Exactly what a pastor needs

I have enjoyed Logos significantly and would highly recommend it to any pastor or leader looking for a study resource.

PROS

Logos is deep and rich with valuable insight and information to help any pastor better prepare for sermons, bible studies and small groups. The search feature is very good and creates a lot of options for reading and research. There is plenty of resources here that everyday pastors' will find incredibly useful. This software saves time by having all the information in one spot and makes having a large library unnecessary. The phone app is pretty good as well, although I don't find I use it much.

CONS

It's a bit expensive, which will limit some from being able to access of the great features. That being said, it's worth the price if you're able to afford it. The layout is a bit clunky sometimes with several windows on one screen and I find that difficult to navigate. It could be that I use a 13" laptop but I suspect it would be the same on a larger screen. I can't say I have a different idea of how it should work so this criticism is not significant.

Best Software Around

I've been using Logos for over a decade, and I will continue to do so for decades to come. Logos has allowed me to study God's word with ease, while still getting the depth of content that I need and want. I can integrate Logos with other software from the Faithlife family of products. I would reccomend investing money in training so that you can benefit the most from the available features.

PROS

Logos is the industry standard -- pastors, seminary students, and lay-leaders look to Logos for content, as well as for the tools to study the bible well. Logos is top of the line in all of this. I can easily access and study hunderds of books from my library, on my computer, or phone. I can do in an hour what used to take 6 or more hours. Hugely helpful software.

CONS

There are some functions that are puzzling on how to use. Some of the functionality is difficult -- it can be hard to search for certain themes or topics at times. But these are mostly ancillary things, and the overall product is still excellent.

Disappointed

Decent

PROS

The massive library, the tools, and the functionality.

CONS

Expensive seems like something new is being offered for another expensive price. I called support for what I thought to be a simple matter {word fine puzzle} because I cannot get it to work any longer, actually hasn't worked in several years. I was told over the phone this was a small matter and that is why it has not been addressed. Are you kidding me?!!! Now don't get me wrong I love this program but to act like something I use is a small matter is outrageous!

Great tool at a not so great price

Its simplifying my time in the office and on the go.

PROS

This put me between a rock and a hard place. It sure is a good thing they have a payment plan. I literally spent more on this than a good used car. However it is worth it if this is your main go to tool as a student of scripture. Now it’s a steep learning curve for sure but they do have some tools that ease this pain. And they do have good customer service. But once you get it paid off and once you get past the learning curve it is very beneficial. I now only use this to do the grunt of my study and sermon prep.

CONS

The steep learning curve and cost. And it takes up a ton of hard drive if you get fully vested into it.

Best Bible Study Software Without a Doubt

Excellent! I love this software and use it almost day and suggest it to others as well.

PROS

I can study the Bible in the original languages (I only know New Testament Greek, but I will be learning Hebrrew). I love that I can open what is known as the "Factbook" and type in any topic to see what resources in my Logos library address the topic. I can also search for any Bible passage, and Logos will show all pertinent resources. I can plan all my sermons, and take extensive notes all from Logos.

CONS

The pricing can be high for added new resources to the library. This can be reduced by buying grouped resources. While its most basic functions are easy, some of the features require a lot of knowledge to use, and documentation isn't always available.

Reasons for switching to Logos Bible Software

esword is free software that has little support and few resources compared to Logos. I needed something more powerful.

I love using Logos for my Bible studies, Bible college coursework, and to create faith articles.

The benefits of using Logos is wonderful. Once you become oriented to what it has to offer and how to access it quickly - it becomes a gold mine of information to help you in your personal walk of faith, Biblical studies, and to create content to help others.

PROS

The features are fabulous and the quality is excellent. Customer support is great if you need help. The program offers a wide range of resources and information for the user. You can add to the library as you go at your own pace.

CONS

Can be overwhelming to use at first, even for those with some technical background in using software programs. The pricing could be better in my personal opinion so more people can access the program content.

Comprehensive but Friendly Bible Tool

I truly love this Bible App for what it offers and the style it uses.

PROS

+ What love about the app is that It has more Bible Study Tools than one would demand. The menu itself was professionally categorized for easy direction to any user. +When you want to go to specific text of the Bible, it gives an easy and flexible menu for locating the desired verse. You can choose to check a Bible verse by quickly picking it from the grid view, or by typing the passage on a field above the grid, or by scrolling a freely flowing table of contents. You can also use the recent and favorites sections which the application automatically saves for you as you read the Bible + Has a dictionary that offers instant definitions as you read through the Bible. It is a very quick and convenient way of learning any new subject or area of spiritual life you desire to grow.

CONS

If I am to talk of the downside of the app, I would only mention of file size being big on android. I am saying that because the app is 75MB of size before downloading modules.

I had a base package that was purchased for me 10 years ago. I recently upgraded to Logos 10 and have been surprised at how much better and quicker it runs.

PROS

I love the added physical library search feature. Having a personal library of over a thousand books makes that feature invaluable.

CONS

There's a bit of a learning curve to the program as it can do so much.

PROS

Simple access to various forms of research on any passage of Scripture (languages, dictionaries, commentaries, historical documents, books, etc.)

