It was confirmed to be on Hostinger’s side. The real cost of this outage was not the hosting fee. It was the business damage. If you run any serious business, do not rely on Hostinger’s “cheap” infrastructure. I deployed a small Next.js app connected to an external MongoDB database, and the whole process was very quick. I also appreciated how easy it was to manage environment variables and connect to MongoDB Atlas directly from the dashboard. All the different things needed for deployment like getting a domain or setting up a CDN can be done here in one place, so it makes for a very solid deployment experience. #### Cons There were a few minor points of confusion during the setup process. I initially ran into a couple of error messages during deployment that were not very clear, and it wasn’t always obvious whether an issue was related to the project configuration or something else. But restarting the deployment process made the errors go away so it seemed to just be a temporary issue. The database options could also be explained a bit more clearly. While Hostinger can help connecting to external databases like MongoDB Atlas, this isn’t immediately obvious from the main database section, which may be confusing at first. I could easily see both deployment logs and runtime logs. I also found the UI flow pretty nice and straight forward to use. Kodee AI was a good assistant, it helped me quickly identify how to use the platform seamlessly. What i found really cool was IP tracking which allowed me to know who accessed what and when and allowed for quick debugging. Whats cool is Hostinger provides all these at such cheap rate. #### Cons Initial deployment flow needs a bit of refinement. It was a bit tacky to identify what i needed to do next especially for nodejs deployment. I kept seeing deploy your website instructions which was not relevant for me. They have a lot of custom templates to choose which is nice, but my challenge was that there was not a free trial included and I needed to make a decision within 30 days in order to request a refund. Our organization's leadership team is all volunteers and spread around the United States, so our website is also a repository for our documents and literature. Our website is the largest expense and critical to successful non-profit operations. Our opt-in email newsletter is the most significant means of communications with our members, sent out once or twice each month. For the first several months Hostinger provided good service, with exception of email. Email was an issue from the start and took several weeks and multiple tech support chats to get working correctly. Then, twice in two months our newsletter run was blocked during runs. After the second interruption, tech support had me reconfigure email services to prevent future interruptions. Then, our email account was suspended for a claimed terms of service violation. Based on Hostinger's published email support, we were well within their service limits. Tech support flatly refused to life the suspension unless we contracted with a third-party email marketing service for future email newsletters. We specifically told either MailChimp or Sendmail were the only two acceptable services. These services were a stretch for our organization and a gross overkill for the level of email "marketing" we currently conducted. This has put us in the position of looking for a new hosting service. I am now stuck with a 12-month contract for a hosting product that does not work at all. I bought a domain with a brand name that Hostinger sold me without warning, and later I was contacted by the trademark owner demanding the domain be taken down. Hostinger took no responsibility, offered no support, and hid behind international borders to avoid accountability. Their refusal to issue a refund or acknowledge fault is a clear violation of consumer trust. When the trademark holder issues a takedown, the company denies all responsibility and refuses to offer a refund or even a domain replacement.
