We are absolutely thrilled to join the Hostaway family

PROS

We love how intuitive it is to use it. The onboarding process is very easy to follow and [sensitive content hidden] from Onboarding Team has been absolutely amazing! The integration of the OTAs has been instant, the payment system is great, the booking engine seems quite easy to use too. We've been using it for less than a month but it is already saving us so much time with the automation of all the processes.

CONS

So far, the only issue we have is that there is no way to tag the apartments or mark the reservations with a tag/note "early check-in" or "luggage drop off" in the App so our team can be notified, can easily see the changes and prioritize cleaning of those apartments. That would be a brilliant addition in the future!

Deceiving Sales Proposal & Lack of Customer Service

PROS

I was really excited for Hostaway. I loved the look and feel of the system, the features seemed great, although I didn't get far enough to use them.

CONS

I manage properties with several owners, so I need reporting at the unit level. This was a specific feature and requested and repeatedly spoke about with my sales representative. $500 later between onboarding fees & first month, I was told that that wasn't available, no money back. Disappointed to say the least! Onboarding can take 10 days to 2 weeks for your first session and time between onboarding sessions is too long considering they only give you a short period of time to access it.

Hostaway - good but painful!

We moved from Hostify to Hostway due to the greater amount of features available. Whilst we still believe we did that right thing it has taken a time, effort and money to get things working well. Even now, 2 months later we are uncovering syncing errors which have cost us dearly. Anyone thinking of using this product needs to make absolutely sure that data is being snycronised correctly. It's also worth noting that whilst Hostaway has a very in depth online help centre the actual customer services is frustrating whereby agents don't seem to understand the problems.

Don’t use Hostaway. You will regret it.

Negative in the extreme. We are having to go to court to try and get money back that hostaway charged us after canceling. Don’t let them get your financial info. You will regret it.

CONS

Hostaway was a total ripoff. Horrible customer support and very difficult to use. And if you do use it you will have a very difficult time getting rid of it. They billed me even after canceling and refused to refund money. And it took weeks to relist properties in VRBO after canceling HOSTAWAY resulting in major losses.

Their sales pitch was very strong and elaborate

We had their sales rep falsely represent the company and their software functionality to close the deal. Once we started we realized the tool does nothing he said it would.. beware as this will cost you more time and money than the “solutions” it gives. The tool has so many bugs and quirks. The worst part is that 7 days later when we asked to cancel they kept our full onboarding fee and full subscription fee! Even tho they alnowleged they mis sold us, we had to dispute with our credit card because they went radio Silent. Bad business and bad software. Betters are out

High quality PMS and Channel Manager

PROS

Hostaway seems to be at the forefront of PMS and channel management software for furnished housing operators. The support team, including [sensitive content hidden] and others responds quickly and resolves issues effectively. I highly recommend making the switch to Hostaway.

CONS

Our rate plan was increased quite significantly after our first year which I'm told was due to upgrades being made and that there wouldn't be ongoing price increases. If that changes I will need to reconsider our options.

So far, so good! It's still early though.

Hostaway enabled us to cut ties with an expensive and bureaucratic STR management company. The program gave us mush greater control over virtually every aspect of our business.

CONS

It is a complex program that requires training (provided by a Hostaway on boarding specialist) to use. It is also more geared to managing multiple listings; I'd like to see "light" version for single listings.

Hostaway turned our holiday rental into a business

PROS

For years we just used Airbnb for our handful of holiday rentals. That left us feeling slightly used and resentful as you are at the mercy of their call centre staff. I found hostaway on google and it was difficult to choose from the channel managers advertised there, but I chose hostaway after reviews said they had incredible customer service. I would utterly agree with that. For, frankly, a very small cost, I had 6x 45 minute onboarding zoom calls with an agent who walked me through the platform, explained all the different channels, helped me set up our booking engine, helped me choose a company name and register that plus set up a credit card payment app so we could take payment. Plus he helped me set up each of the different channels - Vrbo, bookings, Google, from our original airbnb listings. Ace liberated us from Airbnb and it felt like I was working with a trusted colleague and an old friend. I actually miss our onboarding meetings:)

Haven't found any yet. The message front end is a little vague - I find I miss messages more than I did with airbnb, but I will probably get used to the graphics.

