Conga for Plans and Policies
Conga has saved my team so much time and effort by allowing us to configure and manipulate templates around a single source of data to produce multiple unique documents.
PROSConga enabled my team to easily create and automate all of the different plans and polices that we manage through the use of templates and highly configurable fields, all while maintaining our specific branding and format.
CONSConga can be daunting for new users. Thankfully, they have great resources for training and getting users started with creating their own documents.

Does it's job, sometimes clunky or in other words - you need knowledge of word serial letters
Ok.
PROSWhen it works, it usually works. The way there is sometimes hard.
CONSStill missing an easy drag&drop template designer.We still work on clunky word templates, that sometimes switch to total format chaos, when you just pull a certain field somewhere else - we all know that.Probably we are on outdated versions, but there's room for development, if not.If you drop in with special characters, data transfer to the Conga server gets stuck / frozen.

Great Tool in Theory But Lots of Functionality Issues
Our proposal team has been using this tool for almost two years. When the tool was called Tinderbox, we found it to be pretty good with minor functionality issues. Since it became Octiv, we've gotten into the habit of calling customer support 2 - 3 times per month. There seem to be more bugs than before. Asset pages get lost, user privileges get messed-up, and the whole tool seems slower and clunky.

CONSSince the tool became Octiv, there are more glitches.

The standard for documentation creation in Salesforce
I recommend Conga to all my clients and each project has been a success. The success is based on a combination of the product and your support team; I've had to engage the support guys on all projects
PROSConga has a deep feature list, so even if clients start off with a simple requirement such as quote or contract creation, they can add more sophisticated features or complimentary Conga products over time
CONSAs a consultant, I find the merge queries to be very time consuming to get right
