### Most mentioned pros

- Camtasia makes it easy to combine screen recordings, PowerPoint slides, and external images in a single project, which is essential for my consulting deliverables.
- It can create awesome videos and has lots of cool effects.
- It can be used to create fun, engaging, professional videos.

### Most mentioned cons

- I find it really hard to zoom in to the right place on the canvas and there don't seem to be scroll bars to move it once I'm zoomed in, so I end up zooming in and out again and again to try and see the area I want to.
- It is also fairly demanding on system resources during rendering, which can slow down other intensive local workloads.
- I don't find some of it very intuitive - I managed to get the audio captioned on the audio track once, which was really helpful, but I've never managed to since.

I’m still a big fan of the platform, and use it regularly to create polished video content. It is a solid alternative to the much more time consuming Final Cut and adobe, and has the always handy screen capture at whim.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Product continues to get more enhancements, and can compete well with larger more complex software. You can produce high quality videos with this mighty cost effective platform. Also the built-in affordable assets library ( albeit limited) helps.

#### Cons

Random crashes that are inexplicable that slow down the process of editing still happen. It may be partly my computer but not sure.

#### Reasons for switching to Camtasia

Wanted to save time and the company I worked for had a smaller budget...but mostly to save time and be able to create good looking videos QUICKLY.

### Camtasia delivers a well-rounded video-editing feature set.

- Overall rating: 5/5

- Industry: Civil Engineering
- Company size: 11-50 employees
- Product usage: Used weekly for less than 12 months
- Reviewed: November 2022

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Ease of use & swift-editing capabilities with the added bonus of including a robust audio & screen recorder are the most crucial factors for picking up this software.

#### Cons

Lack of backwards compatibility with (slightly) older versions is undoubtedly disappointing. The reason is that some of our office computers still run the obsolete Windows 7 & newer versions of Camtasia do not support the aforementioned OS, thus requiring another Windows 10 / 11 machine (or any other OS that supports the latest version of Camtasia) to open up & edit the project file.

#### Reasons for switching to Camtasia

Camtasia offers a better value for the money & is more intuitive by comparison.

My overall experience with capitation now is partially positive with some bits of negativity because of no free option to use the AI. If that was an option like da Vinci resolve studio then it would be much better in my opinion as a software that would be my go to in order to edit. My workflow right now is only to use cam take a to produce a video and then I transfer it over once I have exported the video to edit out any of the bad clips.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 2/5

#### Pros

I like using the software and how easy it is when loading media and working with the timeline. It is so convenient to be able to drag and drop everything.

#### Cons

The AI for captivate where other programs like Davinci allows unlimited use on device. I understand the thought of a business trying to make money but not allowing customers to have access to a tool and causing them frustration by having them constantly pay for yet another subscription is really negative.

#### Reasons for choosing Camtasia

I did not I use both in my workflow in order to produce the results that I want. Your software simply does not provide every possible use case for the standard user. The transcription option is lacking in being able to quickly edit the video without having to pay for another stupid subscription on top of everything else that we already have to pay for.

Great! I've used Camtasia in few of my straightforward video editing projects with a client. It's pretty sleek and clean to use. Highly recommended for video learning and vloggers.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

- Camtasia is more cleaner and more seamless than any other simple video editing software. Though, again, this is not for pro and die-hard video editor.- Simple to use with dedicated learning modules. So, easy to learn.- Capture audio/video and add up voice-over - all-in-one with Camtasia.- Highly recommended for UX Designer during usability testing. This can record screen and audio output/input from test subjects.- YouTube upload is seamless as well.

#### Cons

- More often video output are large. And if you lower the size, the quality suffers. I hope Camtasia has fixed or improve on this one.- If you buy this. Though you can have a perpetual ownership of the software - the update maybe not. Currently, it's like $50 per year for the support and updates.- Not for Pro users who are fond of exceptional effects and motion graphics.- You need separate audio mixer and editor for this one. No inbound audio editor and filter.

