Churchteams church management system (ChMS) supports membership management, check-in, mass communications, contributions and assimilation for churches of any size. Web-based and optimized for mobile, the solution can be accessed on any device.

Churchteams' architecture is based on group membership. When a new member is added to the system, that person is assigned to one or more groups defined by the administrator—for example, small group leader, ministry team, Sunday school, event volunteer and home group. That person then receives emails and texts sent to that group.

Churchteams also enables church leaders to collect custom member attributes—birth dates, interests and class attendance, for example—as well as take pastoral and coaching notes and prayer requests. This data is then used to track assimilation, create reports and maintain complete profiles.

Check-in tools also offer a secure way to streamline attendance at classes, events and worship services with support for an unlimited number of check-in stations, barcode scanning and name tag printing.

Church Teams is the best software I've used that combines database management with event management. You can see with one click if your member or prospect is active in any organization within the church and if they contribute financially to ministry. Within the groups you establish with CT you can see in real time who has registered for an event and how much they paid. This system makes it very easy to manage mission trips or camps, especially for youth. The communication with parents of students within a group is very easy. We could not do this in the previous software we used unless the parent was the person you selected. Thank you Mark, Boyd & Company for making our jobs more efficient!

Pros

Event income, contributions and activity is all contained within the software and is easily viewed and managed via individual records or as a category of income in reports. The developers of the software are very responsive to individual church needs and will add or change properties of the software to suit your needs if it also benefits the overall usefulness of the program for others.

Cons

Nothing!

Advice to Others

If you've used Shelby in the past and were frustrated at the lack of flexibility you will enjoy using this software! A plus is that is much less expensive!

Pros

Absolutely love the online registration feature, has made collecting fees and signing up for events a breeze. Customer service support is the best I've ever had in the software industry. As I mentioned it's highly customizable and easy to make changes on the fly.

Cons

It does require significant planning and setup on the front and in order to get good utilization and data on the back end.

Advice to Others

Don't skimp on the training. Make sure you have a good training program for staff. Involve your end users as you are designing the system. Get their buy in upfront..

We recently converted from a major platform to Churchteams and could not be happier. We get more value and functionality that is accessible across the entire ministry team - paid and volunteer. The communication aspect is also great! I can't recommend enough that you test drive Churchteams! You will not be disappointed.

Pros

Functionality. Usability. Not just for the church secretary. So easy even the non-technical can use it.

Cons

Financial reporting for contributions could use a few improvements but support has been very helpful and open to our questions and suggestions.

Advice to Others

Don't wait. Try this. It was designed by an Education/Discipleship/Small groups minister for ministers to utilize to track more than data on people. It is designed to manage people's journey with Jesus and helping them continually take closer steps to Him.

We cannot say enough about how we have been blessed by this software and the people in Customer Support. This software has put so much control into the hands of the people who need it. We have been able to equip groups with an abundance of information on a 24/7 basis. They are no longer dependent on 'office hours' to receive important information. They are able to access this information from anywhere and any time. Our ability to know what people are involved in, what their current contact information is and where they are involved has allowed us to care for our church family in a way that is organized and immediate.

I love that you can auto send out the attendance sheets for each week and that the people are included on the sheet, so it's a simply click and submit process.

Likes Least

Inability to communicate with our current church database. We use two systems because ChurchTeams does not have all of the features we need out of a church-wide database, resulting in a duplication of tasks/steps.

Recommendations

Would love to have the ability to book resources (rooms on campus), manage finances, tack and track online giving and text giving, check out library of studies the church has (and what is currently "in" and available to check out) . . . all in the same program.

Churchteams is uniquely designed to support and grow a church that is built around small groups. It has some very intuitive features that help you support and track group life and group health. I have also found their tech support to very responsive and open to new improvements to their system.

I would like to see their online formatting and integration with church websites to improve in functionality and aesthetics.