Great training with [sensitive content hidden]

So far so good. As users we enjoyed it and now as a admin too early to tell.

We had a great time setting up our Hostaway new account with the help of our onboarding specialist [sensitive content hidden]. We already using Hostaway because of our property manager gave the user access to us but now we decided manage our properties by ourselves and in future we can try to manage others as well with the help of powerful Hostaway by side.

It takes time to get used to and connect all the channels but you have your trainer help with all of them.

A great Product that listens to users...

Hostaway saves me time and this is a really big thing. We have a lot of moving parts in the hospitality business. The fact that there is a lot of automation possibilities in the product makes our lives a lot easier and time won can be focused on other Business Development tasks.

PROS

The software is intuitive and easy to use. Clear user interface that is not complicated. The first setup is very easy and when questions arise, the helpdesk is really quick in answering. Team is also helpful with the setup. Most importantly, the team listens to what we, the users, are missing and will implement in fairly short time.

CONS

I do not have any real cons for Hostaway product. Like many of the similar products it does not have all in it what we would need (Like good Owners Reporting Tool) but it is 90% of what we need to run our business.

The completeness of the Hostaway Product won me over. Also the price to what was offered between the three products won me over to go to for Hostaway. Also the attention of the team to really support us in the transfer to Hostaway.

Exceptional Support - Software is still young but off to a great start

I like this company, their culture, and their obvious commitment to the client. The software is very intuitive, user-friendly, and has a fantastic design. Lastly, their customer support is exceptional. They are obviously committed to working with the client and making sure their end users are happy.

PROS

I appreciate the simplicity and user-friendliness of Hostaway. The display is appealing to the eyes and the menus are intuitive. Additionally, the customer support team accessibility is hugely beneficial. I can get quick answers to my questions - they are very responsive. The value of that is beyond measure for a property manager or someone who has a demanding schedule.

CONS

The software could offer more templates and automation as it relates to booking and task management. There are a number of processes that take place due to different scenarios as it relates to guests, their needs, and changes in reservations. My experience thus far with Hostaway is that they are actively improving their product which is very nice.

I worked with OwnerRez for a month and a half and the onboarding was still in process. While the software was sophisticated and thorough, the onboarding process was painful. Their support is only available via an email ticketing system. I was lucky if I got a 1-2 hour meeting once a week and at the end I was criticized for needing so much support. Transitioning to a channel manager and scaling your operations from working with individual platforms is no easy task. Myself and my assistant were in flux for a very long period of time and OwnerRez did not appreciate that.

Hostaway is terrible. Looking for a new PMS

After I read a lot of review about this software, I was confident that it wil be the best for my Hostel. Since we started with Hpstaway, we had a lot of deception. We are looking for a new software.

CONS

We had a price arrangement at for the first few month and it was competitive (20$/room/months). Hostaway ignor the deal that we had and start charging me 50$/rooms/months. We can not affort the new pricing and we will have to change software as soon as possible. It's terrible for us to go back and change software again because it's a lot of additionnal job for us and our employee.

So happy we switched to Hostaway!

Fantastic! Telephone support is fabulous and they record calls and send them back. We worked with [sensitive content hidden] and some financials and her knowledge of Hostaway and the other channels was impressive.

PROS

I looked no less than 10 property management software/channel management software systems and Hostway was far more effective than the other system combined.

CONS

I am a fast study. I wish we could book onboarding calls very other week. There appears to be a shortage of onboarding specialists. Luckily the system is user friendly and I went ahead and completed things on my own :)

No real financial reporting and the app was inconsistant.

Hostaway streamlines channel management

Once onboarding began, I felt well supported. My onboarding specialist was clear, patient, and explained things thoroughly as well as answered my questions and reviewed things with me when I asked for more clarification. As I explore the platform, I feel confident that Hostaway will help me put my business in front of more clients through other booking platforms and my self booking site.

PROS

Being able to easily port your AirBnB listings to Hostaway and other channels, guest communication, calendar and changes all done within the Hostaway platform.