#### Reasons for choosing Camtasia

For new experience for flexibility and comparison. Well, Camtasia impressed me with this one over the other.

Overall if you want a software that can do it all from screen capturing, video and audio Camtasia has you covered, it is easy to use and offered professional editing tools that most screen recorders don’t offer.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Camtasia is a great video editor and as a beginner at the time it was easy for me to learn how to use, it has a great community that makes it easy to get videos and tutorials on how to use certain features making it easy to learn and use.

#### Cons

Camtasia focuses more on the video editing and ignores the screen recording aspect in the process, the addition of too many unused features in my opinion also makes the program resource hungry and my older computers cannot run it effectively.

#### Reasons for switching to Camtasia

Camtasia is easier to use and as much as it uses a lot of resources it is lighter that After Effects and Cheaper in rearms of cost whist offering great video editing tools too.

### The best editing software for educational videos

Camtasia is a program that helps me enormously in my work, although there are very powerful video editors, they become complicated to use and have a very high cost. Its ease of use allows you to obtain quality results without being an expert in the area of video editing. It includes the screenshot tool which works perfectly. The cost-benefit ratio seems very good to me. I definitely recommend it.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It is a very easy program to use, but at the same time, it is full of tools that make your work easier and allow you to obtain very good results. Among its best features are: - Easy to edit videos, take part of them, make cuts, speed up or slow down and manage layers - You can easily add shapes, arrows, texts and graphic elements, and it is very easy to define their duration and position in the video. - Its screenshot tool is great, it has the correct and enough options, it allows to capture the screen and the webcam at the same time and edit them in separate channels. - It has audio effects, few but functional and well selected, noise reduction, fade in and fade out. No more is needed. - Video pan and zoom tools are easy to use. - The export is simple and different profiles can be handled. - It has subtitle function - Easily separate the sound from the video and you can easily control the volume - Video documentation is very good

#### Cons

What I think can be improved is really little. - The program takes a while to start, but once opened, it works smoothly even if you don't have a large computer, in my case, with 8 GB of ram I can use it correctly. - Some things are missing customization options, but you rarely miss them - The templates and elements that are included are limited, if you want more they have a cost that seems high to me if you have already paid for the software. - It seems to me that it lacks an autosave option, I have already had to lose a few hours of work due to a power failure.

#### Reasons for choosing Camtasia

Filmora is a good program, but you have to buy the screen recorder separately, Filmora Pro includes it, but the ease and speed of use required for our purposes is reduced.

#### Reasons for switching to Camtasia

High cost of Adobe license, very complex use of software, many features not used for our purposes.

### Great video editing software perfect for tutorials

I've been using this for so long I forgot. Camtasia has improved a lot and it replaced my video editing software. I use to make tutorials for my clients and this helps me create them in a professional way and make adjustments super quick. I have a maintenance contract that may require more training from their agents. I had to explain a problem 3 times to finally have someone to watch over me. I was treated like a regular joe when I am paying a support contract. The third guy really replied and followed me up. The first 2 guys didn't even care much.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

it's aimed to videotutorial creators. Easy to use, fast to edit videos, very comfortable to work with

#### Cons

Some details like the fonts outlines that end up as little boxes around each letter and some features that should work better like the templates to have all the fonts and colors on the whole project... well that doesn't work.

#### Reasons for choosing Camtasia

Easy to use and screen recording options

#### Reasons for switching to Camtasia

Editor is way easier and faster. Powerdirector has the audio/video sync that excels from the rest and Camtasia lacks it as it lacks video stabilizers etc. But Camtasia is aimed for video tutorials creators so it has all the tools for this and make the job a pleasure.

#### Pros

Someone recommended me this app years back and never switched to any other solution. Camtasia is very easy to pick up and gets the job done for simple and moderately advances tasks (for me a tleast, I;m an amateur).

#### Cons

It lacks some advanced animation & tracking features - if heavy editing in modern style (think YouTube clips) is needed, I'd probably look elsewhere.

#### Reasons for switching to Camtasia

I HATED OpenShot. It constantly froze during rendering nad reversing operations was clunky.

