Bitbucket Software

Bitbucket is a collaborative Git solution that allows users to review codes with pull requests. Users can have discussions with coders in the source code with inline comments. The software provides a multi-deployment option as it can be hosted in the cloud or on-premise.

Configuration as code enables developers to manage their own delivery workflows. Users can configure Bitbucket pipelines by adding a bitbucket-pipelines.yml file to the root of a repository. Bitbucket pipelines show build statuses automatically on branches, commits and pull requests.

Branch permissions provide limited access controls to team members, so that only users with knowledge of editing codes can make changes to the code. Users can analyze the changes in repositories with unified or side-by-side views while reviewing codes.

The solution integrates with other applications such as JIRA, Hipchat, Bamboo and trello. Support is provided via an online forum, email and phone. Pricing is per user per month.

if we are moving from one environment to other environment then we can see messed up code with branches and we can not generate log number against each commit.

Pros

It is one of the leading remote repository application for Version Control systems. It has pretty good integration with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, CircleCI and Travis.

Cons

It doesn't highlight the change of code when there is an indent change in the code. It could be difficult sometimes to search your own repositories. You need to maintain the server if you have hosted Bitbucket on one of your own servers

Pros

This is another great version control repository that uses Git. Has a great UI for tracking code changes and really easy to setup repositories. And, works integrates well with jira as well!

Cons

It runs slow sometimes before but haven't been for a couple of months now. Also, 3 repositories for free is a bit low I think.

A Smooth and Savvy Git Repository -

Ease-of-use

Value for Money

Atlassian Bitbucket is a smooth, intuitive, low-profile and very capable git repository. It functions exactly how you would want it to and can be considered a solid alternative, or addition to GitHub. The user interface and functionality have been markedly improved from previous versions, which were slightly less forgiving for newer developers. It was always a good product, and now it is even better, with continuous improvement and wonderful new beta features being added regularly. I love this platform and I'm anticipating the opportunity to test out the new features and see where they will go in the future.

Pros

Atlassian Bitbucket has a clean, user friendly interface. You can store full code, team projects, as well as code snippets, and search your code. There is support for large files. Bitbucket has easily accessible links with tutorials and tricks to get started, even at the very basic beginner level. It is fully collaborative for development teams with variable needs. The best advantage of this platform over GitHub is it allows for private code repositories in the free model. You can control access to your code with public or private repos, and even fine tune access control with additional rules and extensions on the premium mode. There are tons of excellent integrations, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Python, Visual Studio, Circle CI. and more. New beta features seem to be added regularly. The free model is great and the upgrades are reasonably priced. This is a well-rounded, excellently performing, continuously expanding code hosting platform that is well-suited to support your individual or team projects.

Cons

Previously, there was a slight learning curve in the processes, but this has been smoothed out. There are no real cons that I can think of, except that the open-source social celebrity aspects of GitHub are not a prominent feature here. However, if you are not looking for these aspects, you will likely be very happy with all of the features which are included to support your building endeavors.

Cons

No feature to search in the code which is a big feature left out. - its UI component source tree has too many issues with updates.

Bitbucket reigns in the Git chaos

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Product Quality

Customer Support

Value for Money

Bitbucket is necessary to keep some control over Git, which is by definition a free and open world.

Pros

Several layers of security and protection. I am able to restrict users and groups of users from projects. I can also restrict access to past branches to read only. The layers of security means that senior programmers cna push their changes while junior programmers must submit a pull request to have a senior level person review their changes prior to being incorporated.

Cons

Git in and of itself can be hard for people to learn and adapt to -- especially the senior level people who grew up with the storage locker mentality towards source control.

Value for Money

Pros

Private repositories
Has everything for complete project management for very small teams, e.g Integrated wiki for documentation, trello - for task management, file repository for managing downloadable contents etc.
Choice of VCS system between git/mercural
Can add code snippet for sharing with other and for storing small pieces of code that are not part of the actual source code, e.g. deployment scripts etc.

Cons

Free tier users are not counted when number of users cross the allowed limit of 5 free users, e.g. if you are five users, you pay nothing, but if you are 6 or above, you pay for all users. This is limiting for growing teams and start ups as the cost per month shoots up suddenly.

Overall, Bitbucket gets the work done and is convenient to use once you get acquainted with it.
I would definitely recommend this software to my colleagues.

Pros

I use bitbucket on a daily basis in my work.
It is very easy to setup. Also, we have free private repositories, which makes it very beneficial.
Integration with other Atlassian product helps in getting work done faster.

Cons

Not much of a con, but the administrative screen requires a bit of a learning curve.
It could be made more intuitive.
Other than that, couldn't find any other flaw in this.

Integrity of Bitbucket with other DevOps is also great and encourage for management for pick this up as version controlling.

Cons

There a some learning curves in it as a new feature come in their is no demo for it and add with just a small note and a documentation which make that feature completely out of the league. Bitbucket streamlines our team's daily workflow, as it lets us collaborate easily and in a well-structured and -organized way. We started using Bitbucket when our IT department consisted of only me, but it scales very well with the team. The cost-value balance is perfectly...balanced.

Pros

Bitbucket is a well organized and designed version control system that's super easy to use. I use Bitbucket on a daily basis and, together with Atlassian's SourceTree, it enhances my workflow by sparing me from typing in all the git commands in Terminal. It has all the features a version control needs, which is extremely useful for small teams but also scales really well.

Cons

There is nothing really that I don't like about Bitbucket. Maybe that you can't assign yourself as reviewer when creating a pull request, ha.

Overall, my experience with Bitbucket has been a positive experience. Out of all the interfaces I've tried for Git, I would say this application takes the cake for the most features that I use.

Pros

This software is easy to setup and use. I've used it for version control on a few of my projects and I think it's probably the best interface for github for Windows 10. Anyone can set it up and it allows users that aren't fond of using the command line for their version controlled projects.

Cons

I am not a big fan of the layout or design of this software. It feels dated and I feel like certain things could be moved in a more convenient places. Not a huge deal but I feel like things could be changed in the aesthetic department of this app to complement the functionality.

BitBucket is a perfectly fine tool for their free plan. If you would need a paid plain, it may or may not make sense vs. other services depending on your number of users and repositories. As a service, it works just fine, however.

Pros

- Free unlimited hosting of Git repositories for up to 5 members
- Pipelines can be a great way to quickly get a CI system running
- Ability to view code fullscreen is awesome
- Comes with wiki, issue tracker, and even embedded Trello boards

Cons

- Relies too heavily on keyboard shortcuts to bring up some functionality, like searching
- Pipelines have a very low monthly allowance compared to other services, so they're not useful unless it's for a hobby project or you're on a paid plan

Bitbucket was used to version control few project of my degree program and help in other research areas.

Pros

Bitbucket is a simple and easy way to manage your projects by uploading the code files to the repository and updating the as the project progresses. This allow us to keep track of the changes done to the code and it act as a backup of sorts. By adding the code to a private repository the code can be view by authorized people.

Cons

The UI of Bitbucket is not so user friendly or appealing to the users. And the application tend to get slow when a large amount of data is uploading. And the searching within the Bitbucket repository is limited and can't search for specific code segments.
