Booker by MINDBODY is a cloud-based booking solution that provides businesses in cosmetics and wellness industry such as spas and salons, tools, which help them to manage their booking routines, payments, customer interactions and marketing activities. Key features include a built-in scheduler, social media booking, integrated point of sale (POS) functionality, email marketing, customer surveys and more.

Booker features credit card processing, gift certificates, e-commerce capabilities and can also accept mobile payments from the customers. The solution integrates with websites such as Yahoo, Bling, Yellow Pages, SuperPages and more that allows users to advertise their open appointments.

Additionally, Booker offers customer relationship management (CRM) capabilities, employee scheduling tools, a business intelligence (BI) dashboard and features inventory management, customer loyalty programs and a reporting engine. Mobile functionalities for remote access are also provided by the solution.

Services are offered on a monthly subscription basis that includes support via phone, email and other online resources.

The absolute worst customer support I've ever experienced

There are none if you can't get payments from the credit cards. Unless you just want to have a great system for working free of charge

Cons

The people are very polite but can't ever get anything done. They just tell you they can't handle the issue and it needs to go to a different department. Except they won't transfer the call they will only send them an email and these "other departments" absolutely never contact you. The credit card payments for my spa are still going to the previous owner. This is almost 3 weeks and SEVERAL calls which I was mainly on hold for later. Still zero resolution or response. I have no idea why they have a customer support number. You might as well call my cat.

I am going to be switching over to something more reliable. I have had it! To many glitches, to many crashes, no one live to speak with!

Pros

It is user friendly. Easy to learn and teach to others. The scheduling is a no brainer. The customers love the text message reminders. they also love the email reminders.

Cons

It always glitches. It is always down. We can not schedule! We can not take a payment. We literally have to operate blind until it comes back up! It has crashed multiple times over the last 2 years ( over 25).
If you want to reach someone, expect an email back in a day or so. Don't bother "chatting" you will be waiting for someone to come on forever... only to be disconnected. There is no "live" assistance!

Easy to manage clientele great to book online user friendly website with junky customer service .....

Cons

Constant issues with system either shutting off or the text not going through. People rely on their text message reminders and if they don't get them they don't come in. This has cost me a lot of money with no shows. Guess I have to go back to paper book and texting everyone by myself in the mornings. The worst part is that every time I send in a complaint it is never the system. It is always Verizon or AT&T or the other carriers. Hello..... hows come i can text them just fine????

Easy to do some basic things, doesnt let to know when you are tipping out, splits the tips with every product purchased.

Cons

Tech support is ALWAYS over booked. you can call at 3:00 AM and you will get the same message- We are experiencing higher call volume than normal.
The sales people called a couple times a day before I committed.

We love booker, and so do our guests. They are always commenting on how easy it is to book their appointments, and we love that. It is also very convenient for our receptionists to learn, and manage the software.

Cons

I wish that there was better management of double-booking services. Usually you don't want this to happen, but especially with hair, there are times when it's appropriate.

nothing at this point, i came back with high expectations. Have been let down on every level, online chats don't even get back to you which results in loss of time and energy trying to get problem resolved.

Cons

they now currently run two versions in which they claimed would be merged into one, has not happened so basically your paying same as other version with far less features, such as customers being able to join waitlist online, or book two services together in one transaction, very annoying for customers as well as salon.

the charges and fees are not what they told you when you signed up. No explanation on all the fees and charges. The bank statement does not agree with the monthly statement.

Ease of use, mobile login is nice, extensive report options and Frederick is everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Booker version 2 is no good! Aweful software, I would never recommend this!

Pros

It’s base off a browser instead of your hard drive. There’s nothing else positive to say about this product.

Cons

You cannot switch to version 1 from version 2.
Plenty of open tickets, so bad that you manually have to do your own payroll because the point of sale credit card machine they tell you to get doesn’t communicate well with the booker software.
The point of sale credit card machine that they say only works with booker version 2 doesn’t communicate well together.
Make sure your internet is fast and have good frequency.
Customer service is no help.
I have had booker for 8 months and they still have not fixed these important problems.

Overall We love the abilities given with the app and software and makes it easy for our staff to grow their clientel.

We have found that it works the best for those who are independent Contractors who only work by appointment, and those who do not want to recieve calls on thier personal phones or email for appointment setting.

Pros

Easy to set up with all of your solan/personal information, including your services, prices, discounts, coupons, BOGOS ect. Makes it easy for clients to find and book with the right salon and Person that they want with ease.
Quick access to appointments and scheduling and verification of upcoming dates.

