The numerous connections with the social media platforms and the ability to create reports in a fast, efficient & scalable way are the most important benefits of the platform. #### Cons Although our experienced team members are able to create Looker reports from scratch, the newest members need numerous training sessions to understand how the platform works and how they can use it to create custom reports. My one hesitation in recommending it is that other tools seemed to be able to provide 80% of the value at 20% of the cost, but I've only demoed those tools and not actually used them so I'm not sure if they could actually deliver. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 5/5 - Value for money: 3/5 - Customer support: 5/5 - Functionality: 4/5 #### Pros Looker is incredibly easy to use for a casual user, which most of our users are. As soon as your email is activated, you have access to the product and new users need very little direction to start getting value out of it. #### Cons Relative to other BI tools, the advanced charting functionality is somewhat limited, but frankly that's not the main reason we bought Looker. Data scientists can use another tool of their choice, we have Looker for people who aren't data scientists. #### Reasons for choosing Looker LookML gave Looker an advantage because it allowed us to pre-define a framework for our users to need. We didn't feel Chartio did this quite as well. Looker is also better funded and I felt more confident that they would continue to add features and fill in gaps in the product in the future. #### Reasons for switching to Looker Tableau is an antiquated architecture (permanent license desktop app) and was going to be prohibitively expensive to roll out to the whole company. Even though I sometimes wish for cooler native charts, Looker's flexibility and data modeling capabilities definitely make up for it. It means we define our business logic once, and it's consistent everywhere. This makes it super easy for anyone to dig into the data without needing to know complex code. Plus, quickly creating new reports and drilling down is a breeze. Version control for LookML is also a huge win for teamwork! #### Cons My main gripe is with the visualizations. Looker's great for data, but I really wish it had more advanced and complex chart types built-in. Sometimes, for really specific visuals, I have to export data or use other tools, which isn't ideal. Also, for complex queries, Looker becomes pretty slow. For some one who doesn't have SQL knowledge its a lot easier to make number talk the visualization part. #### Cons It isn't easier for some one new to get used to looker because of its steep learning curve.
