Larger companies probably find Sharepoint more useful

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Product Quality

Customer Support

Value for Money

Pros

The biggest benefit to Sharepoint is that it is included in our Office 365 subscription, and there is no local server required as you can have a cloud deployment of Sharepoint. All of our organization's employee information is automatically added to Sharepoint, so deployment time is reduced.

Cons

Honestly, it just doesn't feel like Sharepoint was directed towards small businesses. There aren't a lot of features that we found useful, and when we ran into questions or concerns, Microsoft support wasn't very helpful in providing resolutions.

Pros

- Included with Office 365 business premium subscriptions
- The backend for OneDrive, so this is where you saved files are uploaded to.
- Can save directly from Office applications.
- Can create sites for each project/department

Cons

- I feel that Microsoft really needs to scrap SharePoint and start over. It's never been entirely successful for any company I've worked for, and we always end up abandoning Sharepoint after a few years of constant onboarding.

Pros

I have been using sharepoint for past couple of years now, and my experience till now is good. They have a very user friendly product as scheduling; tracking business on day to day basis gets easier. I am able to manage my content and it helps me to mark important tasks and prioritize the work accordingly.

Cons

It is not cloud based compared to it's competitors. Also, it does crashes sometimes but i feel because of the heavy database. As we don't use any other document sharing and content management tools it flickers.

Overall - great product. You just need to keep your site relevant and not allow it to go stale.

Pros

SharePoint was easy to organize and get a departmental website set up quickly (just a couple of weeks). Creating the layout, adding pictures and information was user intuitive.

Cons

The most difficult part of the implementation was designing the security aspect. Luckily, we had a consultant to assist with ensuring our data was seen by the right individuals.

I have always known it as the remote desktop connection and was always satisfied with it. There is no doubt as Sharepoint it is a million times better.

I have the Office365 which comes with 1TB of storage, I use it ALL the time and most of the time can't fault this service.

Pros

Files are uploaded swiftly and on the background, you can use the same desktop app for both your basic free OneDrive and OneDrive for business which for me makes life easier.

Cons

Sometimes changed files fail to upload as another file with same name exists, it is rare but annoying,
A feature which for some reason exists on the "standard" OneDrive but id missing here is the ability to collaborate with co-workers, I want to be able to see if changes where made and by whom like I can do on the standard OneDrive!

We used this product along with a CAD software, organizing and collaborating in real time, making all the parts designed by the engineers very easy to catalog.

Pros

Very easy to use and integrate with other platforms, this products now works well with lync and skype, making it an all-in-one platform.

Cons

This is not a cheap solution since it requires you to license other Microsoft products such as a Windows Server with Active Directory. But this will give you a single sign-on in all the platforms.

It's an invaluable tool for our organisation.

Pros

The user interface is friendly and easy to use and allows for some customisation for marketing and branding of the different departments within our organisation. It is easy to use and solves one of our major problems of distributing secured documents in a large organisation.

Cons

It would be nice to be able to hide certain information from specific users. At present they may not be able to see the documents but they can see all the departments that are using it. If we could make some departments not visible to other departments such as Legal and HR it would be helpful.

With a refreshed UI, this can consolidate its grip in the market.

Pros

It is the most commonly implemented File & Work Sharing solution you would find in most established business setups. So, in that sense, this is the most familiar tool and hence quite easy to get hands-on.

Cons

But, it is quite dated in terms of its UI and Ease of Use. You have to learn a certain set of procedure to deal with Files and Folders Access which are not very intuitive.

I would recommend this tool for teams to use

Pros

One of the biggest pros is the accessibility of this tool from any device.
Also the FLOW feature is so amazing as it allows to transfer tasks between team members without any issues.

Cons

There is no option to add a document to the library with read only access rights, basically anyone can modify your document unless you restrict access to the whole library, which is inconvenient. Because for example I would want my team to upload individual templates with their holiday days off request but at the same time I don’t want them to modify each other’s calendar requests. So each file has to be uploaded to individual libraries which restrict other people’s access. A bit crazy.

Pros

I use Sharepoint to create sites and pages that I can use to keep the rest of my team up to date with what I am working on. Creating and editing sites is pretty easy, and hypothetically, if my other team members follow the site, or know where to find the site, they can easily see what I have published.
Sharepoint sites also have the ability to display Microsoft forms, which is a feature that I use. If you are using Microsoft 365 there are a variety of features that crossover.

Cons

Personally, although SharePoint is functional, I don't like the way it looks and I don't enjoy using it. I wish it behaved more like a drag-and-drop web editor vs. a Microsoft program. But since it is a Microsoft program it makes sense that it has some of the feel and appearance of other programs like Word, Excel, etc. Personally I don't enjoy that and I don't find it very intuitive.