Cons

The software does at times run a little slow and we have had issues in the past where a client has scheduled appointments and they didnt not come through to our system .

For the price, I decided to go back to my old ways of scheduling things. I just found it much more efficient and more reliable than using booker.

Pros

Booker is good for a generic scheduling software, however, it did not fit my business and was way to expensive for what was offered. I found that it crashed a lot and data was getting lost often, which was surprising for how much I spent a month.

Overall my experience with booker was less than satisfactory. If you want a basic overpriced system this is the way to go. They will promise you everything to get that start up fee (which is non-refundable) but once they have you locked in the truth comes out

I was contacted by a rep at booker a while back and was told that booker would fit my business perfect. I was sold quite a story and I bought into it. I spent hundreds of dollars with the set up fee just to find out it didn't work for grooming salons at all. Everything the rep had told me they had they didn't. In the end I ended up cancelling and biting my losses because the monthly fee was so high and the start up fee was high as well. It was full of glitches and my online appointments were constantly getting lost. I wish it was the software I was sold because I was so exited, but it just wasn't. I was hopeful for months, utilizing support to ensure I understood the system correctly, but it just didn't have what was promised

I enjoy how easy the software is to use. It is so easy to train new receptionists with all of the training videos and how easy it is to navigate. The appointment calendar looks clean and very self explanatory. Many of our technicians love using this system as well since they can look at the desktop version as well as the mobile version. With all of the improvements that Booker has made too, I would definitely recommend to a salon or spa owner.

Cons

The thing I dislike the most is how difficult it is to get in touch with Customer support. I will call in and leave a call back number since I am extremely busy on a daily basis. They often say that someone will call me in ten minutes so I make sure that my phone is on ring and ready to take the call and then I will receive a call back over an hour later when I am already in another meeting. It is quite frustrating.

Booker for Salons is not as horrible as some make it out to be, but it is also not the best software. It has some features others may not be able to look over.It has helped me this far and I've been in the industry 10 years now. I will say this is on the lower end budget wise, but I don't believe it's worth the amount I pay monthly. The only reason I still have the software is because I'm comfortable with it, and I've kind of just gotten use to it! If you can afford to pay a little more monthly, there is definitely other software on the market worth the money!

Pros

With being a mother two children, working 2 jobs during the week, and also being a licensed cosmetologist and having to book my clients around my schedule during my spare time can get a bit hectic! However, Booker has helped me out with keeping things organized. I like that I can pull up my clients and see their full information. It took me less than a day to learn the software, very user friendly.

Cons

I have attempted to call Customer Service ONE time, and that was the LAST time! Absolutely horrible service. Also I love that I can access all of my clients information in one click, but I can also see if this software is being used in a larger salon this could be a privacy concern. As a stylist I sometimes place notes in the file that others should not see..I would just keep that in mind!

Booker is a godsend for so many salons. It is very user-friendly and they have implemented the use of embedded training videos for all the features; this is a wonderful tool and works very well for people who are visual learners, which most stylists happen to be. For salon managers and owners, Booker offers a variety of tools: time-clock, sales tracking, inventory, tip allocation, expenditures/budgets, etc. Being a web-based software, it's very easy to add a widget or embed a link on your website and/or Facebook page to allow customers to easily schedule themselves for services. In addition, there is a built-in point of sale system that makes it easy to check out clients without needing to switch over to another program and/or system.

Cons

The downside to being a web-based software: if the server is down or there is an issue with the website, you cannot access your calendar or your point of sale system. Booker has been awesome enough to provide a separate website where they allow you to report issues of the system being down and also announcing known issues. Their customer service makes up for this issue.

There are a lot of booking programs out there and none of them do a great job -- and this is one of them. It's too much time/money/work to switch over until we find the right software, so we'll stick with this until we do. But I wouldn't really recommend it.

Pros

It has a lot of features and, over the years, they have improved their usability/interface. But it's still complex, and the interface is not super easy.

Cons

Crashes all the time. The interface is complicated.

I would highly recommend Booker software. I appreciate their application for smartphones, too.

Pros

It’s mostly intuitive and easy to use, and I was able to learn most features without issue.

Cons

I found it difficult to create and manage UPC codes for products.

My hotel has been using Booker since 2012, the software has evolved a lot since then. Our spa receptionist like the fact that it is so user friendly for all Spa Booking peruses ,appointment scheduling to payment processing. I use the reporting feature for financial reporting and Payroll processing. The Spa Manager loves the recently added Marketing feature as well.

Pros

This software offers a lot of reports to accommodate from statistics to financial reporting.

Cons

We had some issues with customer service in the beginning, but it has gotten much better now.
