File sync - it does what it needs to do!

SureSync replaced Windows DFS to synchronise data between servers in 5 separate sites. The granularity, real-time and log views of individual actions meant that SureSync was a huge step up from DFS in terms of manageability and tunability. The product development over the years has ensured that SureSync has become ever more reliable.

PROS

Once set up and with appropriate monitoring in place, it is a solid product. The support from both Open Seas and Software Pursuits has been excellent.

CONS

The initial setup was quite involved and complicated. However, with help from Open Seas, we got the configuration that we needed before too long.

Reasons for switching to SureSync

Windows DFS was unreliable and very difficult to troubleshoot. It used a staging area on each server, so was not very efficient in terms of disk space overhead.
