Wappler: it just keeps getting better

I came to Wappler as a Dreamweaver user and found the change involved a learning curve. Once I got the basics I found the whole product and features followed a consistent pattern that made it become more intuitive to use than Dreamweaver. Wappler is being frequently updated with new features and updates. These have provided me with valuable new options on building client web sites and apps. More than once delivered in a very timely manner.

PROS

Wappler gave me a more intuitive platform to build not just web sites but full web apps.

CONS

There is a fairly steep learning curve for someone coming from Dreamweaver, but well worth the effort.

Reasons for switching to Wappler

Dreamweaver appeared to be to have become a legacy product that is nearing end of life. Wappler is a vibrant application being constantly updates.

Beware the learning curve

The tool has really amazing possibilites. It's a shame that there is no way to get direct support for when you need a fast answer. You have to search on the forum. If you leave a question, you most likely will get a reply from someone on the team (or it's awesome community). But there is no guarantee you'll get one... The pill is a bit bitter to swallow for a monthly subscription (at least give us a paid option to get direct support - time is more scarce than money).

PROS

It's a versatile tool to build your own website or app. I like that you stay in control of your code and can host wherever you want : It's not tied to a specific vendor. It's not even tied to a specific language as you can have it in php, asp or node. Being a back-end developer, it's nice to be able to build a front-end without being a webdesign genius nor a javascript pro to alter the DOM. I also like the workflow builder and its step by step approach. It's kind of an in-between zapier and integromat way of organizing your business logic where you can make your data flow easily between your webhook, your database, and your front-end as you wish.

CONS

The learning curve. Honestly, you have to be motivated (or desperate)... because the syntax is not always consistent among all components of the tool. The documentation is not up to date for all features, which wastes a lot of your time scouring the forum for examples and help. I ended up compiling notes of my own to avoid all this.

Reason for choosing Wappler

Those alternatives are fine for small projects I can easily re-build from scratch. If the time investment is heavy, I prefer to go with Wappler as I retain full control of the code and can host my app anywhere.

Reasons for switching to Wappler

I didn't have time to learn how to patch things up between front-end and back-end.
