Workamajig is a cloud-based HTML5 project management solution designed for creative ad agencies and in-house advertising teams of all sizes. Key features include opportunity tracking, project management, time tracking, resource management and complete finance and accounting.

Workamajig enables users to create project tasks, assign them to people and collaborate on these tasks from a single message portal. The creative management functionality of the solution allows users to create project schedules, manage freelancers and track time spent on each project with the help of automated timesheets.

Workamajig also features resource management, which allows users to plan and execute their marketing schedules and monitor all the ongoing projects from a single portal.

This product helps creative agencies manage all the aspects of their businesses starting from finance management and revenue forecasting, scaling all the way up to customized management reporting and profitability assessment.

Available on per user per month subscription, it offers support via phone and email.

CRM management, none of my clients are falling through the cracks - I can work for the day and not worry about missing the details of a client or appointment

Cons

If I spell something wrong, it's not recognized in the system allowing for duplication. I have to go into multiple screens to update contact info - if I have two contacts connected to one business and I'm only talking to one of those contacts, the notes for that contact do not show up under the other.

Workamajig is a pretty robust system which houses all of your Project Management and financial data in one place. It's a little like one of those old boom boxes which does a little bit of everything rather than one thing really well. It is tremendous value for your buck and can be customized to meet any needs you have.

Pros

The new HTML version is finally catching up to the current market leaders.

Cons

Slow development cycles.
Still primarily in Flash

Advice to Others

If you have the need to integrate with a CRM, go elsewhere. The WMJ CRM is nothing to write home about.

While using Workamajig, it did successfully fulfill our basic needs from project management software. But we've recently switched over to Workfront, and realize even more now that Workamajig needs to step up its game to continue competing in this market.

Pros

Once the user becomes familiar with the software, Workamajig is fairly easy to use. Workflow and project management setup and options lack many bells and whistles, but overall the software is sufficient in meeting our departmental needs.

Cons

Workamajig isn't very intuitive or user friendly when you're first diving into the software. The user interface is a bit cumbersome, and the overall experience looks and feels a bit clunky and dated.

Overall I am happy with workamajig as it does exactly what we need it to do to keep track of our budgets and content pertaining to each project that goes through our agency.

Pros

The software is relatively easy to pick up on. In our agency we use it to organize our projects and move them through our creative department and it has been an excellent way to keep all of the information organized and accessible.

Cons

I find that the software lags a bit, especially when we are uploading attachments.

We use Workamajig as our main project management tool here it is great for keeping track of our scheduling, billing, etc.

Cons

There is a lot you need to know about this software in order to use it. It isn't an easy 1-2-3. It takes time and training on it, like any good software does, but it does get confusing sometimes about where to find information.

Lots of training for little reward. We ended up cutting it about 6 months in.

Pros

It accomplished the jobs of a lot of different programs so we only had to use this one software.

Cons

There were so many features and sections of the program that training/setup lasted weeks and then we still didn't know how to use it efficiently.

I like the fact that I can look into a specific job and see what our budget was for that job number, if we went over, and what the actual hours were spent designing. This helps me better accurately give estimates for future similar jobs.

I wish I could download or preview all attachments at once instead of having to download multiple attachments one at a time.

It could be a really helpful software but getting the rest of the campus to use it has been trying at times.

Pros

I did like that you could keep everything in one place. All conversations could be tracked.

Cons

The navigation was a bit complicated. Maybe it was because we are a small community college and did not use all the features or because I am still pretty new with using it.

It's made it a lot easier for me to track my teams status as it relates to budgets. Trying to get people to a place where they are fully aware of the time they have invested and what they have left. Using platinum and a project management tool has been rewarding. We are starting to use it more to track content and progression of jobs. I hope that it replaces trello so we are more integrated between departments.

Pros

Very intuitive UI. Has a lot of features beyond budget tracking and project management. I feel like I am just scraping the surface of all the capabilities.

Cons

Still not very mobile friendly. A little clunky on Chrome with some to the drop downs.

This is the third agency I've used Jig at. Every place has it set up different but the pain points I mentioned above are consistent at each place. I haven't seen the platform evolve much over time, I can't believe there isn't a calendar integration yet or a mobile app.

Pros

Timesheet capabilities. I don't use it for much else at this point, I use Outlook Tasks to keep track of what you call "my activities".

Cons

No integration with Outlook or Google Calendar. The search function doesn't seem fully developed, doens't always populate the things we are looking for. Requires a lot of refreshing. No mobile app. There is not a great personal task option, not everything I need to complete needs to be on an activity.

The simplicity of it. So easy to use and understand. I enter alot of media insertion orders and timesheets, and have never had an issue in almost 9 years of using it. It's also great to research invoices etc.

I don't LOVE entering insertion orders in. It takes ALOT of time and become quite tedious.

Overall, the product is an extremely effective tool for workflow and data logging, if only some of the bugs could get ironed out.

Pros

WMJ provides a solid platform for each sector of the creative business. It's relatively easy to track time, create budgets & schedules, and monitor projects overall. The interface is clean and appealing, especially in the Platinum update.

Cons

The flash version is archaic and extremely buggy. The updated version can be glitchy and doesn't automatically update to the current day. When entering tasks or time, it often has glitches and errors, or adds to the wrong fields.

Workamajig is a solution for running our projects and our accounting needs.

Pros

I like that it's a full solution from sales, project management, and accounting.

Cons

It's not very intuitive. I've used the program for a lot of years and the one thing I hear all the time is how it's not easy to get around. I also like to see a way to upload an HR file within the employee and a better way to track vacation. I feel this is really missing in the program.
