## Cisco Jabber Pros and Cons

We analyzed 1,334 verified reviews for Cisco Jabber to find out what actual users really think.

Select to learn more

Streamlined Internal Collaboration Tools

With Cisco Jabber, teams can communicate efficiently through instant messaging, voice, and video. Presence indicators show availability, and integration with other business tools helps streamline workflows. The platform supports secure, company-wide communication, making it easier to collaborate, share screens, and stay productive whether working remotely or in the office.

Multi-Device Phone Connectivity

Cisco Jabber offers strong phone integration, letting users access work calls from PCs, tablets, and mobile devices. You can use softphone features, manage multiple lines, and keep your personal number private. The app connects with Cisco phone systems and hardware, providing reliable communication and flexibility for users on the go.

Flexible Calling And Chat Options

Cisco Jabber lets you make and receive calls from your computer, mobile device, or desk phone, using your work number. You can chat, share screens, and manage contacts, all while integrating with phone systems and CRM tools. The platform supports conference calls, caller ID, and easy call management, making remote and office communication straightforward.

Limited Chat History Retention

Jabber often deletes chat history when the app is closed or the system restarts, making it hard to reference past conversations. There’s no reliable way to archive, search, or recover old messages, and chat logs don’t sync across devices. This can lead to lost information and frustration for users needing persistent records.

Restricted Screenshot Sharing Features

Cisco Jabber makes it difficult to share screenshots, especially in group chats. Users can’t drag and drop images easily, and screenshots often can’t be sent to offline users or groups. Shared images may disappear, open in low quality, or require extra steps, limiting productivity and collaboration during team discussions.

Messaging Reliability And Limitations

Messaging in Cisco Jabber can be unreliable, with issues delivering messages if recipients are offline or disconnected. Messages aren’t stored on the server, so missed messages can’t be retrieved later. The user interface feels outdated, and features like editing, deleting, or sending messages to offline users are missing.

Pretty good. I would use it again if I had to work off site.

Ratings Breakdown

Ease of use

4

Functionality

Pros:

Ease of use, able to view company directory, minimal training, we could hit the ground running. Using Jabber to call out without using my personal phone number was very important for us. I was also able to differentiate calls on my cell phone - the ring tone was helpful in letting me know if it was my personal phone call versus a work call.

Cons:

Connectivity issues. Sometimes calls would drop. The Jabber calls show up in my call history on my personal cell phone. I'd prefer to keep work call history separate from my personal call history.

Incredibly useful for companies that use phones

4

I use Cisco Jabber daily to communicate and it is smooth and efficient. If your company uses phones (I know there are a growing number of businesses that do not offer phone support at all), I highly recommend Cisco Jabber for clear communication. I have never had an issue with the voice/instant message services in over 2 years of using them.

Ratings Breakdown

Ease of use

Functionality

Pros:

I love that when someone leaves a voicemail, it sends a transcript directly to my email. As someone who prefer to read over listen (I know this is an odd trait for a millennial), this greatly improves my work day and allows me to keep working without having to listen to voicemails.

Cons:

I find the instant messenger clunky and old fashioned. Let's make the interface modern, Cisco!

Reasons for switching to Cisco Jabber

I changed companies and now don't have to use Jive ever again, thank goodness. Cisco offers excellent voice (unlike Jive) and I never have the issues of dropped calls, bad audio, choppy reception, not receiving calls, and other issues I experienced with Jive.

Pros:

I have been using this since the Covid pandemic started. It's really easy to use. It makes working a hybrid schedule a lot easier because you can give your client your Jabber number to reach you when you are working at home. They can leave voice messages if you are unreachable, and you can call them back. It's nice because it's hand's free and you can multi-task if needed!

Cons:

You have to be connected to WIFI in order to make calls from your computer.

It has most of the basic functions to allow easy communication and sharing of documents in an office environment. It also organizes any files making them easy to locate later when needed.

Cons:

The history it stores for communications is a bit limited at times especially when you realize you need to go back to review a conversation only to find it was just outside the time limit it saves.

Reasons for switching to Cisco Jabber

The integration with other Cisco products was the primary reason.

Pros:

Our firm is gradually rolling out Jabber as a desk phone replacement. Overall the experience is pleasant. Voice quality is good. But the UI can tweaked a bit

Cons:

\- We tried Jabber on Mobile (Android app) but the experience was far from perfect. Voice qaulity was really bad even though the network speed was good - There is always confusion if user has multiple of speakers/headphones. while it is changable through the menu options, I think it should show on the main windows so user can see if a wrong one was chosen and can change easily on the fly - To call a number, we simply need to type the number out in the Jabber window. In our firm, we have many old fashion user that would like to see the keypad and initial calls from there. Also, there should be an option to display a keypad whenever a call is made instead of require manual toggle to show the keypad. Some of our users work require them to make many phone call and then use the keypad to select different options after the call is established

Reasons for choosing Cisco Jabber

It's a Cisco products that our firm would like to combine most communication solutions with the same vendor
