### About Google Meet

Google Meet is a video conferencing app. It is the business-oriented version of Google's Hangouts platform and is suitable for businesses of all sizes. The solution enables users to make video calls with up to 30 users per high-definition video meeting.

The app allows users to join pre-scheduled meetings from calendar events, choose a link, enter meeting code and even dial in from their phones if the invitation includes a phone number. Google Meet integrates with G Suite versions of Google Calendar and Gmail and shows the complete list of participants and scheduled meetings. It shows a "join" button for users to connect to the meeting and provides options to mute and turn off the video during the meeting.

Google Meet allows users to dial in phone numbers to access meetings, thus enabling users with slow or no internet connection to call in. However, dial-in numbers are only available to the G Suite enterprise edition customers.

## Google Meet Pros and Cons

We analyzed 12,121 verified reviews for Google Meet to find out what actual users really think.

Select to learn more

Simple And Intuitive Interface

Google Meet is praised for its straightforward, user-friendly design that requires no installation and works across devices. Even users with little technical experience can easily join or host meetings, navigate features, and access calls directly from a web browser or Google Calendar.

High-Quality Video Conferencing

Google Meet delivers reliable, high-quality video and audio for virtual meetings, supporting large groups and offering features like screen sharing and recording. Its integration with Google Workspace and intuitive interface make it easy to join, host, and manage video calls for business, education, or personal use.

Integrated Chat And Collaboration

Google Hangouts is tightly integrated with Gmail and other Google services, making it easy to chat, share files, and start video or audio calls directly from your inbox. It supports group messaging, syncs conversations across devices, and enables quick communication with contacts worldwide.

Dependent On Strong Connectivity

Google Meet's performance relies heavily on a stable, high-speed internet connection. Users experience lag, dropped calls, and reduced video or audio quality when bandwidth is low, making meetings difficult in areas with unreliable connectivity or limited data plans.

Limited And Inconsistent Messaging

Messaging features in Google Meet and Hangouts are basic, with issues like unreliable notifications, limited search, and lack of advanced options such as reactions or read receipts. Users often miss messages or find chat management cumbersome, especially across devices.

Restrictions And Call Limitations

Phone call functionality is limited by time restrictions on free plans, occasional dropped calls, and a lack of advanced features like call recording or conference calling. Users also report confusing call histories and difficulties switching devices or managing large group calls.

My Go-To Platform for Virtual Meetings

5

I use Google Meet weekly since I work remotely and out of state from the company I work for. It’s one of the easiest platforms to use when I want to quickly connect and meet with my coworkers. I especially like the features that allow me to blur my background, mute myself, or turn off screen sharing whenever needed. Another major benefit is how user-friendly the platform is overall. I also appreciate that Google Meet can take notes during meetings, which is extremely helpful if we need to review important information afterward. Overall, Google Meet has been a very reliable and convenient tool for communication and collaboration.

Pros:

I love Google Meet because it is incredibly easy to use and set up. Since my coworkers and I already use Gmail and Google Chat, it’s very convenient to quickly send a Google Meet link whenever we need to discuss something briefly or hold a longer meeting. I also appreciate how reliable the platform is — I rarely experience any technical issues or bugs while using it. It's a great site to use to hold webinars because you can share your screen and present without any error or difficulty.

Cons:

Truthfully, there is very little I dislike about Google Meet. Having used technology throughout my teenage and adult years, I have experienced many different virtual meeting platforms, and Google Meet has been my favorite overall. I find it to be the most user-friendly, reliable, and convenient option for virtual meetings.

Easy Meeting Access Through Gmail

4

Google Meet is a amazing platform. It is simple to use, easy for participants to join, and works well for regular meetings or online sessions. I also like that users can join meetings directly through their Gmail account, which makes access more convenient and familiar. For larger webinars, it can feel a little limited. I think it could improve with better registration options, attendee tracking, reporting, branding, background effects, and more advanced participant controls. Overall, it is reliable and user-friendly, but it could offer more features for professional webinars.

Functionality

Pros:

Google Meet is simple and easy to use, especially for webinars or online sessions. Participants can join with a link without much confusion, which makes it easier to manage larger groups. Even we can start or join a meeting within our Gmail account. The participant management features are also straightforward, such as muting attendees, admitting people, and keeping the session organized. Overall, it feels reliable and user-friendly, with fewer technical issues or bugs compared to some other platforms.

Cons:

Apparently, Google Meet feels a bit limited for larger or more formal webinars. It works well for simple meetings, but I wish it had stronger webinar features like better registration options, attendee tracking, reporting, and more control over participants. Some meeting features also feel basic compared to other platforms, such as background effects, layout options, branding, waiting room controls, and engagement tools. The background blur/effects are useful, but they are not always as polished or flexible as expected. Overall, Google Meet is easy to use, but it could improve in advanced webinar and meeting customization features.
