Pros

Decent functionality once you get it working. Price to function seems good. I have a hard time saying anything else good. If you can live with the cost of frustration, you will probably eventually say its worth it. I've used it for 10 years!

Cons

Sage provides almost "ZERO" support. Don't let them lie to you. I have used this product for over 10 years and my level of frustration remains very high. They will not support you after the software/conversion is done. You get pushed to a very few, custom Crystal Report writers who are incredibly overloaded. So all the promise of great dashboards, custom reports (which you have to have! For your own business!) is for naught. Just add 6 months to your process which is absolutely not an exaggeration. Let's just say it like it is. After the sale, Sage does not care about you.

I guess when the software is finally set up properly it does run properly and it does what you need it to be but that's when it's up. Not super expensive so that is a huge plus for a software that will function as you want just with some hiccups.

Cons

It goes down alot. Little updates to your server can throw this software for a loop. It's does not like shiny and new it wants to stay in the past and not with today's times.

This used to be the best CRE on the market - but that was 15-20 years ago. Sage has so many different product offerings, there doesn't appear to be much focus or investment in this industry. Time for a do-over.

Pros

Covers most of the operations you'd expect in running a complex construction process as a contactor - HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc. Integrated finance module. Strong user groups.

Cons

Old, clunky interface. UI fresh not convincing. Very poor mobile module functionality. Somewhat of a closed universe - doesn't play well with other software systems, even some from Sage.

Cons

Sometimes it's hard to search a specific help topic. Every now and then we'll come across strange quirks in the system that doesn't make sense, but support is able to help.

It was extremely easy to use and our accounting department even said it was fantastic. On the project management side, the staff liked the cost codes you could integrate and use. and the ease of sending financial information in. It was also used for monthly job cost review meetings with project management and operations. I believe it was relatively easy to generate thorough documents for review.

Cons

You couldn't do things through a mobile device. A lot of field staff and other personnel in various industries were always on the go and we couldn't have remote access on smartphones.

New to this software, I am having a hard time coming up with a pro, I am hoping after I have used it for a while I will get more comfortable with it. The people who are using it in my company have been for years, as a new user, it is very difficult.

Cons

I am not sure if we just haven't updated it since it was purchased or if the problem is in the software, it has very few functions and looks outdated. I have a very difficult time maneuvering through invoices and feel it's very open to errors.

Pros

Bank services helps us to be more updatd with our bank reconciliations. Also the possibility of the Intelligence Reporting Report Designer Add-on is very helpfull.

sometimes there is a glitch when using copy and paste on all modules, sometimes I get an error pop-up and the program closes.

The software does what you need it to do for daily accounting functions with minimal crashes or delays. However, the reporting function needs to be updated to a usable format so that it takes the end user less time to gain the information needed.

Pros

The software is very reliable and there are very few hiccups in day to day use.
It's also very handy to have features such as:
- Attaching documents/invoices to an AP or Journal Entry
- Recurring journal entries
- Project Coding

Cons

I find the interface layout to be a little archaic. It is not very modern in comparison to other accounting software.
A troublesome area is when making entries in the General Ledger module, the entries are not reflected in the AP, Bank, or AR modules. However, making entries in the AP, Bank, or AR modules are transferred correctly in the GL.
Lastly, the reports that are generated by Sage 300 can be put into Excel 97-2003 only. Furthermore, the reports are generated in a very complex manner with poor formatting and many merged cells. Trying to manipulate and sort data can take a long time.
It would be very helpful to be able to search/filter through Sage by the invoice/document number. The only option to do this is to either export the data to Excel, or search by vendor.

For AP/AR/payroll the product provides us with good tools that we need to manage the books. Our accounting/admin dept. is mostly all just trained from within without much outside help except when we try to do new things. Overall if there was a 3.5 I'd give it that.

Pros

The ease in which I was able to get up to speed on the product. I have little accounting experience and the layout was pretty easy for me to get a handle of. I was quickly able to navigate to the proper menus/places because it just seemed intuitive.

Cons

The product is a good product but it seemed that whenever we have "technical" issues it takes forever to fix. We don't have an in house it guy and he often seems to have to jump through hoops to get the problem solved.

Cons

Cons

User permissions cannot be set by entity. If you create a user, they can see all entity information. Data software is not easy to use outside of our network (since we self host).

Cons

Occasionally we find certain functions that do not work well and have to contact Sage support. It is a little challenging when adjusting receivables especially when you have to void payments first and then later go back in and apply the payments again.

Reporting is relatively easy once you have done the set-up. Able to export to excel for outside users such as auditors is helpful.

Pros

Input is quick and easy. It has been around long enough that most bugs are sorted out unlike some software. Once you learn some of the tricks/shortcuts it is even easier.Updates are frequent and the help desk resolves issues quickly. Able to customize reports.

Cons

Like most software it takes some time to setup. Customizing to your business is a feature but then you need to learn to us crystal in order to make updates. Closing month in one module doesn't always update or close the others.

Widely used by many construction companies.

Pros

Gets the job done. Can be customized to handle most tasks. Great ONLINE support. Very stable.
Performs all general accounting and payroll functions very well.

Cons

No drill down functions. You can tell that different software groups developed various modules and NEVER went back to make them consistent. GET RID OF NEW STYLE JOB SETUP SCREEN!!!!

Pros

The ease of all the modules to use. The interaction of the modules makes costing of jobs and printing financials at month effortless. The customer support for the software is very good.

Cons

Would like to see the software update process streamlined. The process is not terrible but would like it to be simpler.
