About Chaossearch

CHAOSSEARCH is a fully-managed Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that helps organizations build log analytics on Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3). The solution transforms S3 into a searchable data repository, allowing users to visualize application logs, devices, server logs or AWS logs and optimize costs for the analysis of data. The platform helps users store, assess and visualize log and event data in bulk on Amazon S3 infrastructure. CHAOSSEARCH offers integration with Cloudflare, Fastly, Slack and AWS VPC Flow Logs and extends support via email and documentation.

Easy replacement for ELK

We have saved a significant amount of money each month compared to hosting our own ELK stack. CHAOSSEARCH has been much more stable than hosting ELK.

PROS

It is very quick to get setup, using data already in S3 you can have log insights in a few clicks.

CONS

We found a few edge cases where fields were counted differently than in ELK. These were very minor bugs and were fixed really quick, nothing to really complain about.

Reasons for switching to Chaossearch

support, ease of use

Most Impactful Data Decision We've Made

Their customer support and account management is fantastic. The team is very welcoming and ready to help with anything that comes up.

PROS

CHAOSSEARCH has completely changed the way that we look at data within our organization. Previously we were trying to pull insights from disparate data sources and attempting to share those insights with members on our team - it wasn't working. CHAOSSEARCH brought sanity and organization to our data pipelines while also being cost effective. Any time I hear about a company struggling with data analysis or looking for a new solution I enthusiastically endorse CHAOSSEARCH - I couldn't be happier.

CONS

Honestly, can't really think of much. I have been incredibly pleased with CHAOSSEARCH and grateful to be a customer.

Reason for choosing Chaossearch

Pricing was a big initial factor but now that I've actually used the platform the features are the main sticking point.

A great way to run ELK for way less $$$

Overall, we are solving a real-time security response use case with ChaosSearch and have been able to fully replace our internal ELK stack while maintaining the same feature set and cutting cost by ~40%. While the overall performance of the product may be a bit slower than raw elasticsearch, it's hard to beat the low cost and maintenance of the product

PROS

ChaosSearch was very easy to hit the ground running with, and the support and engineering teams were (and still are) very responsive to all of our needs and questions

CONS

The overall reliability and uptime of the product has greatly improved since we started using it, but will always be something our team has a close eye on since our use case for ChaosSearch is security-related

Reason for choosing Chaossearch

The main factor for choosing Chaos was cost. Most other products on the market for searching over large 'data lakes' with a real-time ingestion were prohibitively expensive

Reasons for switching to Chaossearch

The cost and maintenance of our self hosted ELK setup was starting to become an issue. The use case was important to the company, but the time required to keep it running was driving us to explore alternative options
