It does a wide range of things and is easy to use.

I also needed to watch a few YouTube videos. I'm happy that they finally integrated the MP3 encoder.

If you are looking for a great solution for editing sound files, look no further than Audacity.

The most amazing part of audacity is that it is free and open-source and can be used on any OS, be it Windows, a macOS, or even GNU/Linux.

Available for Windows, MacOS, and Linux too. Great for mixing audios.

These are just the ones I used and can compare it with but I can say it is a very excellent app in comparison with the ones I mentioned.

This software is free which made it great for starters.

It didn't work well on my HP laptop, so I had to put the program on my computer which has faster programming and it seems to fix the issue.

It's limited compared to a DAW and we can't change audio on a video.

For the free software that it is, this software is a good alternative.

After 6 hours of editing and episode for my podcast, the files corrupted. I was devastated and so stressed out and frustrated I laid on my floor and cried.

It's a free downloadable program, and the quality/value you get for that is insane. Highly highly recommend, this is my go to editing software since I just do it for fun.

I am finding it difficult to separate vocals, I wonder if the effect really works because my attempts have proved abortive.

Audacity is widely used and has a large community of support.

From what I can tell, you cannot edit one side of a stereo file without editing another. My apologies if I am wrong, but it's the only thing I've noticed so far.

Pleased that I don't have to spend money on a program. This does all that I need.

I work with some audios from interviews and to start a podcast. The program let me do the common tasks as cut, trim, do some mixes to make intros and outros, etc.

The price is great (free!), you won't find better free software for basic editing of sound for any application, removing white noise, etc.

They make it easy to install Plug-ins and has built in support to help users out. I record live audio in different sessions.

Audacity suffers from one of the ugliest graphical user interfaces out there. Contrast is poor, the blue-on-grey aesthetic is exhausting, and the icons are straight out of a clipart site from 1998.

I use it now for my current job as a language teacher, in order to create my own podcasts or audio files to integrate in my videos or exercises for my students.

I love that it allows you to have multiple tracks you can edit separately for FREE. As someone interested in podcasting, most of it is relatively intuitive.

For ware, its size to my utter disbelieves its a miracle worker.

It allows for really high-level audio editing and manipulation, and is free. Even though there’s no real customer support, you can find out how to do most things via a vast online wiki.

I've known of audacity since elementary school and have occasionally used it here and there to do a quick edit on my music files. Needless to say, I am happy with its simplicity.

Audacity is perfect for simple edits and audio clean ups. I use it for recording podcasts and tutorials and would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple audio editor.

For instance, after the audio recording has stopped one would logically export it to a folder where it would be saved. But you have to press stop, even if the recording has stopped.

Ve primarily used Audacity for preparing recordings and other audio for film, and for this purpose it's great.

I love that it's easy to use. The best part for me is that you can download additional features and Plug-ins or even create your own if you know some coding.

I think this product was a upgrade to the old program Cool Edit which I used for many years. I like the ease of use and the FREE price.

I like playing guitars with backing tracks. I love Audacity because it is very easy to use and make my own backing tracks.

With everything going on right now, everyone is trying to save money and this program works well and adds value to my recordings. I use it personally and love that it is always improving.

It's free and is great if you are on a tight budget. It served it's purpose and gave me an opportunity to record music that sounded like great demos.

I like to record podcasts, radio dramas, etc. and was recommended this program as a free, good program for that purpose. It's an excellent deal for the money ($0).

Learning curve is slow and frustrating, specially if you want to work with different tracks.

In the case of separation,  more of a single track enclosed recording ware, where all the unwanted background noises are pre-eliminated or rather a sound aggregate for the video guy.

I got this tool for captioning initially, now I use it for all my videos. It's easy to use and the support was good.

I absolutely love Descript and have recommended it to multiple people. It's been a *huge* time save when it comes to editing.

I love how easy it is to edit audio using the auto transcription. It allows for other great features like filler word and word gap detection/removal.

The recent update to removing filler words has been cutting off words from either side of the filler word.

I love using this for podcast editing because it's so easy. I can edit out filler words quickly, and I love having a transcript of the episode ready for some quick edits.

I love how simple it is to use. I love how I can open it up, it's organized, easy to start a new project, edit away, and export easily to other applications as well as .mp3 or.

And when I asked a sound technician to check my quality he was impressed with the sound. The room tone is a great addition.

However, even though those additions have been more than welcome, what I consider the platform's top feature is something that has been at its core for quite some time: Descript's transcription tool.

There have been two occasions in last few months where Descript just stopped working. I lost days' worth of work on broadcast critical projects.

My overall experience with Descript has been wonderful. I wouldn't recommend it to my new podcasting clients if it wasn't a solid product with good customer support.

The product has so many features and i am learning new features everyday. Love that i can eliminate 4-5 pieces of software.

Perhaps stupidly, i carried on using Descript. A month or so later a Composition (their name for a document within a project) I was working on just stopped working.

The integrated transcription function is really useful and the Overdub feature is very cool for being able to make edits without re-recording and splicing in audio.

I wish they had an affiliate program because I would be making some money. Lol My only issue is with the screen recording but understand this is a new feature and they are still working out the bugs.

Remove your filler words with one click One of the most amazing things is that you can remove the filler words with one click. It’s also super easy to use.

And they seem to always show up, even when they've been corrected previously, so it's unclear whether the 'machine' is actually 'learning.

Love that they also make such regular improvements based on customer needs. Great customer service, great product.

Overall, I'm thrilled with what Descript has brought to my show. I'm even more excited to post new episodes now because I know each week the listeners are getting a better and better show.

It is very inexpensive compared to other tools or hiring freelancers. Descript enables me to make more high-quality content, and repurpose existing content into other formats.

I love how easy it is once it is set up to create a project, drag a video in, and get an entire transcription for it without taking almost any time.

I have found Descript easy to use, fantastic that I can see the transcript and manipulate it to get the recording that I need. The drag and drop of video and music is so easy and brilliant.

It can be a bit confusing with a steep learning curve initially. It took some time to get set up and used to.

I love being able to add multiple compositions into a single project - it keeps things wonderfully organized.

It will require some work on your end is you need it presentable, but I’d you’re just using it for recordings, it does a really great job.

I don't like the organization on the home page, I don't quite understand the folders.

I love they're constantly adding new features and now I can do my video and audio editing in one place. The pricing is fair for the AI transcription service.

In particular, I was really impressed by the accuracy of the transcription tool's AI.

I love it and recommended it to many who are using it successfully. One the one hand it’s quicker to edit but takes longer because I can create more assets.

That there is no way to edit two separate tracks in one audio. I.e. two people speaking with their own audios).

The ability to organise, collaborate and publish an audio project in the cloud with a friendly interface is great and used to be a huge pain to figure out.

The Sequence feature is still a mystery to me. I'm not sure why there is a composition and a sequence option, but I do see the difference. I think it would make more sense to have them combined.
