Trello Software

Launched in 2011, Trello is a visual collaboration tool for planning tasks and projects. While commonly used by agile software development teams, the solution is also used in other departments such as marketing, sales, support and HR. The web-based solution provides tools to define projects, their requirements and the workflow to ensure projects are completed in a planned sequential manner.

Trello offers a digital board to create, organize and prioritize actions. Administrators or managers can even define workflows, assign tasks to individuals or teams, set deadlines and monitor progress. Trello cards allow users to collaborate with each other. Users can add comments, add members and attach documents to the tasks assigned to them.

Trello has a free subscription, but also offers a professional package, with the privacy and administrative settings required by large enterprises. Trello integrates with a number of online applications including JIRA Cloud, Bitbucket Cloud, Google Drive, GitHub and Slack.

Keeping Track of Team Tasks has never been easier!

Pros

Trello has a very user-friendly interface to work with. Being able to split up teams and keep track of everyones tasks from a central overview is absolutely amazing. Trello also offers a multitude of "powerups" (plugins) that integrate with other tools that get used on a day-to-day basis to streamline workflow even more.

Cons

I would have expected a dark theme/mode to be available for the website by now, but one still has to reply on 3rd party browser extensions to enable this.

I feel like TRELLO is a waste of time because unless all steve uses it

Pros

If you were to use the program for a long enough time to become familiar with the interface and you could convince all your other employees to use it with all of their services then maybe it could be viewed as useful and worth the time and effort to set up.

Cons

I feel like this program takes simple organization processes along with sharing between users , using alerts and complicates the entire already simple process. It just seems to add to something that was already working just fine

Where has Trello been my whole life?!

Ease-of-use

I use the free version.

Pros

This website can read my mind. If I want to make tasks, drag tasks around, assign them to other 'boards', color code labels, add sub-lists and to-do items, assign due dates - this site can do it for me. I can be as detailed or as simple as I want with this tool. I have personal boards for grad school and I have shared boards for work, but both are connected to one account which is great.

Cons

The mobile app is not my favorite -- I want to be able to push the 'enter' button my phone and immediately get a new task to generate. Instead of have to go through several different buttons/steps to accomplish that. Another con is that you need to make sure everybody on your team is trained on how to use Trello consistently - there are many ways to utilize this site, so make sure that your team chooses a particular way to use it so that everybody is on the same page.

Think Trello as a white board - if you have things written all over a white board and then you have some sticky notes as well, how can keep them organized? Trello just gives you the software version of doing that. Some kudos to the originator of this idea. Try using the mobile version and you will find it very easy to use.

Pros

They have a mobile app version and the app is very light weight, very easy to use. I love their drag and drop feature (well, it's an app - so that's not a surprise). You can create different boards. And there is no ad.

Cons

I really couldn't find much negative about their app. I think not being able to upload/attach a file to a board was my only gripe but then again, that's not what the app was designed for (in other words, I can't expect my MS-Word app to do what GMail does).

Great system overall.

Pros

The ease of use for my team and I to communicate infield and keep track of various jobs/tasks in our pipeline.

Cons

The tutorial could have been more detailed. We have multiple users in our company who utilize the app on a daily basis. Not everyone on our team is tech/app savvy. While "Taco" from Trello reached out several times to get feedback on the app, the "training" was a little bit basic considering the functionality of the app. When all the functions are not explained to the user, it lends itself to only using what you understand to use. I am confident that many of our team members do not maximize all the features and benefits available....but that's not uncommon. This is just constructive critique.

If you have any issues with planning out and delivering content, this could be the perfect solution. Organization of social media campaigns has been solved very eloquently through this app.

Pros

The ease with which you can sort, file, prepare various documents, images, ideas, and campaigns in a collaborative space. With the power to leave it at any time, change things at any time, and have easy reference for all team members to 'the plan'. You don't have to look back through email chains or texts strings to stay up to date with the program.

Cons

For our purposes it is perfect. Perhaps if it supported a wider variety of integrations it would be more marketable to outlying users. I would just make sure they support your adopted software before taking the plunge.

Trello is a great offering for someone who needs a more simplistic “sticky note” type platform, as another user mentioned. For what my team and I needed, it did not have the offerings. I wish I utilized this in other aspects of my business.

Pros

Trello is very straightforward for what it provides its users. It’s a board that can be customized for easy use. I enjoyed using it for applicant tracking and minimal requirements.

Cons

Trello premium does not have the ability to offer multiple "boards". I personally do not like the side the side-scrolling if you have a lot of columns. Harder to read and visualize.

A handy interface. Gives the feeling to the students that they belong to a team with a task and that it has to do with them to be succeded or not. This is the most important thing and this motivates students a lot. Of course the fact that parents can be engaged is an advantage and the collaboration of the whole gives the sense that the one has to take on mind the other in order to suceed

Pros

It is free.Easy to use. Attractive interface. The choices are wery interesting optimaized. Gives the sense that the collaboration is given and easy to procceed . Real time notifications, real very fast!

Cons

No freeform Tags are given and there is a limited number of labels.
It seems that it is difficult to work with multiple boards at the same time.

Visually appealing solution - Used as a personal productivity management tool and as a shared project resource between two users

Ease-of-use

Team collaboration on boards is easy.
It is an extremely intuitive application. If you expect a setting or program instruction to be found at a specific place, the chance is good that it is there.