I have used for years and years. Love it. When I used to build software simulations, I would do the filming with Camtasia, even though I used high-end software like Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate. It was easier and I could import into the other software.

I've had a great experience with Camtasia so far. It has been a great resource to have when editing all my videos and creating new videos. It has great features, and is really to use from an user point of view. It also is very easy to train on and learn. Definitely a great alternative to IMovie.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I like the ease of use and drag and drop features the most on Camtasia. When I am editing or creating a video I usually add multiple clips together, and the drag and drop feature allows my video clip to fall into place right where I need it. The drag and drop feature is also great for text overlays or transitions and makes it much easier to edit videos and place your video/picture clips at the exact place it needs to be. Furthermore, the video editing features are great, and can definitely be a good windows alternative of IMovie.

#### Cons

There is a limited selection of transitions, text overlays to choose from compared with other video editing softwares. Although I use the same text overlay feature every time, it would be good if there was more/more unique options when editing your video. Also when editing your video, sometimes it is hard to cut the few seconds and sometimes milliseconds out to create a perfect video.

#### Reasons for choosing Camtasia

From a cost perspective, Camtasia was a better option.

I've made demo videos of software in under a day with Camtasia. Editing them and adding callouts is a breeze.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

It's optimized for creating videos in which screen recordings of software usage predominate.

#### Cons

Little things, like the inability to reverse a clip (i.e. play it backwards on the timeline). The ability to export the audio to an external program, edit it there, then bring it back in, would be amazing too.

#### Reasons for switching to Camtasia

A colleague at an old employer heard me say I wanted to use Premiere Pro for a project and he told me I'd work a lot less hard and get it done in a lot less time if I tried Camtasia. I did, and I was sold on it in minutes.

### Camtasia for Video Creation

Camtasia has been a core tool in my (and my organization's) e-learning development toolbox over the years. We've used it to capture training content, edit training content, create training content, etc. Screen captures, live capture of instructor video, accompanying or standalone animated storytelling via graphics and text. It's been great.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Camtasia is easy to use, doesn't require a subscription, has good built-in animations and transitions, and does screen capture as well! It's a great tool that covers a lot of bases in the world of video creation/editing. Has excellent performance for the most part as well.

#### Cons

I've always wished the media bin was a resizable pane. I've worked around it by using structured file naming conventions for my media assets (of which I typically have a lot, since I mostly use Camtasia these days for video creation with text and graphics).

### Camtasia is mission critical tool for creators of video/gif training materials.

Camtasia was simple to set up, is fairly intuitive and fun to use. Because I create training videos and gifs, Camtasia's annotation tools are amazing. If you mark up screen recordings, use Camtasia. You'll save minutes to hours on every single video you create.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Camtasia wins for several reasons. They make it easy to capture screen recordings, easy to script and record VO, and provide great standard annotation tools. Other video editing tools like Premier or Video Studio don't offer annotation/markup options out of the box. This one feature has made Camtasia worth the ticket price.

#### Cons

The software seems to lock up and crash periodically. This is frustrating and I likely would have left...but the annotation and recording tools are so amazing that they outweigh this problem.

I really enjoy the software and have for YEARS. I am always recommending Camtasia to my clients who want to do little DIY video projects - and have converted them to users/followers as well. Tech support is always very helpful and the tutorial videos they provide - along with live webinars - are very helpful.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The visual interface is (in our opinion) the best feature. Techsmith keeps adding more features that make it eas(ier) to produce professional-quality videos for my clients in a short amount of time. I especially enjoy the ability to create Client Libraries (frequently used tools, fonts, effects, music, assets, etc.) as this helps build consistence between clients & projects.

#### Cons

Transitions are a bit frustrating for my types of projects. They have added many new effects and transitions to their latest release (which are all very cool). My clients prefer the subtle and non-flashy transitions and besides the fade and a few others, there are few to really choose from that help the video stand out (without really standing out :).