CONS

I felt there was a disconnect between when I shut down my previous platform (Evolve), and when Hostaway could get me running on their platform. For close to 2 weeks, I was running on AirBnB only and had lost my other booking platforms because Hostaway advised me to get disconnected from Evolve so I would be ready for the onboarding. I also was not aware that I would not be able to set a user name and password with Hostaway, and therefore not have an account with them until the day onboarding began. This made for a bit of a rough start.

Reasons for switching to Hostaway

Low price booking strategy used by Evolve to keep property occupied, but with questionable guest quality. I was doing all of the management and guest communication. After initial listing setup, Evolve was doing very little for 10% of my profits. Some of my guests were frustrated with Evolve's communication/ customer service, and I could not reach AirBnB Superhost status even though I had met all of the requirements for 18 months because Evolve was the host and also hosted lower performing properties in my area. I did not want my hard work to be brought down by other owners who do not take the same pride in their properties, and I wanted more control of my pricing and listing management, including better photos and video.

New Hostaway Client!

Our Hostaway experience has been great so far. We met with the Hostaway team at the VRMA conference in Orlando in late October. We met with [sensitive content hidden] and they were quickly able to answer all of our questions. We signed on with Hostaway during the conference. In about 2.5 weeks, we are now fully integrated. We have been very impressed with the process and [sensitive content hidden] has been awesome! We learned so much from him and he was great at keeping our integration moving along quickly. We were previously integrated with another PMS software and the process took 3 months and we had lots of challenges. This experience was far better than we could have imagined.

PROS

Hostaway offers more features and better functionality compared to other PMS programs we have used or looked at. Hostaway's onboarding program is far better than the competition. Features that were critical for us: mobile app, ease of use, reporting, listing management.

CONS

We haven't found anything that will create issues for us yet.

After having our first conversation with [sensitive content hidden], we knew Hostaway was a top contender. We chose to follow up with them the next day and after digging in a little deeper, we knew that Hostaway would be able to accommodate our growing business. [sensitive content hidden] introduced us to [sensitive content hidden] and even joined our first meeting for a few minutes to say hi and thank us for our business. They were able to have us integrated in a short amount of time, far faster than we had anticipated.

We made the switch for the following reasons: -Lack of support. The support team is difficult to reach and was nearly impossible to find a live person to talk to. -Functionality. We are a growing company with 65 listings currently. We plan to add another 20-30 within a year and we needed a PMS that we were confident in. -Mobile App. We needed an app that was reliable. Our Hostfully app was clunky and the calendar would often go blank. -Appreciation. We didn't feel that Hostfully was a good partner for us. Their lack of support and customer service left us feeling like they didn't appreciate our business.

Too many glitches!!!

Terrible! When onboarding, Hostaway drops syncing and blocked dates set up in Airbnb costing my company nearly $800 in Airbnb cancellation fees. And because I had to cancel double bookings, Airbnb suspended my account, and cost me $1000 of potential earnings. Hostaway has very limited customer service hours. No evening or weekend hours. Hostaway cannot accommodate a property that is rented as separate units or as a whole.

What Hostaway promises was very appealing, however it did not deliver.

I am a small business owner of 8 vacation rentals. I manage all properties myself and was hoping Hostaway’s platform would help make my job easier to manage and allow folks to book directly with me.I chose Hostaway mainly for the promised ability to see all my properties on one platform, help with housekeeping/maintenance tracking and help me create a personalized website that would allow returning Airbnb and VRBO guests to book direct.

Avoid. Save yourself the headache and 8months trying to make Hostaway work. Just go with Guesty

Too many issues to dive into. If you value accurate financials, Hostawya will not work. If you want a system that syncs up to Airbnb or VRBO correctly, Hostaway is not the answer and you will spend hours each week re-creating your listings as Hostaway will delete the info. Support doesn't exist. You cannot reach anyone and they only actually offer email support (within 48hrs)

Most of their features are a shell so they can say "we offer xyz" when selling you the product.

Best Channel manager software I've used

As I said before, me and my team are a big fan. Functionalities are almost everything I need. The overview is very good. And I never encountered a glitch, something I appreciate a lot! Also, costumer service is really good. Pricing could be better but is OK.