CONS

There are so many resources to keep indexed and functioning together that it demands a majority of my computer's system resources often "bogging" my computer down or just making Logos run slowly.

My study of scripture has improved exponentially.

PROS

I used the Catholic version of Logos (Verbum). Not only is it first-rate Bible software but it also provides in-depth access to the writings of the Church Fathers and great theologians, saints and mystics from throughout Church history!

CONS

Not always the most intuitive interface. Would like to see better online help features and tutorials.

Best money can buy - only so much you can do

In many ways it is overkill for the typical pastor. I teach through the Bible and often it takes a year to get through two books of the Bible. It is hard to find the time to utilize everything on Logos unless you start studying Logos. And I feel the purpose is to study the Bible and not get tied up with hours of technical abilities to use the software. Don’t get me wrong it is wonderful and I love it but I was hoping that the upgrades would help bring further time saving tools. But I feel in all the packages I just get so many things that I don’t need all at once. It’s easier just to order the single study book or whatever I’m studying then to buy the whole series. I was also excited when LOGOS purchased WORDsearch products which I owned and now they are merged into logos.

PROS

LOGOS software is the best Bible software on the market and its features are incredible. I even joined Morris Proctor subscription to learn more about LOGOS and its features. But then I end up studying LOGOS software more than the Bible.

CONS

I think the main problem is it’s just too much. I want to use it to study the Bible not to spend hours figuring out how the software works. Many books that you purchase in packages are like infomercial channels you get on cable. It’s very expensive and it seems every year with the upgrade you lose a level even though they say you don’t. I just purchased platinum but now while it’s still platinum in Logos 8 The upgrade brought me a level down. It seems like an endless ability to catch up to portfolio which is way beyond what I need this for. There’s only so many study materials you can use even when they are virtual. What I have seems sufficient. I don’t need endless magazines from the 1950s to today. The video courses are a bit bland.

Reason for choosing Logos Bible Software

Products available at this time. Customerservice is top notch! You guys made yourself available and I wanted to see how far I could go in learning the actual languages and you made that available to me. Unfortunately by now there is so much to learn and to spend valuable time on that I just don’t have time looking at every book that is available in packages. Morris Proctor is amazing. His courses really helped out but again it’s a time issue. It’s just too much stuff. There’s only so much you can pull up to study for a passage.

Reasons for switching to Logos Bible Software

I believe I started Logos back in 2008. It was sleek and beautifully laid out so I was sold even though it was expensive.

Complex But Complete

My use of the software is nearly identical each week (each use). I rotate among six or seven resources in my vast Library but rarely "stray" farther than that. Perhaps my experience is minimal compared to other users. While I enjoy the product, if I were to put a percentage on how much of it I utilize . . . maybe 35%. I only purchase an upgrade (or individual titles) when I must and, then, for as inexpensively as possible.

PROS

The range of resources is quite vast. So many titles are available for purchase with occasionally free/reduced-price items are offered. Perhaps the key is the integration of each title in the customer's Library. The interconnectivity is rather good.

CONS

The price for base packages is a bit on the steep side. While there are (free) updates provided for the customer's current version, there is a bit of pressure to purchase an upgrade when it becomes available. Though the upgrade is not required, support wanes for older versions. The often-expensive upgrade adds more resources, however the vast majority do not apply to my situation yet are part of the all-or-nothing upgrade. Also, there are so many menus and options along with "sub-menus" and "sub-options" that makes fully utlizing this software a nearly-insurmountable challenge.

Reasons for switching to Logos Bible Software

I currently use both BibleWorks and Logos, often simultaneously for different purposes. BibleWorks is easier to use even though Logos probably offers similar resources for my needs. The problem is the company that operated BibleWorks went out-of-business several years ago and no longer offers any support (or software).

A nearly perfect Bible software

This is the most used and most cherished program on my Mac. I have been a Logos (formerly Libronix) user since 1999. I am thankful for the effort and ingenuity of the Logos team to continue to advance the exceptional quality of their product.

PROS

You can't beat having an entire digital library in the palm of your hands. The speed at which users can access resources is unparalleled and the linking up of books is genius.

CONS

Two features that would dramatically improve my Logos experience: 1. Allow users to move more quickly through opened resources. At present a user has to click on the left and right button in order to move through resources. This is slow, cumbersome and inefficient. Especially when a user has 20 or more resources opened. 2. On the mobile app allow users to set their own highlighter defaults. The current default is set to highlighter. But this user prefers solid colors as well as bold, underline and large text. This feature would be greatly improved if you allowed user to selected their own default highlight once a text is selected rather than creating a few extra steps.

Best Bible and Literature Research Software on the Market

My overall experience with Logos is that is makes my research of important topics for projects more efficient and easier to complete. This software also allows me to take an entire research library anywhere I go. This is the best research software that I know of.

PROS

What I like most is that this software transforms books into resources that can be searched and analyzed. I also enjoy that the Layout feature that allows me to save a layout of books for next timeI want to work on that particular project.

CONS

This software’s weakness is its strength. It is so powerful and feature rich that it can take time to learn and memorize the feature. Another downfall is that the books for this software are more than print books, typically.

