Excellent and Affordable Utility Billing Software
Could not be happier! Excellent support, great software, feel like our billing is in good hands.
PROSWhen searching for billing and customer management software (previously handled by our accounting software), we chose Utilmate because it is Cloud-based and affordable, and industry-specific -- built specifically for utilities. The software has exceeded our expectations. Even though it runs in the in cloud, it is responsive and fast. Our utility is unlike others in the way it bills and Utilmate deftly handles our exceptions. The customer support could not be more responsive, understanding and willing to work with us. It is a relief to have software specifically for our billing and customer management that is separate from our accounting program but still syncs with it.
CONSThe initial billing had some bugs, which Utilmate fixed in a very timely manner, and the learning curve was a little steep, but I think that's more about the exceptions specific to our utility that required some workarounds. Still working on making the reconciliation between our accounting system and Utilmate easier.
Reason for choosing Utilmate
Utilmate was more cost effective and cloud-based, which works for our team, because we are all located in different areas. It syncs with our accounting and GIS mapping system. It has excellent customer support.

Fulfils a Niche we needed!
We found Utilmate team very knowledgeable and accommodating to our requirements. Responses from support are timely and informative. Recent introduction of Web Demonstrations and talks are very helpful to users.
PROSWe were attracted to Utilmate as we are a very small Water Utility, and the pricing model suited us due to this. The software as a subsidiary and having the support of a much larger market player for very large utilities, gave us the confidence that we would be able to mature together with Utilmate. We found most functions that are standard with Utilmate fulfil what we require.
CONSSome parts of the process do fall across multiple screens, yet Utilmate are improving continually. with both new functionality and a recent User Interface redesign.
Reason for choosing Utilmate
The costs of both the larger systems and the development of a meter reading process into our ERP were prohibitive. Utilmate fits in perfectly and filles the Niche we were looking for.

To have a more robust and scalable system and process, combined with greater functionality as provided by Utilmate.

Ease of use -customisable with great support
It has been a very positive experience and the support is invaluable. I have used various other software solutions in the past and it is tough to get someone to listen to your concerns, let alone implement solutions.
PROSUtilmate took us from a relatively easy system to use, to one that while still having ease of use, it incorporated so many more features. We have a great relationship with the support team and they understand our requirements well enough to assist us in customisable solutions.
CONSThis is a tough one as we make changes when required, so we are left with little frustration. Some solutions take longer than others, but we have a direct line to discuss and offer feedback.