In general, Sharepoint has allowed to have a better organization of documents that are important and useful for the organization, allowing sharing them with the required users and that they can access and modify them, facilitating in this way the collaborative work and the efficient management of the information within the organization.

Pros

What I like most about this software is that it is an integral work tool in which it is possible to perform multiple tasks in a collaborative way, allowing to share different files with different users and access them from anywhere, thanks to the fact that their services work in the cloud, in this way it is a practical and powerful documentation center. It also has the ability to integrate with different versions of Microsoft Office applications that is one of the most used computer packages.

Cons

What I like least about the software is that it can be a bit complex to use, especially for users with basic knowledge of computer science, therefore it requires that the users have technical skills to be able to use it efficiently.

We had hoped that Sharepoint would offer the cloud-to-local sync functionality and performance of Dropbox, but with integration with Office and Excel. In reality, its bugs and inconsistent syncing make it a highly frustrating and a miserable experience for our staff. Dropbox offers some Office and Excel integration and in our testing its simpler and works more consistently. We will be switching to Dropbox Enterprise within the next few months. This is sad, because Sharepoint comes "free" with our Office and Excel licenses, so it just ends up being something we paid for in the bundle price that will sit on the shelf.

Pros

SharePoint integrates with Office and Excel, which are tools we use regularly. It serves as a cloud-based central file store, and you can open files from it via the web browser or use its sync utility to sync the files locally similar to Dropbox. When it works as intended, it's a passable experience.

Cons

There are daily failures by Sharepoint that add up to a miserable user experience. The biggest issue is the sync utility. On a daily basis there are problems with local changes syncing back to the cloud, or cloud changes syncing locally. We work on Macs, which I suppose is understandable that our platform wouldn't be as well-supported, but we do pay the same money that Windows users do. The integration with Finder is passabe, but the icons for "synced" or "up-to-date" are not always accurate. Also, the utility that shows you what is syncing is not always accurate. I can save a file locally and watch that utility and I see no sign that my change is syncing to the cloud. On a weekly basis, we have a user open a file from the web browser only to discover that some other user had saved a version of the file that never synced. Also, the web browser file views frequently load folders with empty file lists, you have to refresh to see the files, which is just problems with basic usability.

SharePoint is the type of application that businesses need and it has a lot of useful features. I'd like to see it continue to evolve the user experience with regard to navigation.

Pros

I like that documents can be placed in a central location for a team to access and work from. I also like the versioning capabilities, as well as the ability to either edit inline or open in the originating application.

Cons

I don't love the interface and don't find it particularly easy to navigate in and out of various spaces/folders, etc. It can be hard to know where you are in the bigger picture of the space. I also don't like that it can be challenging to keep documents in sync and changes can get lost if you are editing on the desktop.

It saves time and increases communication within the organisation. It also unites the employees by providing a single platform for the management of documents. My organisation has been using SharePoint for 5 years and it has been always a great experience to use SharePoint.

Pros

This software manages documents well and provide efficient way to share the information within an organisation. With the use of sharepoint we can save our important documents at one place and all the employees of an organisation can access the document instantly, which saves time and cost. In SharePoint admin can give particular access to the users as per his requirement eg:- if employee A is working with finance in that scenario share point admin can give access of finance related documents to employee A rather than giving him access to all the documents managed by sharepoint . This option helps organisation to keep their data safe from any vulnerable condition.

Cons

It is recommended for large organisations as intial cost of setting up SharePoint intranet is high and it's not fruitful to use it for small organisation . SharePoint need to be customised before its implementation in a particular organisation and this customisation needs time .

It allows a lot of different forms of communication and a ton of optional features - news, links, document drive, emails, groups, planners, etc. It offers a ton of options and interfaces well with the rest of Microsoft office.

Cons

The plethora of options can also be its downfall because it is not always clear what the differences in the various functions are. Additionally, the syncing is not always consistent, which creates confusion. It is not always intuitive to use because of this.

I will be using this product until the day I die. It helps me manage my life.

Pros

I have been using this product since it was a beta product. I have seen continued improvement and features every year since. It has completely enabled me to manage my professional life in one platform (Office365)

Cons

In the early stages, development of custom parts and apps were difficult but Microsoft has made entry in to custom development much more friendly over the last few years. I love how non-technical people can create business applications without the need for a dedicated programmer.

Sharepoint makes it easy to remotely manage contents and collaborate with my team members remotely.

Pros

Ability to reach important office documents and content from anywhere and through multiple devices is the best part of Sharepoint from a personal perspective.I like that I can easily share file and contents with my team members and customers alike via Sharepoint. The availability of a backup structure Incase of data loss,is a critical requirement for a content management platform and Sharepoint addresses this well too.

Cons

Sharepoint isn’t the most intuitive of programs to use,and navigation is quite messy. The search function can also be better.Overall this is a good program but there are lot of room for improvement.
