About Amazon CloudWatch

Amazon CloudWatch is an automated testing software designed to help DevOps engineers, IT managers, developers and site reliability engineers (SREs) monitor application performances. The platform enables administrators to set up alarms, detect anomalous behavior and troubleshoot issues across environments.

Managers can respond to performance changes and track the operational health of infrastructures on a unified interface. Amazon CloudWatch allows teams to collect and analyze metrics from distributed AWS applications including Amazon S3 and Amazon DynamoDB. Additionally, supervisors can also gain insights into log analytics and address operational issues in real-time.

Amazon CloudWatch lets businesses integrate the system with AWS Identity and Access Management to configure role-based access permissions for staff members. Pricing is based on monthly subscriptions and support is extended via FAQs, knowledge base, forums,

Pros:

Great and reliable tool that integrate with other AWS services. Been using it daily to monitor user’s behaviour and also to look after possible bugs. The ease of use is great with loads of filters features that allow me do my job quickly and efficiently.

Cons:

Sometimes the logs can take a while to load. Also I don’t think we would need to hit “load more to see older or newer events.

As the CTO of a fast-scaling SaaS company (BytePhase Technologies Pvt. Ltd.), Amazon CloudWatch has been an essential part of our DevOps and infrastructure monitoring toolkit. Flexible Dashboards: Customizable visualizations for technical and business metrics. Log Insights: CloudWatch Logs + Insights help us dig deep into errors and performance bottlenecks. Alarms & Automation: We’ve configured CloudWatch Alarms to trigger Lambda scripts for auto-healing and notifications through SNS/Slack.

Cons:

The UI/UX can feels complicated, It can be improved for simplification, Need to visit the all services to check logs, was looking for single page where I can found all logs

we can handle monitoring in large scale applications even it is work closely with AWS lambda and Auto scaling

Mostly as a Application performance monitoring used RUM ( real user monitoring ) that is having deep insights and log support is bonus . we can create dashboards to looks logs and metrics in real time.

Cons:

Cloud watch alarms will provide notification , price we need to monitor regularly , some time i felt hybrid environment is a challenge here
