## Google Classroom Pros and Cons

We analyzed 2,900 verified reviews for Google Classroom to find out what actual users really think.

Select to learn more

Flexible Digital Learning Spaces

Google Classroom provides a virtual environment for organizing lessons, assignments, and resources. Teachers can set up multiple classes, share materials, and manage activities remotely, making it easier for students to access coursework and participate from anywhere.

Centralized Communication And Engagement

Google Classroom streamlines interaction between students and teachers, making communication, feedback, and collaboration easier. Announcements, Q&A forums, and assignment comments help keep everyone informed and engaged, while integration with Google tools supports organized digital learning.

Organized Assignment Tracking Tools

Assignment management is simplified with Google Classroom. Teachers can create, distribute, and grade assignments in one place, while students easily track deadlines and submit work. Built-in organization tools and integration with Google Drive help keep materials and feedback accessible.

Slow And Restrictive File Uploads

Uploading files can be slow and problematic, especially for large documents or non-Google formats. Users often need to use Google Drive as an intermediary, and mobile uploads may fail or be confusing, causing delays and extra steps for students and teachers.

Basic And Disconnected Grading System

Grading options in Google Classroom are limited and lack advanced features. Transferring grades to external systems is often manual and cumbersome, and the gradebook interface does not fully support standards-based grading or parent visibility.

Limited Video And Audio Support

Google Classroom lacks built-in video conferencing and often struggles with video and audio quality. Users report issues with streaming, screen sharing, and file uploads, making live interaction and multimedia sharing less reliable compared to other platforms.

Google Classroom Archive Downsides

5

It's seamless for when you use it, but I feel like it adds extra clutter to my workspace in the long run. I don't need things from 5 years ago in an archive. If I do go in to a class from years past, it just seems a big jumble of old classes. I wish I could nest them or something (similar to email folders). Maybe you can, but it doesn't seem intuitive.

5

Functionality

Pros:

I really like the ability to add kids to a class and send out one link and have everything covered. It cuts way down on communication with kids and parents. Most times I don't even send anything out; they know the classroom after they enter the verification code, and they can go to the page on their own to see what it is that I have added.

Cons:

I don't like how it never deleted your old classes but instead archives them forever. You can hide them, but I'd like the ability to just delete them.

Reasons for switching to Google Classroom

Easier to figure out the interface and kids were already familiar wit it from other schools.

Overall, Google Classroom is a solid tool that keeps school life a bit more manageable. It’s simple, convenient, and helps cut down on the chaos of juggling different apps and platforms. Pros:

Google Classroom makes schoolwork feel a lot more organized. Assignments, announcements, and class materials are all in one place, so you’re not digging through emails or random folders. It’s easy to use, loads quickly, and works well on pretty much any device, which is great for students and teachers.

Cons:

Sometimes things don’t sync right away, and you might miss a notification or two. Turning in assignments can feel a little clunky, especially when files don’t upload the first time. And if your teacher doesn’t set things up clearly, the whole class page can get confusing pretty fast.
