A window in to my child's life

PROS

Being a parent this is a great solution to see how your child is doing at nursery.The pros for me are the ease of communication with not only the different nursery departments but the option to send a message to a particular member of staff.

CONS

I can't really think if any cons with the software, my wife and I have been using the software over 3 years and it's been spot on all the time.

Definitely would recommend

Brilliant! Transferring over from our previous software to Famly was initially nerve racking as we didn't want to lose any data, unsure if the new software would suit our needs and the biggest hurdle, we would all have to learn a new system all over again! But the training given was brilliant, clear and effective. Famly staff were always on hand to answer any questions and guide us when needed. Our staff are now confident and use the software daily with no problems at all.

PROS

Training sessions available to cover all aspects. Famly staff are really friendly, very polite, approachable and always on the other side of the phone, e mail or help desk if needed. The software is easy to use, there are great features that our previous software didn't have.

CONS

Training sessions only lasted max 30min, would have been great to have a longer time slot.

We were not given any other offer by First Steps - Famly was taking them and their customers over as part of their deal.

Almost every week too many unnecessary changes are made to the layout of the software.Ignorance of customers.Years of waiting for software important updates without a positive response

Was 2018 and was a lack of other alternative software on the market these days.But now is 2023 and we have a choice to choose a professional software provider.

Connect - was not a software prepared for nurseries. Too many mistakes in the calculations of invoices.

You wouldnt even believe it!!

PROS

I cant brag about this company enough! From our initial meeting to now, [sensitive content hidden] has been nothing less than amazing! He went above and beyond to extend support, because of my crazy schedule, and I really appreciate it! If you are a childcare owner this is the app everyone needs! YOU WONT BE SORRY!

CONS

I am looking forward to more options on the academic side considering we are an montessori school.

Medium Sized Nursery User

Famly has massively reduced our admin time with invoicing, payroll, child observations, reduced the amount of paper we use. It has also helped us improve our nursery-parent communication & has also improved our professional image.

PROS

Everything in one place, from in the rooms through to management requirements, such as invoicing, staff hours, staff holiday. Easy to use platform & an easy to use app for parents/carers.

CONS

Integration with Quickbooks would be good for us. Notifications of pending observations requiring approval would also be helpful.

Reason for choosing Famly

None of the other software packages offered what Famly offered, in an all-in-one solution. Their training was very good & their support staff are amazing. As a company, a lot of their values align with ours, which was important to us.

Our Famly is your family!

Looking at room percentages and overall occupancy and income Our overall experience is great, even those with little knowledge of computers can use it.

PROS

The ease of use and communication tool for all staff and parents.Used daily from everything to electronic registers across all rooms, showing parents when children are asleep or having a nappy change to producing clear invoices and newsletters.

CONS

Nothing much as we have grown with the company, adding new features to enable our business to run smoothly.

Amazing product

Famly have always been fantastic, the software is great, customer service are always able to help and really quickly

PROS

Famly is so easy to use There are far too many good things about famly to write about them all but it just makes life so much easier.We could not have survived the pandemic with famly.

CONS

There are a few things that would improve the software. A documents app which is shared with the parents would be amazing

Fantastic forward thinking product

This has been invaluable in the early set up and ongoing daily role within our nursery. Not only do families love it, its easy for staff to use and the 'back end', is a wonderful management tool. Time saving, efficient and incredibly supportive with new ideas and training always at hand. Along with a wealth of researchers and theorists sharing their knowledge through the platform....worth every penny!

Very impressed

Very helpful :) Famly support over email are also very responsive and have solved many of our errors!

PROS

Easy to use - staff are all very happy with famly, much better than paper observations! Parent friendly - parents all love the system and being able to see their little ones and what they are up to.

CONS

Being able to edit one child in a group ob would be helpful.

Famly Review

THe training and after sales support has been brilliant with emailing responses etc and the help access. There are many things that we used to do on First steps that are not on Famly but we have been able to get around them.

