, you would only know if you refresh the website.

Covetrus works better with Avimark, the writeback feature is such a positive feature.

Intergration is Important
The Covetrus team is friendly and easy to work with.
PROSWe love that it integrates with Cornerstone. When a client requests/fills a prescription we are able to see when it shipped and quantity. We don't have to check records and then enter data
CONSIt is difficult to stop a refill prescription that should not be sent due to different reasons (not valid VCPR). It seems that once a client has it on auto ship it continues to ship unless it is called into Covetrus.

Compounding Only
We only use the compounding component of the Rx management. They make it very easy to find the medication you need and all of the different forms it is available in. Again, we would love to use this as our general online pharmacy if given the opportunity. We love that it is easily integrated with our PIMS and our customers have been very satisfied with the services as well.
PROSWe currently only use the compounding component of the rx management. We love it and it is very easy to use. We would love to use it for all of our online pharmacy needs if given the opportunity from VetCor.
CONSI do not think we have used enough of the program to have any complaints at this time.

Love the functionality of the software, only one complaint
This gave us an option for clients who wanted to save money by purchasing online. Clients can save, but we know that they are still getting a safe product and the manufacturer's guarantee. Plus it allowed us to carry less inventory in the office, while still being able to offer all of the different preventions that are available.
PROSThe clear and easy functionality of the software is the best part. I can show a new user how to access and utilize the system very easily and it's pretty much a self-explanatory step by step process. The store is laid out well and clients are able to find products easily.
CONSOur only complaint has been with the customer service phone center having extremely long hold times. Multiple times clients have complained to us that they can't get through to the phone center. Personally, I've been on hold for over 45 minutes waiting for someone to answer. The staff are almost always extremely polite and helpful, just the wait times are horrendous.

Asset to our practice!
We are so happy with this service! It pays for itself in eliminating staff data entry and allows us so many options to make scheduling easy for our clients. Our clients often say how impressed they are with how easy it is for them to use and it makes us look good :)
PROSIt provides our staff time to focus on our patients by effectively providing a large variety of time consuming tasks. We do all of our reminders, confirmations, text messaging, online prescriptions through this software and it imports into each client file automatically so no manual entry needed.
CONSNothing, it has been wonderful! The service has not had any failures at all since we have used it and we have been using it for a couple years now. It is always dependable.

User Friendly Application!
Very good service overall, main issue is that most orders are not returnable.
PROSVery easy to use. You will receive an email informing you that you have an order pending. You will access your online store page and approve or decline the order. Once an account has been linked to your practice management software, your client's account will reflect the transaction.
CONSThey are not available 24/7, if you have any questions, you have to wait until they are available.

Online scripts
It's been nice to be able to direct our clients to our online store as opposed to going to Chewy's for their pets medications. We can keep a better record of it now.
PROSI like that it integrates into our practice software as this helps keep up with what medications the pet is on.
CONSIt doesn't have an easy printing option if I have to print out the script for the doctors approval. You can print it after it's been approved, but sometimes we have to have a doctor look at it and it's easier to provide the printed copy along with the patient records.

Integration with our evetpractice software is what kept me from leaving covetrus prescription site. I love the medical record auto stamp. There are feature that need work, such as show was is in the waiting cue for approval vs box to leave note to other team members that client has been contacted and waiting for review.
CONSIt is difficult to use when other team members have access to the site. You can not follow the work flow very easy if any questions if product will be approved. The % profit ranges is too large between business and always feel like have to negotiate.

Quick and easy to use. It's nice that we can order meds for the client as well, if they are less technical-savvy.
PROSI like to ability to select that the Rx came from an outside source, in hopes to keep the client's business here instead.
CONSSometimes the item pricing is a bit high for clients (compared to Big Box pharmacies), so it is difficult to convert outside Rx requests at times.

Time Saver!
We reduced the amount of time we needed to write scripts, manage inventory for special orders, and we were able to decrease the amount of rarely used inventory items that were taking up storage space.
PROSThe ease of dispensing products we don't have in stock rather than having to order it, wait for arrival, and bring the client all the way back to pick it up. Additionally, the fact that the prescription is written into the patient management software helps up keep track of compliance.
CONSPricing is not competitive enough to deter clients from using the numerous online pharmacies. Most clients that end up using our pharmacy either use it when there are promo codes sent out, or when it's a product they can't find elsewhere.