The third party integrations through Trello's Powerups functionality, makes it possible to develop a customized Trello solution that is very powerful. But, that means that a user, or a company, would need to create an account with each of the third party solutions. This could become costly and difficult to manage because each solution has its own subscription rules.

I am very happy to use Trello. I use it everyday as my primary productivity management tool and as organisational repository for all the tasks associated with my different work projects. I have different boards for each project and many lists and cards for each boards. Cards are easily moved between lists once they are completed or when their content changes and they consequently relate better to a different list.

Pros

The visual appeal of Trello is the major factor that makes me prefer if above other productivity management solutions.
The interface is easy to use and understand.
It is easy to change card into its own list, or to transfer it to another board.
Navigation is simple.
Multiple users can access and work on a board if they have the permission.
A long list of other software products can be easily integrated with Trello with Powerups - (1). This makes it easy to access files/information contained in other products without leaving Trello. (2). It is consequently also easy to navigate to the other products through Trello.
It allows attachments of many different types to the cards.
Time/date stamp comments can be made to cards.
Activity on boards and cards are also time/date stamped with information regarding the changes made.
Team collaboration on boards is easy. It is a very intuitive application. If you expect a setting or program instruction to be found at a specific place, the chance is good that it is there. It is easy to set-up a new team with access rights to certain boards.
The GUI and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) of Trello, is very well developed and thought out.
Checklists can be added a card.
It is easy to set-up a new team with access rights to certain boards.

Cons

Text formatting is not enabled with the common "drag-select-change" or keyboard shortcuts that users are used too from other familiar applications. Instead characters need to be entered among the text to change a word to bold/italics... or to make text into headers, lists, and any other format options. The text format rules that Trello uses is called: Markdown formatting syntax. One has to remember the correct syntax if one wishes to edit the format of text.
Workflow automation or task assignment automation could strengthen Trello - but it does enable integration with other applications that might fill this requirement.
A calendar view is not part of the basic Trello solution - once again a integration with a third party application is required.

Defiantly add Trello to your list of options.

Pros

I used Trello for a few things including, task management, project management and our dev team would use it for sprint planning. It worked really well for these cases. What is really great about Trello is that is very easy to use and quite flexible. It allows you to easy create "task" and have quick view into them and get them ticked off easy. Your entire team can have access and work in a collaborative manner. You can also add integrations with a CRM, Sales Software for improved efficiencies.

Cons

I really can't see any downside. It quite easy competes with more complex and higher prices tools in market.

Value for Money

If you are looking for some tool to organize and prioritize your projects in a collaborative, fun and flexible way, please try Trello, you won't regret.

Pros

When thinking about Trello, it comes to my mind the word "organize". This is one of the simplest yet powerful tools you will find out there to keep track of your projects/tasks/activities. I use it specially at work and the best of it is that it's completely free. Additionally, I love the option to share my boards with others so that we all can work on it at the same time and keep track of all modifications every user is doing. Isn't that great?

Cons

The only Cons I can think about is that if you install the desktop version, it won't be that smooth as if you were using it on the web version. Although you have plenty of great functionalities in Trello, I don't like the comments section, it's kind of "old fashion" and with several comments you will end up with a large list of unproductive 'chat like' comments.

Trello is great for tasks where progress is defined by where it’s at in a stage rather than what needs to be done to get to that stage.

Pros

Trello is a great way to streamline productivity and a basic way to break down tasks into stages. The integration with photos, google, slack, etc also make it an excellent tool for a team.

Cons

I find all the tasks being clumped into each stage together to be visual clutter... although I can’t think of a better way for individual tasks to stand out from one another while still existing in the same progress card.

My business grew faster than I expected. This is the best tool for keeping me and my business on track and focused, life is good and a lot less stressful!

Pros

I love having everything at my fingertips, I can share with others, and clients/projects don't fall thru the cracks. This has even helped me to train my husband to do the grocery shopping. With Trello, we have a master list, and either one of us can deselect the check list when we run out of something. Makes delegating easy and saves time and money! This is the most valuable tool I use, and I am still working on the free version...crazy!

I use Trello every day together with my team and it allows us to effectively coordinate work and our tasks. We are totally addicted to it!

Pros

Trello is a flexible project management tool, web-based, which allows easily managing your daily work. You can organize all your daily tasks into cards that could be sort and moved among specific lists. Once a card is done, you can set it as complete and go on working without waste your time.

You can work on cards together with your teammates and you can track the progress of the global work in real time.

Trello has many features and it offers the opportunity to configure a specific workflow in order to quickly deal with tasks, assignments, and insights.

There are many integrations available (Power-Ups) to easily connect Trello with other apps, such as Google Drive,

It's good for what it is: a free, noncommitive alternative to bigger software suites like Favro or JIRA

Pros

It's free, you can set it up relatively quickly and in the context of schoolwork or smaller projects it's of adequate scope.

Cons

Moving cards feels sluggish and it feels like there isn't enough space to go around the board, especially with the sidebar often taking way too much space onscreen.

Pros

We have been using Trello for 3 years now. We work through a common account through which all employees sit. I like the Japanese style of dashboards very much. It's convenient to use, no extra information. It is immediately obvious that the task is either in work or has already been completed.

Cons

The service is perfect for medium-sized projects with not very large number of participants. If there are too many participants, then there is a risk that there will not be enough dashboards for everyone. We'll have to either pack the information more compactly, or look for another service.