PROS

The pros are everything is under one App, parents can access it and they are able to interact on a daily basis which means we know if they are looking at the app.

CONS

The lack of reports that we can print and sometimes the lack of change that we can do on the app.

FIrst steps was our first nursery package and this was taken over so we didnt really have a choice.

I can honestly say my life has been transformed after moving to Famly as I have so much more time.

easy to use and rate the company.So far I have not found using Famly frustrating in anyway nor do I dislike any part of it. The Famly team are developing and updating the system regularly, not that this is a hindrance as the system does not shut down for updates, but they are adding further improvements. You can see that they are responding to how Famly is used with these updates to make it better. The Famly support team are in touch to ensure everything is going well, they also get in touch directly with the staff team asking questions which it seems is also informs how Famly is improved further.

PROS

Famly is so easy to set up and use, very intuitive and so quick to work on. With the added bonus of the app I can now get access to all the information I need whenever and wherever I am. The settings allow for the staff to have the relevant access for their job role, this is great as there are so many functions other than invoicing which Famly can be used for, it really is a one stop shop for everything you need. The staff team love it and even those who would usually shy away from technology are happily getting involved. The parents are communicating much more often as it is so easy to send messages/photos back and forth. The parents are also finding the invoicing/payments overview very useful so they can manage their account easily, this contains all the information they need and again is simple to read so no explanation from me is necessary, this again saves so much time as previously I had to send regular breakdowns to parents. The support team at Famly are quick to respond and help resolve any issues. They are always on hand to ask questions and provide great training and support with the set up. But other than the odd glitch there have not been many questions or need for the training support as Famly really is very easy to use and work on. I am in no way an IT expert but Famly is so intuitive that you can easily and quickly do what you need whenever and wherever you need to, with so much time saved I am now able to focus on the jobs I never would of got to previously.

I cannot imagine doing my job without Famly anymore!

It truly has become an integral part of how we work now! I love it that much that when I changed jobs I persuaded my new boss to get Famly - I simply do a better job when I have such a good tool to aid my management!

PROS

I love that Famly is so easy to use. It is intuitive, it has a ton of useful features and has enabled us to replace many many of our paper based clunky and long winded practices. We love that parents have a space where they can go to see all the updates and return to again and again if needed. It is so important that we can communicate among the team as well as with parents in the same space.

CONS

Integration with current business was very easy. In general we are very happy with the software, and even our sister nursery has started to use it now too. However, there are a number of things that we still would love to see improved: *calendar to look like a page (30 days to view) *calendar to show all new starters (day of registration)*ability to input holiday entitlement for the year so that system then can show how many holiday days are left for the staff and management to see (currently still have to have a spreadsheet for this) *ability to upload documents for parents *ability to alter welcome message so we can include links to our policies / all about me books *ability to edit About fields on child's profile so that we can add questions that are relevant for us *ability for parents to upload documents (Birth certificate, proof of address) *ability for parents to fill out their contact details only once if they have multiple children, as well as ability to link children to a number of contacts rather than filling out the same information many times

Reason for choosing Famly

I used it before, and the first time I chose it at my previous job it was how many things we could do with one software and how quick and easy to use it was. Staff intuitively knew what to do.

Famly is Family

My overall experience with the Famly app has been fantastic. This app does everything I need it do for my daycare. I have meetings with a team member frequently. He is friendly and is always ready to help me with anything I am struggling with on my side. He listens when I have suggestions. He goes over any new updates and encourages me to use them in my daily routine.

PROS

How easy it is to interact with the platform. The customer service and the help center are great! I have found that Famly really cares how their customers use their app to its fullest potential. I was given a team member from the beginning and he helps me so very much. He encourages me to use the app to its fullest potential. We have not had just one meeting but seveal and continue to have them to my benefit.

CONS

I would like to be able to have more access to some of the high tiered options.