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5

- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Ease of use - after (of course) going through a few tutorials you can see the power of Camtasia while using it for editing videos. I have been using it for more than 5 years now for creating videos (for my YouTube channel). Often, I get asked which video tool I use after seeing my work. Camtasia is not that expensive if you see the value it brings in terms of quality editing. Of course, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles like the Adobe family of tools but it does its job really well. It's capacity to create 'favorites' on any custom animation I create, specific graphics, tools within Camtasia - is a game changer. I only have to go to my 'Favorites' folder within Camtasia because I put all my frequently used tools in there, which speeds up my video editing / creation process. Another pro is its ability to connect my mobile from within Camtasia. This helps me in transferring my photos and videos to directly into the editor.

#### Cons

Not a con, but sometimes, the rendering takes a while to complete, especially for longer videos. I know my system config plays a critical role here but I somehow feel some magic solution can help in speeding up the rendering process. Another minor annoyance I have is that sometimes (I mean quite rarely) it crashes while working. I believe, it should never crash since my video editing is critical to my nature of work. So whenever it does (not often) I feel bad.

I've tried using other editing apps, but I couldn't find anything like this one. It's really comprehensive, focusing on features that truly matter. There are no unnecessary features. If you want to create informative, instructional, short marketing, or budget-friendly videos, then this is definitely your best option.

#### Cons

There are some memory limitations in projects that use a lot of effects or large video files. Therefore, when I have to edit a large video, I usually split the editing into parts and produce them separately. So, if you want to make videos longer than 10 minutes frequently, on a computer with less than 16GB of memory, Camtasia may not be the best option for you.

I started using Camtasia in the early 20 teens. It was a struggle because I was new to learning tools like this. I have used others, but remained with Camtasia. When updated versions came out they did not interrupt my ability to work or cause problems as updates can sometimes do. The tutorials make learning easy as they are clear and concise. And there are many of them!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Ease of use always!!! Even if I don’t use it for awhile when I return to using it there’s no huge learning barrier to become reacquainted. Second would be price. It was not cost prohibitive like some others.

#### Cons

I don’t have anything. There are no dislikes from me.

I create online trainings for a large company. I needed a powerful video screen recording software for walkthroughs and demonstrations. It's so easy to create video recordings of my desktop and import them into whatever format I need (youtube, storyline, LMS, etc.)

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Camtasia was my first choice when purchasing video screen capturing software when I first arrived at my job. It's so easy to get up and running. From easily sizing the capture size to drag and drop editing. It's the best around. I love the extensive export options as well.

#### Cons

My least favorite part of this software is the split between Camtasia and Camtasia Recorder. I don't love toggling between the two apps.

#### Reasons for choosing Camtasia

The price point and ease of use was the selling point. My purchasing department loved the one time fee. Once I showed them what was possible with the software (I used the trial version for a demonstration), there was really no question in their minds about the importance of this software to the success of our online trainings.

Overall, very happy about Camtasia. Makes my life a lot easier :-)

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Easy-of-use and fast result - it is easy to capture the elements I need (Screen Capture), make a few edis and create and publish the video

#### Cons

I have sometimes had some technical issues - mostly because Camtasia creates some temp recording that fill up space on my local storage - and eventually breaks down. Solution is to remove the temp recordings - maybe this should be something that is build into Camtasia

I use Camtasia as part of a recurring marketing campaign that we create and manage in-house, and every time I'm encountered with a more complex video editing option I go right back to Camtasia. It has every feature I need, is easy to use, and makes editing a cinch.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Camtasia makes editing videos simple, fast, and as easy as possible for non-technical editors. It has basically every video editing feature you could want for basic editing, and is very user friendly and intuitive. I love the transition options, annotation options, and other basic affects that all have drag and drop capabilities. It's also really easy to cut out pieces of a video, speed the video or audio up, etc.

#### Cons

The upload to YouTube feature just stopped working with the recent version I purchased. My old version still works fine with that but the fact that I can no longer directly upload to YouTube drives me absolutely bonkers. Many others have reported this issue online and there doesn't seem to be a solution as of yet.
