Very Good Loan Servicing Software
Good experience overall. Anyone looking to lighten their load and automate things where loan processing is concerned should try implementing this software.
PROSAs a Financial Service company, we also process loans for clients. This is a very good loan servicing software that helps you to keep track of loans in the pipeline, email or text customers with updates or questions, generate documents, etc. It's an all-in-one system that replaces having to manually do each aspect of loan processing.
CONSThis is a robust system. Long ago doing mortgages, used to use a software called Point, and this is far more updated and sophisticated.

Great Software
A lot of time and cost saving factors such as send statements through the document queue to the print shop.
PROSThis platform is very flexible, we have over 50 different loan programs all of which we have been able to implement quickly and easily from origination to servicing.
CONSThere are a few features on the servicing side which we would have preferred to have had sooner rather than later but NLS has been cooperative in getting these released in recent updates.

We reviewed many platforms and found NLS to be the best value.

Nortridge Loan System Review from Consumer Finance Organization
The system is highly customizable and easy to use. The NLS development and support teams are very responsive and willing to work with your business needs.
CONSThe system is highly customizable. Many basic features that I feel should be part of a financial servicing system must be customized in NLS or performed outside of the system. NLS has recently incorporated in later releases but we have not been able to halt our customized processes and implement the new functionality. Reporting is not great. Most of our reports have been written to run outside of NLS with custom scripting.

Ability to customize to our business needs and have daily accrual and amortization processing.

Product was being fazed out and did not offer as much flexibility or customization.

Nortridge Loan System
Overall the partner relationship is a good one with Nortridge being very attentive to our needs.
PROSIt is very customizable and you can pretty much do anything you need to do. Some more complicated than others depending on the requirements on your business.
CONSThe upgrades are sometimes very cumbersome, requiring a lot of testing. Sometimes because of the size of our data, we have problems with things like schema changes.

Nortridge for Loan Servicing
We have been long time users of the software, as buyers of existing loans we have a diverse portfolio of accounts. These accounts have many different setups. The NLS system has never been unable to handle the setup on a loan. It is also great that we can customize the software to fit our specific needs.
CONSI can not think of any cons at this time.

NLS System
The largest problems we are having as a licensed user of NLS is latency between using the application an it communicating with the server. The latency is the biggest complaint among staff, and there seems to be no readily available solution to fix this without going higher and higher up the chain of command.
PROSThe customization of the software was the key selling point for my company. It has a plethora of features, and I know that we are not using it to its full capabilities.
CONSCustomization feels like it has a barrier to entry. The programming languages are not made apparent up front, and the APIs documentation is difficult to find and sometimes lacking in detailed information.

Platform for growth
Excellent.
PROSI use this software to bend down the cost curve during our rapid period of growth. Without the tools this software provides the challenges we face would could not be solved and our expense load would be much much greater.
CONSDebugging vbscript is a challenge. I would be nice if there were a way to write vbscript outside the product and then integrated as needed.

Our company got into the loan servicing business without really understanding it. Our attempt to build it from scratch was iladvised and we needed a solid software to support this. Nortridge has done the job
PROSIt does the core functions flawlessly. We still are waiting for better API integrations but they have come a long way.
CONSWe still have issues with support responsiveness. Its taken a long time to get a web client but its on the way.

Adventures in consumer lending
We probably should have taken a bit more time before going live to get more stakeholders involved and sought more participation, in retrospect. Nortridge support and other staff have been invariably capable and friendly.
PROSIt's customizable and able to do just about everything we could need. Some things are cheap and easy, other things are custom but almost everything is possible.
CONSI'm on the IT side so we get support requests. It's not always easy to chase down the reason for things. i.e. The app will crash with no useful UI message or log message if we're in setup while users are in. More detailed logging would be handy.

PROSTHERE ARE A LOT OF AUTOMATED TASKS THAT ARE USEFUL. CUSTOMIZATION. USER DEFINED FIELDS. BANKRUPTCY AUTOMATION.
CONSTHERE ARE MANY TERMS THAT SEEM TO BE UNIQUE TO NLS. IT'S A VERY DIFFERENT SYSTEM FOR SERVICING FROM ANY OTHER SYSTEM I HAVE USED. IT'S BEEN DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS FOR SUB-SERVICING FOR DIFFERENT INVESTORS. WE ARE HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME UNDERSTANDING HOW TO SET UP DIFFERENT PORTFOLIOS AND ARRANGE THE LOANS IN EACH SPECIFIC PORTFOLIO.

Too Complicated For Us
Seemed to do everything, but ... WAY complex for us. We spent about 6 months on it working with them, and never really got it off the ground.
CONSThe product was too complex for us to setup. As in WAY too complex -- lots of tables, programming, we paid them for some support, but in the end it just wasn't off the shelf enough for us.

Very powerful loan processing software with tons of features.
CONSBorrower portal doesn't handle the payments itself - it sends the borrower to a payment processing and then waits for a URL callback to process the payment. They are coming out with a new portal that hopefully will address this issue.
