MINDBODY Software


 

MINDBODY is a cloud-based club management and appointment scheduling solution designed for the needs of small to midsize businesses. The product is primarily used by gyms, fitness and personal training centers, salons, spas and massage centers, wellness centers, dance schools and yoga studios.

MINDBODY offers features such as scheduling with wait list management, appointment booking through Facebook, automated scheduling of email and texts and online bookings. Memberships can be managed through MINDBODY as well.

MINDBODY also features a toolset for marketing management. With MINDBODY, notifications and alerts can be set up for customers, targeted marketing campaigns can be launched and marketing reports can be generated and assessed.

MINDBODY also offers staff management features, which include check-in and check-out management, role-based permissions, payroll management and calendar integration.

MINDBODY offers custom API access that enables third-party developers to integrate their platforms with the solution. The product offers a marketplace for applications that can be integrated with MINDBODY, such as Spafinder Wellness 365, Xero, Perkville, RelateLOOP, Zcubator and WaiverKing.

Mindbody has created an amazing app helping business professionals around the globe to stay on top of their fitness while traveling. If there is one thing that keeps my body running on level 10, it's boxing workouts. Mindbody makes it a breeze to fly into town, find where the best boxing gyms are, and get my behind in there. Thank you Mindbody for this secret gem!

Cons

I do believe Mindbody is in the earlier stages of really blossoming in this space. There could be a few more partner gyms in certain parts of the country, but I'm sure they will get there soon!

Flexibility to switch between multiple business locations to book appointments. Online booking for guests. Payroll and time card capabilities.

Cons

Getting thru to tech support is a nightmare and most of the time, once you describe the issue, the tech puts you on hold while they reach out to their "GURU'S" (as they call them) to help you solve the problem, which takes up a lot of time. They need more staff and better training so as not to waste their customers time!!
We went to this company because they promoted their "over 1000 employees" and 24/7 tech support.

Great sales pitch, they fail to tell you you will sit on hold for ever and wait weeks, month for issues to be resolved Ex. not getting reminder email bounce back notifications

Pros

Lots of bells and whistles (too many for them to manage), great sales team, helpful training staff..

Cons

Basic scheduling function not working properly and waited over a month without resolution. Issues with dates ie. day month year vs. month day year. not being consistent. Sitting on hold for minimum 30-40 mins each time I called.

What I love about this particular software is that it is fairly easy to use, it helps keeps clients, accounts, payments, check-ins, and late cancels easy for the use of a local gym.

Cons

The thing I don't like about this software is that you can't just pick it up and start using it. It is a learning process to know how the system as a whole functions. Once you get an overview of the software it isn't hard to operate.

Promises that the software has capabilities that it doeant have and then charging you regardless that they didn’t provide services

Pros

They make it seam like a good value and they will look after you. The reality is they will promise anything to sign you up and then not follow threw with what they offered.

Cons

They take your money and don’t deliver any customer service.They charged me for 9 months at a full rate when they promised a prorate of half price. They refused a refund or anything to help the situation. They also failed to input any of my information so I could never use to software however they billed me for it.

When we had multiple issues trying to set up the Mind Body system to cater for insurance patients, our agent categorically stated we would receive a refund if they could not suitably modify the system to our needs. They were unable to resolve it but when I then asked for the refund they denied ever saying this. Our whole experience with Mind Body was therefore a costly mistake.

Pros

The fact that it allows you to automate taking payments, has a booking app and is front end user friendly

Cons

If you are anything other than a gym/sports class/ salon this is not the system for you- do not be misled! We were told it was suitable for our large, multilocation physiotherapy service and it could handle patients paying for their treatment with insurance.. it can not. Perhaps if in America, but it is not adequately set up for UK based insurance.

Mindbody has grown fast and hard. The growth has caused them to forget the most important piece. Customer loyalty and customer service. Great product. They just don’t seem to respect the time of clients. The Poynt is a disaster.

Great system. I like the software. The Poynt is currently not useful. I like the reports. The software isn’t the problem. It’s how I feel as a customer.

Customer service. ZERO awareness on customer loyalty and if mistakes happen a customer should receive something for their time!!!

The payment processing took forever to transfer to our account leaving gym members angry. The reports were also not helpful and super hard to track people's payments. When asked to not be billed the 250 for our final month they didn't. So basically we used this software for months and saw no benefits. We are young and tech savvy so this is a joke

The training sessions were good and the customer support was helpful. Not worth the cost though. Would not recommend.