Recommendations

If you are truly desiring to connect people in groups, track group health and design a process that tracks people through a spiritual growth road-map, this is truly a great software. Because of the wide array of customize-able options, it is good to compare these specific features, before landing on a final software for your church.

One thing that I really like about churchteams is that it is easily accessible. So often, I find myself needing a person's contact info while I'm on the go. Using both my laptop and smartphone, churchteams is always available for me, allowing me to better communicate and meet the needs of my parishioners, volunteers, and friends.

The only thing I don't love about churchteams is that it takes sometime to master the full capabilities of the site. Once you understand how churchteams works it's a huge aid, but it can be a bit intimidating for the first time user.

Recommendations

I would encourage other pastors and leaders who work with many individuals to simplify their lives by streamlining their contact info and data. Churchteams saves me from many headaches, tedious legwork, and even lets me benefit from the relational connections made by other employees because we all share one platform for communication and contacts. Don't pass up this chance to jettison your communication databases to new heights.

Churchteams provides such an amazing way to keep up with the various ministries here at Valley Real Life. I have the opportunity to call on the first time visitors plus 5 other areas of connect ministries...Churchteams makes this a simple & organized process. It's like having a 24/7 administrator on call anytime I need it. The reports area in Chruchteams is very helpful to get an overall view of how attendance is going in the small groups or to be up on many of demographics we might need to monitor growth or a variety of different things.

Likes Least

Sometimes after writing in the notes window it won't return to the roster list and I'll have to go through the group list to find the group I was in last. Hopefully that makes since.

Recommendations

It is a great system for keeping on top of things and I would highly recommend it for any Church needing a tool to keep track of numerous things.

I love the automated emails that go to group leaders. It makes it easy for them to respond and keep us in the loop regarding who is staying connected and who we may need to reach out too! There is no sign in process with passwords! Churchteams makes it easy by eliminating all the road blocks that would keep people from entering information about their groups.

As a youth pastor, I would like a couple more key pieces of info that would automatically drop people into certain "smart groups" so I don't have to create a bunch of groups. I would also like to see more text message options. Needing to have a persons provider is a constant roadblock we face.

Recommendations

Try it and talk to the leaders if you find practical improvements. They are always working harder to make ChurchTeams a leader in group management.

I haven't worked much with their staff, but Churchteams is very simple to navigate and very user friendly. When I started on staff at the church nobody walked me through using it. I taught myself, so that says something about the product.

I would have to say that I'm not in love with their web platform. I think it could use a revamp and some updating. But this is coming from someone who values creativity and aesthetics.

Recommendations

We only use Churchteams for our Small Groups, but I know there are several other capabilities and it can essentially be used for a churches complete database, including tithe tracking, so I would recommend finding out all of the capabilities of the software.

Churchteams has really helped me to manage our parish's Small Groups program in many ways! I can't imagine running these groups without it!!

Pros

Churchteams is excellent for keeping track of groups, communicating with them, tracking how successful groups are and how often they meet. It is also wonderful for people to use to find and sign up for a group.

Cons

Figuring out how to use different features has been difficult for me at times, but that is probably my fault and not the fault of the program.

There is a significant improvement to the way we're able to manage and respond to our membership and volunteers. We look forward to making use of all the features available in Churchteams as our church continues to grow and expand.

Pros

Churchteams allows our staff and volunteers to organize ministries and stay on top of member management in an intuitive and professional way. The customer service responsiveness is phenomenal. The cost is reasonable, allowing our small church access to software features which would be broad enough to manage a mega-church.

Cons

When customizing a member directory, we were not able to include a specific attribute we would have liked to include. Truly though, this was something specific to our church and it's a stretch to label it a "con."

I am very impressed with their customer and tech support. I also respect the integrity of the ministry. The ministry leaders at our church have found it easy to use. All of my interaction with the software and the employees has been positive.

I have learned the software with little difficulty and I am not very computer savvy. I also love the functionality of the software. There is so much information that can be captured.

Cons

Understanding all the filters for running reports was a little challenging for me.