From the initial Demonstration I really knew that this was the app for my daycare. The ease with which I found the app to be able to manage and navigate, I knew that my families appreciate this platform.

Incredible preschool management software

We used to use ProCare but found it to be incredibly clunky. We the switched to Sandbox software for a year but found they were not innovating very fast. We finally found FAMLY and haven't looked back since.

PROS

The daily attendance, the class planning (so easy for admissions season), the newsfeed (Facebook style area where we post photos, updates, videos, etc.), the calendar/RSVP...so much to love!

CONS

The way the billing is handled in FAMLY is confusing to our parents. Our families register for a certain schedule (e.g. M/W/F) for the entire semester or year and then pay either monthly or by semester. The invoices are not straight-forward. And if we add a random adhoc charge (e.g. for a shirt, for a drop in day, for after care, etc.) we have to generate an entirely new invoice instead of just adding the charge and letting the families see updated balance. Our parents also get confused in the messaging area...it's still not clear that they are messaging the TEACHERS only vs the entire class...so some parents don't send the message because they're worried it will go to all the parents instead of just the teachers. A simple fix, but it hasn't been done. Wish USA had option to have parents pay invoices by credit card, along with option to "pass on" the 3% credit card fees to the parents. With there was Attendance-Based Billing (e.g. if a child stays past 1pm charge them a flat fee, if a child is picked up late at the end of the day charge them a per minute late fee, etc.)

Great tool to encourage parent partnership and motivating staff too.

I can't fault the support from FAMLY when we have any problems. The app is so easy to use and such a great tool to share information with parents. Beautiful learning journeys for our children including videos that they will look back on.

PROS

We use the daily news feed to share their children's day with parents. This is a great tool to use and a conversation starter during collection with our older children and parents. Parents find it easy to share their children's interest and achievements with the parent observations and help with our in the moment planning.

CONS

Difficult to answer this as the things I don't like is the forecast. However I have not explored this and how it works so not sure I am set up correctly. It is on my to do list to ask for support on this.

Reason for choosing Famly

It reminded me of Facebook and that parents would engage more with something they know. The handover being available before pick up helped us a lot for a less congested collection time in the evenings.

Reasons for switching to Famly

The previous product was not user friendly and not sufficient to promote parent partnership.

Famly review from Little Barn Owls

We have had a faultless experience with Famly so far. We have had the opportunity to work in close communications with Famly to adapt, give feedback, be apart of interviews and comment on our emergent curriculum for articles.

PROS

We use Famly on a daily basis across three nursery sites, where all employees comment on how easy the system is to use. We want to ensure we are providing a 5* service to all parents within our settings. Famly aids this in the options it gives us to communicate with our parents and for them to be able to communicate with us, whether that be through sending photographs through the observation tab, or communicating through the messages tab. Families are able to gain an insight into their child's day through the different options it provides.

CONS

The only thing we would change about the software is having 2 year check reports show up on the progress report tab.

Couldn't do without it!

The time it used to take to generate plans & send invoices has decreased quite considerably as it is so easy to do. The Famly app has everything you need in one place and is easy to do and explain. Parents love it, mostly as they can see updates/pictures daily from their child's key worker. If there has been any issues or difficulties, these have been dealt with in a timely manner from the support team.

PROS

Everything! I literally couldn't do without it now that it has been implemented within our company. Since using the app I have noticed much more parent interaction - I can see which parents use the app and access the information that I share. It is easy enough for staff to use within a busy Nursery environment. We are just starting to use the Child Development section, however I know that this will eventually save lots of time when analysing cohort data and evaluating support for the children. I manage 2 Nurseries so this provides me with the same information for both, which means I can analyse both/either no matter where I am.

CONS

At the moment there isn't anything I don't like!

Easy to navigate and manage software

The help and support is thorough and professional. The team is patient and will explain in a way to suit individual requirements. There are various help methods including messaging, links and online guide and the response time is quick. Clear examples are provided with screen shots where helpful. The team has a forward thinking approach to ensure the software improvements are in line with industry changes. I have been really impressed and this has removed stressful elements from my role.

