About DebugBear

DebugBear is a cloud-based website monitoring solution that helps businesses track site speed on different devices across the world. It provides in-depth comparative reports, which enables employees to identify the cause of a regression or spot opportunities for improvement. DebugBear automatically sends alerts when a regression is detected and each test result includes a full Google Lighthouse report, including SEO and accessibility scores.

DebugBear tests either run on a fixed schedule or are triggered using the application programming interface (API). It can run tests as part of a continuous integration setup, showing page weight and lighthouse score changes as part of each pull request. Results can easily be reported to third-party solutions, including GitHub or Slack.

DebugBear makes it straightforward to test pages that require login or are part of a booking or checkout flow. It lets staff members configure bandwidth, request headers, and manage ad blocking for each test device.

        DebugBear has provided us with the ability to automate our Lighthouse testing and keep track of the quality over time. We originally tried to integrate Lighthouse as part of our CI system, but found the reporting severely lacking so using DebugBear saved us considerable time. Lighthouse though is only one of the tools DebugBear provides and we're exploring our other options within the tool regularly.
        Cons:
        There was a bit of a learning curve in implementing the page tracking and probably was the slowest part of starting to use DebugBear - though I'm not sure this is something that DebugBear could rectify due to the nature of what we are trying to do.

        Been using DebugBear for over 3 years now. Being in this space, a lot of tools come and some go, but DebugBear remains a solid tool in my toolbox. Accurate, reliable, affordable and there's plenty of ROI in it when you find and fix performance issues with the help of this tool. Great experience overall!

        Pros:
        As a freelance performance engineer for a number of clients, it's important that I can easily go back in time and find significant regressions as well as match performance improvements to certain deploys. DebugBear fits perfectly for these purposes. It has since expanded with some great features like on the spot performance experiments and RUM.
        Cons:
        Initially it was not so easy to pay if one didn't have a credit card but support has made it as easy as a manual payment can be. Expanding the test allowances and projects setup to our needs also involved support but again is efficiently dealt with.

        Reasons for choosing DebugBear

        Pricing was favourable at the time, which as an independent contractor / freelances was a vital point of consideration.

        Performance metrics are always updated and improved. Helps to monitor the website and observe how metrics change. The most I like most are the visual part, explanation, and helpful links. Easy to integrate into CI/CD.