The membership and contribution tracking is extremely helpful in our situation.
The difficulties are primarily due to lack of buy in to the groups and attendance features. These have fallen by the wayside with the change in leadership.

Pros

Reports could be easier to use. Some need additional parameter options.

Overall I am very pleased with Churchteams and the customer support is the very best I have had. They are also open to suggestions and this is very unique quality in a company. They certainly do value their customers opinions.

Pros

That it can be adapted to your own needs very easily, creating fields (attributes) to set-up search specific criteria's for one's own use. Easy database search options to track individuals down on the database, can search for someone through their email address or street address, for an example; instead of their name.

Cons

Just that the date format is USA not UK but that does not take too long to get used to.

Exceptional organization. No issues. Highly recommend them!

Churchteams is in my opinion the best ChMS out there. They are making continual improvements. It may not have all the polished interfaces that others have, but the functionality is great! It is designed by people with deep ministry experience for ministers.

They are working still on reporting. There are some reports I still can't get easily, but they are working on them.

Pros

Our church loves this product and uses it all of the time. It is very nice to have all the contacts, communication and donations in one spot. It gives us the ability to check in and keep track of our members.

Our Church Leaders are able to "Text To Me" and find their groups, take role, see where they are serving that day, and communicate with their groups. You can do it from your computer or phone. As our Church Family uses it more they really like it. Especially young families who use the check-in as they pull in te parking lot and then pick up their tags as they walk by the check-in counters.

Pros

I like that with "Text To Church" you can text to give, sign up for events, check-in your family. Text To Church is one of the big reasons we switched to Churchteams.

Cons

I do wish they had an Event Calendar with Planning/Set Up. When we have an event we add it to the calendar and include the Date, Time, Room, Set Up, etc. Then the custodians can log in each week/day and see what is happening, and set up rooms accordingly. This would make a huge difference for us.

I like the ability to access our information on any device. The cloud is a great feature. I like the ability to get many different reports. The customer service is outstanding. They go above and beyond with helping us.

Cons

The interface. Definitely needs to be updated. The Home page should have relevant stats and easy to get info that we always access. Home page should not be a place for CT to advertise to me. It should be a dashboard that I can fashion into what best suits my needs.

I would like this software to be a bit more intuitive. We have to spend time looking for how to do things. It should be easier to find certain functions.

There should be "Back" buttons. Not just the suggestion to click back in the browser.

Churchteams is easy to pick up and learn with wizards to walk through common database steps such as adding people, creating groups, editing attributes, and merging profiles. I also love the Customer service and getting to interact with the founder, directly. I've made suggestions to improve the software that have been considered and implemented. It's refreshing to work with a company that listens to its customers and acts upon feedback. It's been a pleasure working with Churchteams!

Cons

I would like to see additional features in the future that provide more flexibility when running workflows and reports. Sometimes when I query a report, I need the flexibility to write criteria as "and" or "or", but this is not currently an option as far as I have seen.

I found the tech support to be great to work with--responsive within a short time when a question or issue is asked.

Pros

The ability to e-mail households from their database account.

Cons

We have had problems with child check-in and the printing of labels for this feature.

The overall experience is very positive. Churchteams helps us track who is making disciples and who wants to be discipled.

Pros

The customer service is very quick and beneficial. The people we interact with over the phone to troubleshoot things are very patient with us.

The software helps us manage tithes and offerings very well. It also allows us to track easily where people are serving and what small group community they are a part of.

Cons

Sometimes functionality buttons are a little complicated. For example, when trying to type in what time a certain group is meeting, you have to take an extra step to allow a certain time to be an option, rather than simply typing it in.

The best thing for us has been able to send out text messages to remind members about their volunteer or service duties! Members are always telling me "Thank you for the remind!" And all I have to do is schedule them at the beginning of the month! So easy!

Pros

It's so user friendly! You really don't need any training!

Cons

I really can't think of anything. It's everything you need and more!