Reason for choosing Logos Bible Software

I chose Logos because of its versatility, breadth and depth of available resources, and its stability as a company.

Reasons for switching to Logos Bible Software

I made the switch because my previous employer provided a free basic version of the software.

Difficult to learn

My overall experience with Logos Bible Software has not been pleasant. I would happily go back to WordSearch if that were a possibility.

PROS

Logos has a wide range of Bible study resources. It has most of the Bible study products that I need.

CONS

I wish Logos was more intuitive. The learning curve is rather steep. I'm an old man and being forced, because of a buyout, to change from WordSearch to Logos was not a good experience for me. WordSearch had a feature called ZipScript. It allowed me to use other software without having the WS running and still quickly and easily copy and paste passages from the WS library. Logos is not as easy to operate, in fact, it is a computer resource hog. For example, having it running while using video editing software often causes my computer to freeze. Sometimes causing me to lose all my hard work.

Reason for choosing Logos Bible Software

Logos has more resources on it's platform, plus Pocket Bible is primarily designed for mobile devices.

Reasons for switching to Logos Bible Software

Logos bought WordSearch and then shut it down.

Logos 8 review

Overall, your product is great. I use it everyday to write sermons, Sunday school lessons, and Bible studies. Your customer service is great. You offer free and discounted books every month. I recommend this product to all my minister friends.

PROS

The thing I use the most is for the Greek and Hebrew. Also, the multiple translations. The integration of books is also very useful. I also enjoy all the free books. I glad you keep upgrading your product, but this is also a con (see below).

CONS

Learning a new program every year or every other year. All changes makes it hard to keep up, especially when you get used to a certain way of doing things. Your full new program upgrades are expensive for a minister on a small budget. I would appreciate a full upgrade with all the features without spending $200 or plus dollars.

Logos Bible Software and Customer Support

PROS

The software is used daily for sermon prep, Bible studies, etc. Still trying to learn how to use the sermon builder. So far, it seems to guide me onto a specific path or routine. Haven't tried the integration with Word, PowerPoint, and Proclaim. I called customer support because I wasn't able to upgrade my Logos 8 to 9. CS was extremely patient and helpful. My Logos 9 now works! If I have 5 stars to give, I'll give 10.

CONS

Steep learning curve = A bit overwhelming, but still learning to use it.

Reason for choosing Logos Bible Software

It was a necessary move since Wordsearch was bought by Logos. But Logos sees to it that all my purchased resources from WS were able to migrate to Logos.

An investment, but definitely worth it.

I have been using Logos for 15 years, and it keeps getting better. The library I have available to me enables me to learn God's Word and teach it better than I could have done without it. Although it is quite an investment, it has been worth it for me. Would highly recommend it! My only caution would be to wait until after seminary to purchase it. I found myself relying too heavily on its tools while learning the original languages, so I didn't learn them as well as I should have. Would recommend waiting until you have a good handle on the languages before you purchase it.

PROS

Gives me access to more resources than I could ever use, dramatically enriching my Bible study while saving tremendous time.

It is expensive to purchase and keep upgraded.

Logos has changed the way I read & study God's word. I'm in Bible College & having Logos is a must!

PROS

Where to start? The amount of resources at the top of your finger and all in one place? The books, commentaries, and other resources that come with the base package is worth much more than what you pay. They have almost every book you would purchase on Amazon and then you can have those tools open with multiple translations of Bibles, and whatever commentaries you want to use. I write sermons using Logos and they have tools that help with that as well!

Logos for Preachers

Overall I love using Logos. It is extremely helpful when studying the Bible and depending on how large your library is, there is even more that can be done.

PROS

Logos is a great software that allows you to study, read, and prepare for messages. It is also a great software for a layperson who just wants to study their Bible more thoroughly. The amount of features available is amazing! I use it mainly to prepare for the messages that I preach and the notes and clipping documents make it easy to see everything that I deem important to the specific message I am preparing.

CONS

The amount of features is amazing but is also sometimes overwhelming. There are a lot of options and sometimes that is intimidating leading to not using it as much as possible. They used to be a little bit slow as well but their upgrade to be able to work with the Apple Silicon chip has helped a lot.

Logos Bible Software makes my study time more productive

PROS

Logos is a vast software. It allows me to access my library with a few clicks and saves me hours of time in research (or to be honest, it allows me to do research that I would otherwise skip). The functionality of the Logos apps allows me to study on my mobile device even when I am on the road.

CONS

The vastness is also one of Logos' drawbacks. This program huge and there are literally 2 day seminars to teach you how to use it. I will never use anywhere close to its full functionality. It also requires a very fast PC/MAC to run well.

Good, if you have the money

PROS

I love the ease of finding a lot of information about a text quickly on one screen. I also enjoy being about to work across my desktop, tablet, and phone somewhat seamlessly.

CONS

The software itself is expensive. Also, the resources are costly; it is almost always cheaper to buy a used commentary from the internet than to buy the same commentary in Logos. Finally, the newer version is a memory hog and runs slow, even on my fairly new laptop.

Reason for choosing Logos Bible Software

Logos was smoother and more polished than its competitors.
