It is perfect for drawing projects, has a wide range of templates that make it easier for you to work and all the types of diagrams you need (at least it is for my IT area), it has a desktop and online version that allows you to work in any place, it is very useful. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 4/5 - Value for money: 3/5 - Customer support: 4/5 - Functionality: 4/5 #### Pros SmartDraw is a very complete plication for all types of diagrams that you need, has great virtues with respect to Visio that can be considered the number one in the market or at least used, when you need to diagram a project from the basic algorithm to the more complex gantt diagrams , this tool is very useful, it makes you much easier in work (in my experience much easier to use than Visio) the connection between diagrams is simpler, since finishing a diagram makes it much easier to do the following, has a wide range of options and templates that help you in the creation process, contributing to the development of diagrams for systems that you are going to develop, a very useful tool for projects where you need to correctly capture what you want to develop, use it, try it for yourself. #### Cons Its main against is the price, the full version is very expensive although it allows you to enjoy the desktop version and its cost is very high, I think you should download it to compete more in the market. I give them a brief introduction and show them where to find certain tools, but that's about it. Some likely don't even need that much. The desktop looks like other programs they use which makes it really easy for them. #### Cons I would like it to have a 3D option when working with floorplans. I would like to have that progression for my students. I would also like to have a feature that allows me to crop around the images. Being able to have multiple students work on the same floorpan at the same time would be helpful. #### Reasons for choosing SmartDraw My classes are semester long. I don't have time to teach AutoCAD to middle school students and get in all the content. For the most part it is beginner friendly and quick to use. Great for visualizing literally anything you could think of. Latest update provides even more customizable options. #### Cons User interface could be more streamlined, I constantly have to hit other tabs to use tools/options that I feel should be lumped together (like editing text, all text editing and formatting options should be together, not under separate tabs). The program does lag if you’re using it for a prolonged period of time. Searching for things is really frustrating, especially how you can simply change a word to plural and get an entire new set of symbols. That definitely needs some work. #### Reasons for switching to SmartDraw I was new to the unit and realized the program that was used for sketches was way too outdated. It is very intuitive and whenever we deploy it to a new user, they are instantly able to maneuver around it quickly. And since they moved to a cloud-based SaaS platform, we don't have to worry about updates or patches #### Cons SmartDraw was not available for Single-Sign-On when we first procured the software. And the software was installed locally. That was an issue for our Cybersecurity team. With SSO not available, updates and patches had to be monitored closely. But that was eventually addressed and it is no longer an issue. So now we no not have any COns to list #### Reasons for switching to SmartDraw Cost and ease of deployment were attractive. Regardless, SmartDraw is more than just a substitute for Visio; it's a robust app with a flatter learning curve than I expected. I was able to easily create the diagram and find the icons that were perfect for my purposes. SmartDraw anticipated the features I needed, which helped reduce the time I spent completing my project. The tutorials and help engine also helped me visualize my end-product more easily. I am now using SmartDraw to build a Gantt chart to help me manage my project. Again, I have used MS Project and MS Excel for this in the past, and I am pleased that I can now do everything right in SmartDraw. #### Cons So far, I haven't found anything significantly lacking in SmartDraw. If I do find something that I don't like as I continue to use the program, I will update my review. #### Reasons for choosing SmartDraw Canva is supposed to be easy to use, but it isn't for me. In addition, it doesn't do everything that SmartDraw can do. #### Reasons for switching to SmartDraw After retirement, I was no longer eligible to purchase MS Visio, but my need for workflow diagrams, project management tools, etc., remained. Not only for us to keep record of our retail stores floor plans for city permit applications, but also for our merchandising teams to keep track of plans for future merchandise roll outs. The customer support is extremely helpful as well, we had new team members join and we were able to schedule a tutorial with the Smart Draw team. If documents need to be traded with users who are using Visio, there will be issues-- especially if drawings need to be updated or converted across several users. While they may provide some help, there is not much detail about what steps to take when things DO NOT work -- so one needs to call in and request support. No exactly the fastest turnaround. #### Reasons for choosing SmartDraw Didn't choose one. As stated above, Smart Draw only eliminates other tools, if there is no requirements to share or update documents from those tools. I have encountered each issue multiple times on different computers with different operating systems so I know it is the program. Issues range from minor issues like I try to expand walls or measure lines with a click and drag of a mouse and the wall or measure lines jumps from 3 foot in length to 45 foot in length or longer or I try to copy and paste a door and a wall gets pasted to major and the most frustrating issues like locking up every 10 - 15 minutes or after a I save a file then reopen it later, doors and windows have moved, room measure lines in some places have moved (even locking objects does not fix this). They sent me an updated version, but it did not help. Not many, we tried hard to use it for our intended purposes for 6-12 months. Then we gave up. Now we use it infrequently when we need to create a simple visual. Neither turned out to be true. This tool will give you a good variety of templates, but if you want to move something manually... forget it. Don't like how the basic flowchart looks or need to make room for a 3rd branch? You'll go back to Visio after a month. Project plans look create, but when you need to update 1 date good luck. ugh. I used to implement software monitoring solution at customer site. Very often I have been asked to insert as background of the network map the floor plan of the building to easily determine the physical location of the network devices. #### Cons At time I used it there was not SmartDraw Cloud now available.
