WorkflowGen is a cloud-based and on-premise business process management solution for organizations of all sizes and most industries. The software helps organizations automate human and system-based business processes.

WorkflowGen provides a form designer which allows users to create customized web forms. The form designer tool incorporates coding in HTML and Java, removing the need for a plug-in or additional software to generate forms. The software also offers functions such as automatic escalation, automatic synchronization, delegation management, email notifications and layout customization.

Users can create custom reports and dashboards to monitor real-time activity from their homepage. It includes tools to approve or decline large numbers of requests at once.

WorkflowGen offers mobile apps for iOS and Android. Support is provided through an online forum and direct support is available for a fee. WorkflowGen can be used for free or purchased with a per-month subscription.

    WorkflowGen allowed our business to migrate away from manual and time consuming paper-based processes, providing a seamless and effective alternative solution. Workflow processes and forms are easily created and used across all our departments from Purchase Orders to I.T Authorization and Compliance. Processes can now be traced, reported on and searched for in a way that was not possible before.

    Reliable system with superb customer support

    WorkflowGen is a staple system in our business processes. We adopted WorkflowGen in 2008 and it quickly proved to be very stable and reliable. The initial installation was performed by the vendor and we received training to develop forms and workflows. Maintenance of WorkflowGen has always been simple to perform and we have rarely resorted to customer support. We relied more on customer support during the initial development of forms and workflows which, due to the high level of customization, has been historically centralized within the IT Department. Our experience with Advantys' customer support has consistently been great and they have always been responsive, knowledgeable, effective and courteous. Recently we upgraded to version 6 and we took this opportunity to review our internal process for creating forms and workflows. We now expect to further increase the use of WorkflowGen by empowering users with administrative requirements to create their own forms and workflows.

    Strong and flexible software, but not without a decent learning curve

    Pros: WorkflowGen's software has a good balance between user-friendly, GUI-oriented interfaces and structure for the non-technical to easily build non-technical things. There are a heck of a lot of features that can be used, with impressive flexibility behind it to meet the requirements of more applications that you might expect. A balance that can be hard to reach. For the technically savvy, WorkflowGen is fitting for you as well. There are build-in ways to build upon WorkflowGen, such as custom database interaction, writing custom form component definitions and javascript, C# code and classes. WorkflowGen can give all different levels of users and administrators ways to accomplish what they want. Cons: While it's most frequently possible to do what you want, it can be challenging to implement without WorkflowGen support. There is certainly effort on the WorkflowGen team's part as far as documentation, design, and support are concerned, but it's something I see as an area of improvement. It is difficult to envision a customer taking WorkflowGen, getting it running and learning how to use it on their own. Support from WorkflowGen to do this isn't quite required, but it might as well be for most. Installation type stuff should be more straight-forward and reliable, and ramping up from the easy stuff to the difficult stuff should be more doable. A difficult thing for developers of systems like WorkflowGen to create without lacking in other areas, but I think something that can be done here.

    We have been using this tool for close to 10 years now and it has proven to be a valuable tracking tool for our change management system as well as other processes we've added over the past several years. With WFG, we have easily glided through annual control audits, providing all the required documentation requested by our internal and external auditors. Advantys has been a strong vendor partner, responding to all our questions and requests for changes. They also assisted us in system upgrades. I highly recommend the WorkflowGen tool to every company seeking a strong, flexible, workflow tool.