Cons

We wasted thousands of dollars and didn't find it helpful at all. They screwed us. It was supposed to help make our eft and cc transactions easier but left us feeling we had no control and money was deposited all over the place. It's an accounting nightmare

This has a lot of bells and whistles. Fancy for sure; would be great for a club. However, if you are truly a small business think long and hard before committing to mindbody. The price for taking recurring gym memberships QUADRUPLED in the four years I used them. When I decided it was not sustainable, it cost me hundreds of dollars to get the stored credit card info out of their server. When I got it it was only half of the information. When I called to ask about the missing people, and about the data itself I was told that when I agree to have that set of reports run I also agree to cut all ties with mindbody including access to their support. So think long and hard because while it is pretty and fancy and does lots of cool stuff, it’s pretty ugly on the other side.

Pros

Lots of features and reports. It was relatively easy to set up, and while the app is unimpressive the desktop was great.

Cons

Constant substantial price hikes.
Lack of customer service.
Could not get the same answers to questions, sometimes even from the same person.

Extremely disappointed about having to change software after being with MINDBODY for nearly 10 years but just couldn’t afford the whopping 71% price increase in my monthly subscription fee. Even more disappointed with the hard line attitude of ‘if you don’t like it then you’re free to leave’. Don’t know what’s happened to the company ethos but it’s a shame there is no longer any interest in taking care of the ‘little people’ who were part of the rise to success journey for so long. Highly recommend this product IF you can afford it.

Pros

Fantastic product which just works. Really well designed and highly intuitive. Good technical support.

Cons

Now ridiculously expensive so no longer affordable for small businesses (even after nearly 10 years of loyalty).

Easy to use. That is literally all that is good about this company. I have no idea how they stay in business. They do not care about the businesses they service

Cons

Expensive, credit card processing is super expensive, customer service is the worst I have every dealt with, sales ream is condescending and as soon a the sale is done, you can never get help again.

For the most part, it has been very consistent and fairly easy to use when it comes to setting up fitness classes, getting sign-ups, and checking in. Provides adequate reporting. Great mobile app.

Cons

Not ideal for website functionality -- there are very few features we can utilize on our website (class schedule) but I ran into several issues when trying to make it easy for website visitors to purchase classes or memberships. In addition, there is no way to connect it to a Facebook pixel, which would be extremely helpful for my Facebook marketing strategies if I could track who actually buys something from my site.

Mindbody Salon has helped me simplify my life. It allows me to schedule appointments for haircuts, manicures, massages and more at local businesses with a simple click of a button. I am able to schedule my appointment easily after hours. I struggle calling during normal business hours. Mindbody has solved this for me.

Cons

What I least like about this software is the price. I first started with them when they were smaller and it was affordable. Now it’s astronomical on how much they charge you to have a mediocre software. It’s very complex. Everything additional is an upcharge and they don’t treat you with importance. Now you are just another number that sends them money. Customer service is awful until you are ready to cancel. Then they want to treat you like a million bucks!

Overall the problem with MINDBODY is that is extremely outdated... and it never was really much good to begin with. The added the App which adds some value, but at every consumer touchpoint, the interface is unintuitive and UGLY! Do your customers a favor and don't subject them to this software. They're really deep in this market and should really have the resources to update the MINDBODY system, but I guess why bother when businesses keep buying in because they think you're the only game in town?

Pros

It is pretty widespread so if you frequent establishments that use it, and you've learned how to operate then it wouldn't be so bad.

Cons

As a user, the experience of encountering the Mind Body system on some places website is a pain... and as someone who has implemented into a website, it's also a pain.

I am a consumer who has booked many appointments with various spas, fitness classes, and salons via Mindbody. I find its ease of use to be fantastic and love the ability to check prices online, see whether there are any specials, and book appointments all under this one ap. Super easy to navigate and you can check last minute deals near your current location as well

Cons

The only complaint I have is that I am attempted to cancel/reschedule appointments via the app and encountered some difficulties. I have been directed to contact the vendor directly and typically when using an app the whole reason is that I am not in place or capacity where I can easily talk on the phone. This may be a feature that different vendors choose to use or not, which I understand can be helpful to actual vendors

I am a customer of three different businesses that use Mindbody and it is so frustrating to have to log out of each instance each time I want to book an appointment/class at a different location.

Cons

There should be a way for me to stay logged in on each companies separate website. This would make for such a better customer experience.

this is good if you are looking to take payment and appointments but you want more from I recommend you try something else. pay a lot​ of​ money to learn this lesson so if I can save you the money and the stress. you don't​ need to thank me

everything is customized to your business, look professional, get your own app and website easy to set with guidance​.

Cons

it is expensive if you're new. you cannot create meal plans or training programs for clients. you don't​ get a ​free trial

For basic admin of appointments etc., MindBody works fine.

Cons

It's not the most intuitive program I've ever used. A lot of the features one would want in a scheduling program are hard to find or use in the app, and some even have to be accessed from the back end, which makes it difficult to address issues in the moment for front-end employees.
