I left the programs that I used before and relied on them completely, not only because of the color correction, which is the monster in it, but because for me it remained a complete production studio on my desk. It allowed me to achieve image and sound quality that I imagined was far away, and it made the workflow very easy for me. This program is really powerful and gives you limitless creative freedom. Its value for its price (especially the free version) is something else entirely. The color correction is very bad and competes with the strongest movie studios. The Nodes system gives you terrible control over the final appearance of the video. The thing that bothers me the most about it is the learning curve, especially for those who come from programs that work with a layered system. It needs a powerful graphics card and large RAM to work perfectly, especially with 4K projects or complex effects. If your device is average, you will feel irritated or unstable. I was an Avid media composer user for long time then convinced by a friend I switched to DaVinci Resolve in 2017. The learning curve it's very steep and after these years I still need to go back to the user manual for finding functions not so easy to discover. It's a great gear for colorists but not so easy for making simple editing. It can be improved under many points for instance is not backward compatible so must keep a backup of your project in case of. Difficult to use in a laptop and I use it in a 17" FHD laptop. Anyhow as any software cannot satisfy everyone. This is a advance video creation system, from colour grading, project creation, and a wide selection of features that gives Hollywood style results. The customer support gives a large tutorial library that does require a lengthy learning period, while the value for money is also excellent, there is a free version that is easily uploaded, or the Davinci Studio which gives you more fancy features at a one time payment of around $500 all upgrades after are free. Like a lot of systems you can add a security password to protect all your work. #### Cons Has a lengthy learning curve, but the results are Hollywood style quality. So many tools added release after release (and they also come often), it is now a full fledged one-stop video solution. Node canvas is very easy to work with. Clip management is intuitive and fast. BMD's vision is clear: they create the best editor they can to work with their own hardware, but unlike others they make it as easy to work with BMD-camera captured footage than it is with other formats. I'm surprised daily as to the features and benefits to this software. The fact that it's free is incredible! Myself and partner create YouTube videos, and DaVinci Resolve has been fundamental to our development. Near on all the essential tools are included in the free version, with the premium features behind a paywall. But the free tools are more than enough for what we need, so we're yet to pay for this product. But we would if truth be known. #### Cons I installed it temporarily on my MacBook Pro, as the windows machine I use normal wasn't to hand. Having used DaVinci for this brief period of time, I decided to remove it, as it takes up a lot of HD space. But even following the uninstall method provided within the software, it left a lot, and I mean a lot of stuff on my machine. Loads of files and folders and clutter. This was not good. In annoying me so much in fact that I did a fresh install of my MacOS. Be aware of this. I was using Newtek Speed edit for over 25 years (8 years after it was discontinued) because i could not find software to my liking and that was as easy to use as SpeedEdit. I have tried a couple of those out there and was not satisfied with the performance or workflow and i did not want to pay every year to use the software! Someone told me to try resolve, I downloaded the free version and ended up editing my next project on it. After that i was hooked! because SpeedEdit had been discontinued it was not accepting certain formats. Resolve took anything i put into it and let me know if the frame rates were different as i put them in timeline. The color grading is amazing. I am learning new things every day. The software allows you to produce amazing work. You can even get the basic version for free to work with it to see if you like it. #### Cons I have not found any yet. Davinci Resolve comes packed with the best video editing module which is so easy to use but yet so powerful enough to compete with other editing suits like Adobe, Final Cut Pro. What even make it unique is the fact that it can also comes with sound, special effects and 3d editing capabilities. When comes to having the best suit in the industry it will then amount to the price and Davinci Resolve takes top award as it is very powerful and yet very cheap. #### Cons As they say, dynamites comes in small packages but Davinci Resolve when comes to resources it needs a very powerful system and best works with GPU processors which happens to be very expensive to buy.