After using several other channel manager software for my 8 unit Boutique Hotel, I discovered Hostaway about 2 years ago. I truly like the integrated features for my 3 channels (Airbnb, Booking.com & own website). It gives a clear and straightforward overview of the calendar & pricing. Easy to adjust pricing by day & by channel individually. I'm a big fan of the automated messages (set-up), as it saves us heaps of time. Also, we never encountered any issues with sending out & receiving messages (very important!). I'm a big fan.

CONS

Although, I use the mobile app several times a day, it can use some adjustments. I'ts not the best app there is in form a style and overview. On the other hand it's relatively fast & very easy to use. And also here, it always works.

Reasons for switching to Hostaway

Igms didn't give enough functionality (at that time) for all the channels I was using. Especially Booking.com was poor supported on iGMS (back than it was called AirGMS).

PROS

I transitioned to Hostaway after using several products that ended in frustration after not meeting my company's needs.Hostaway is one of the first products that offers a complete solution that just about hits every mark that I have been looking for while supporting/empowering my company growth.

CONS

The financial settings / owner statements are cumbersome to setup but [sensitive content hidden] and the onboarding process is helping me tremendously work out the kinks. The VRBO integration

Affordability + Not a significant Implementation Fee + Impressive features that are appealing for a property management (cohost) company... a lot of products do not support the cohost model very well.

Reasons for switching to Hostaway

The other products were severely lacking in several categories and improvements that had a negative impact on my growing business.

Hostaway rocks

Amazing overall experience.

PROS

From the onboarding to nowadays daily use, everything has been comfortable, the support is really useful aside their help center.

CONS

Nowadays, my main issue is about a calendar feature, which is pricing rule set. Indeed, it's develop for Airbnb but not yet for our Booking Engine and Abritel. The product team seems working hard to launch this new step. Finally, maybe the app could be a bit more develop. That's really to spot detail, my overall opinion is amazing.

It was a quiet hard decision and I don't remember exactly the reason why, but I think it was the price and the app.

Reasons for switching to Hostaway

We were working with 365Villa before and they were providing not even the half of Hostaway feature for almost the same price.

Excellent support and onboarding, highly flexible and adaptable.

Overall great onboarding experience, I'm glad I chose Hostaway for setting up a channel manager first time. The VRBO integration is one of the main reason I chose them so we will see if that gets solved. Hostaway has many features I will not use and don't need but it has already helped me save time in communicating with guests.

PROS

I chose Hostaway because it had a good reputation for client support VRBO integration, integrated sms and whatsapp messaging, sms scheduling, multi lingual message automation function, good multi-view calendar, chekin integration, guest portal, booking engine widget and booking website. My experience was: excellent, pro-active and knowledgeable client support, multiple personal google meeting onboarding sessions with an expert, good messaging integration with sms, airbnb, booking, email, multilingual messaging, good multi view calendar for daily organization, possibility to pre-authorize credit cards for security deposits I love the multi view calendar which clearly shows guest name, channel, phone number and host notes in a pop up screen... I love the message automations and being able to decide the hour of sending not jus the day, being able to edit programmed messages (but only on laptop). Every time I introduced a support ticket for a bug or anything, the support staff got back to me, updated and found solutions or workarounds, checked if the issue was solved, very good communication and support

CONS

Hostaway did not yet fully meet my expectations for the following aspects: VRBO integration is difficult and time consuming (still not up and running) Whatsapp integration (need to use templates, communication only activates for a short time, and not able to define own template) Lack of guest registry page with URL (similar to what smoobu or ownerrez have) (apparently this is planned development) to collect information from the guest after booking with user-defined drop-down boxes or text boxes Booking widget and availability calendar widget: i would like to be able to customize more I would like a calendar widget with multi calendar view Lack of airbnb review widget to publish reviews on own website and blogs [SENSITIVE CONTENT] integration: this is chekin fault but integration is not as good as expected, competitor "checkin scan" has better features STRIPE/payment integration and client portal: Does not fit my needs - I don't think guests will enter credit card details for a property manager they don't know based on private website - paypal integration would be better. Setting up is time consuming but that is because the system is so flexible and so highly detailed The software attempts to integrate with every aspect of the OTA even for channel specific fields, but in my opinion some of these parameters are better handled directly in Airbnb or booking; So would be interesting maybe to simplify and direct the user to the OTA for things that are not updated every day