PROS

Navigation of screens; links with clear instructions for queries; clear use of colours/icons/visuals to aid navigation; comprehensive reports which export to csv; ability to create own lists from data (e.g. birthdays); straightforward invoicing including ad-hoc sessions, credit notes and debt monitoring.

CONS

Nothing. Once we learnt the differences compared to previous system, we could adapt admin processes to work with Famly. There are several aspects we do not currently use but this is only because we are linked to a local authority's processes. For independent nurseries, many features will be beneficial to efficiency.

Great software, makes everything so easy and customer service is outstanding!

It's made the whole of my admin role much easier. As a manager of a small but busy Pre school setting I wear many hats! This software has made invoicing, registering, keeping parents contact details in to date and keeping in touch with parents and staff much much simpler. One of my best decisions this year!

PROS

Its intuitive. You can easy see how to do things. It's great at increasing parent partnership and definitely makes admin much easier. Parents can update their own records enabling you to jeep up to date quickly and easily with changes of contact details. Parents can see exactly how much they owe, when they paid, and with what. Staff are able to register children quickly and easily with a touch of a button (parents can also do this too or even the children as they enter the setting) You can keep on top of who's being collected by who and when. The newsfeed works exactly like Facebook and our parents have all engaged with this system as they understand immediately how it works. You can send individual messages to certain parents as well as to groups. You can tell who has seen the messages as well as who's registered with the system so it's easy to target those parents who haven't. The customer service is amazing, the service from start to set up I'd easy to follow and someone is always on hand to give you support and advice. Long term user

I love using Famly. It has made the managing of the preschool so much easier and having all information under one app is great.

PROS

Ease of use. It is a very user friendly site and very easy to use. I use it daily to log in children, keep track of bookings and add adhoc sessions or extras as needed. Communication with parents is now easy and traceable. They are always improving the software and features

CONS

We do not use it fully - do not use journey tracking and profile. Our manager prefers hand written so i cannot comment on this.Not able to duplicate information - if siblings attend it would be handy to duplicate all info from another child.

It’s taken a while to get used to and still having some issues.

Mostly better than what we were using before, but not nearly as good as I had hoped for. I have been disappointed with the lack of ability to solve problems.

PROS

It is slightly more user friendly than the previous software we used. It is generally easier to contact parents, although group messages can be a bit of a hassle!

CONS

It is really difficult to get any help with issues. We have had issues with uploading photos and spent hours going round and round in circles with customer support, and have eventually given up! Also the way that you can only save an observation or assessment as a draft once is a big problem for us. And the fact that drafts can’t be seen by others is a problem if we have long term sickness, we can’t see what is in their drafts.

Saves time, improves parent communication, streamlines processes

Overall this is a great tool for saving time for nursery managers and teams and is loved by all our parents and staff

PROS

This is realy easy to use - it shows you all of the children who are in on any given day, allows you to plan attendance, complete learning journeys, instantly updates parents on care - such as sleep, meals etc. Ability to use for accident reporting, invoicing, revenue forcasting - does pretty much everything you need in a nursery at the same time as providing a user friendly "social media" type format for communication with parents.

CONS

Its still fairly new and not everything works perfectly for every setting yet - but all of the important things do and famly are really quick to respond to feedback and are constantly developing the product.

Great for Nursery Parents

This is one of my favourite apps - I love that it is secure and easy/intuitive to use .

PROS

This has replaced slips of paper and cumbersome folders of work and photos. I love that I get regular updates on what my child is doing at nursery and I can look at these on-the-go or wait til later to spend a bit more time. It has also provided a valuable connection staff-2-parents and parents-2-parents during a time where normal face-to-face contact has changed because of COVID.

CONS

Sometimes I don't get notifications but I think this is my phone rather than the software.
