### About Google Meet

Google Meet is a video conferencing app. It is the business-oriented version of Google's Hangouts platform and is suitable for businesses of all sizes. The solution enables users to make video calls with up to 30 users per high-definition video meeting.

The app allows users to join pre-scheduled meetings from calendar events, choose a link, enter meeting code and even dial in from their phones if the invitation includes a phone number. Google Meet integrates with G Suite versions of Google Calendar and Gmail and shows the complete list of participants and scheduled meetings. It shows a "join" button for users to connect to the meeting and provides options to mute and turn off the video during the meeting.

Google Meet allows users to dial in phone numbers to access meetings, thus enabling users with slow or no internet connection to call in. However, dial-in numbers are only available to the G Suite enterprise edition customers.

## Google Meet Pros and Cons

We analyzed 12,144 verified reviews for Google Meet to find out what actual users really think.

Select to learn more

Simple And Intuitive Interface

Google Meet is praised for its straightforward, user-friendly design that requires no installation and works across devices. Even users with little technical experience can easily join or host meetings, navigate features, and access calls directly from a web browser or Google Calendar.

High-Quality Video Conferencing

Google Meet delivers reliable, high-quality video and audio for virtual meetings, supporting large groups and offering features like screen sharing and recording. Its integration with Google Workspace and intuitive interface make it easy to join, host, and manage video calls for business, education, or personal use.

Integrated Chat And Collaboration

Google Hangouts is tightly integrated with Gmail and other Google services, making it easy to chat, share files, and start video or audio calls directly from your inbox. It supports group messaging, syncs conversations across devices, and enables quick communication with contacts worldwide.

Dependent On Strong Connectivity

Google Meet's performance relies heavily on a stable, high-speed internet connection. Users experience lag, dropped calls, and reduced video or audio quality when bandwidth is low, making meetings difficult in areas with unreliable connectivity or limited data plans.

Limited And Inconsistent Messaging

Messaging features in Google Meet and Hangouts are basic, with issues like unreliable notifications, limited search, and lack of advanced options such as reactions or read receipts. Users often miss messages or find chat management cumbersome, especially across devices.

Restrictions And Call Limitations

Phone call functionality is limited by time restrictions on free plans, occasional dropped calls, and a lack of advanced features like call recording or conference calling. Users also report confusing call histories and difficulties switching devices or managing large group calls.

Pros:

Very easy to use and because it runs from your browser you don't get stuck outside your meeting while the app updates. Light and very smooth experience. Very simple controls and paired with a Google Workspace subscription you have a lot of controls of things you share within Meet.

Cons:

Less participant control for the host as compared to other online meeting applications. Also there is no option for remote control of participant's screen. Works best if you have multiple screens but if you do this is perfect.

Reasons for choosing Google Meet

I use both Zoom and Meet however, Meet is preferrable for quick meeting for clients.

Simple, reliable, and essential for staying connected across work and family life

5

Google Meet has become part of my regular routine for both work and personal life here in Canada. I use it mainly for professional meetings in sales and for attending online learning sessions and training related to my career growth. It has also been very helpful in staying connected with people across different places, especially with family and friends who are in India. Being able to connect instantly without complicated setup makes it very convenient in a busy day where time management matters. Overall, it has been a dependable tool that supports both my work responsibilities and personal connections.

Pros:

What I like most about Google Meet is how easy and quick it is to use. I can join meetings just by clicking a link, and it works smoothly on both phone and laptop. The connection is generally stable, and the audio/video quality is good for day-to-day communication. It also integrates well with Google Calendar, which helps me manage meetings and schedules without missing anything important. For someone balancing work, learning, and family responsibilities, this simplicity is very helpful.

Cons:

The main limitation is that it depends heavily on internet quality, so sometimes the call experience is not perfect. Also, some useful features are only available in paid versions of Google Workspace, which can feel restrictive. While it is great for basic meetings and communication, it does not feel very advanced for complex collaboration needs.

Reliable, User-Friendly Platform for Effective Business Collaboration

4

Overall, my experience with Google Meet has been very positive. As a senior executive at iQor, I rely on virtual meeting platforms daily to collaborate with internal teams, engage with clients, and support strategic initiatives across multiple locations. Google Meet has consistently provided a reliable, easy-to-use environment that helps keep communication efficient and productive.

Pros:

What I appreciate most about Google Meet is how simple and dependable it is. As a senior executive at iQor, my schedule is packed with meetings involving teams, clients, and partners across different locations, and Google Meet makes connecting with everyone effortless. The platform is intuitive, so there’s very little time spent dealing with technical issues or helping people get connected. I also value the strong audio and video quality, which helps conversations feel more natural and productive. Features like screen sharing, live captions, and seamless integration with Google Calendar make it easy to stay organized and keep meetings moving efficiently.

Cons:

While Google Meet is a strong collaboration platform overall, there are a few areas where it could improve. As a senior executive, I occasionally find that some of the advanced meeting management and engagement features are not as robust as those offered by certain competing platforms. For larger meetings or executive presentations, having more customization options for participant interactions and meeting controls would be beneficial. There have also been instances where participants with slower internet connections experienced reduced video quality, which can impact the flow of discussions. Additionally, while the integration within the Google ecosystem is excellent, collaboration with users outside that ecosystem can sometimes require extra steps. These are relatively minor concerns, but addressing them would further enhance the overall user experience.

My Go-To Platform for Virtual Meetings

5

I use Google Meet weekly since I work remotely and out of state from the company I work for. It’s one of the easiest platforms to use when I want to quickly connect and meet with my coworkers. I especially like the features that allow me to blur my background, mute myself, or turn off screen sharing whenever needed. Another major benefit is how user-friendly the platform is overall. I also appreciate that Google Meet can take notes during meetings, which is extremely helpful if we need to review important information afterward. Overall, Google Meet has been a very reliable and convenient tool for communication and collaboration.

Pros:

I love Google Meet because it is incredibly easy to use and set up. Since my coworkers and I already use Gmail and Google Chat, it’s very convenient to quickly send a Google Meet link whenever we need to discuss something briefly or hold a longer meeting. I also appreciate how reliable the platform is — I rarely experience any technical issues or bugs while using it. It's a great site to use to hold webinars because you can share your screen and present without any error or difficulty.

Cons:

Truthfully, there is very little I dislike about Google Meet. Having used technology throughout my teenage and adult years, I have experienced many different virtual meeting platforms, and Google Meet has been my favorite overall. I find it to be the most user-friendly, reliable, and convenient option for virtual meetings.
