The platform for your academic solutions.
It allows me a wonderful support in my educational programs with the student population that I have in my charge.
PROSI like the versatility of the platform and complete it, which allows an optimal learning of the students with the most updated teaching tools. Supported in technology.
CONSIt seems to me that it is a platform with great potential to be exploited in education models with excellence. I have no negative opinion.

Great SIS!
Maestro has been a game changer for our school. For the first time in over ten years, we have a platform that parents can access online and staff can access from any device. With the number of customizations and LTI connections, we will have a more user-friendly and robust SIS than before. Maestro was responsive and helpful in addressing our unique needs. They carefully investigated the state requirements and adjusted their program to fit our unique setting. We still have a lot of bugs to work out but I am confident Maestro will meet our needs moving forward.
PROSWe have been in operation for over ten years and have used a custom-built SIS in the FileMaker Pro platform. While it had many features we used and appreciated, there was no parent portal or online access. After researching a multitude of other SIS programs, our admin team selected Maestro as our finalist. I truly feel there is no other SIS program that could meet our unique needs as an online charter school in Oregon. During the entire set up and implementation process Maestro has been responsive, available, and thoughtful in their approach to our unique programs. They helped us meet each important reporting deadline throughout the year. They can build out the program to nearly whatever request you have. The ease of access and support have been amazing.
CONSWe were one of the first schools in Oregon to use Maestro so there was a learning curve there with all the complex reports needed for Oregon. Maestro was responsive, available, and helped us meet each deadline, it is just something to know is going to take time when they are working with a new state. Moving an SIS is a huge undertaking! Do not underestimate the amount of time, resources, and staff time moving your SIS will take.
Reason for choosing MAESTRO SIS
Maestro offered all the features of an SIS we wanted, LTI, customizations, but more importantly, they were willing to work with our unique requirements. Many of the other programs wanted us to do attendance their standard way, or would not build out customizations for us. In the end, moving to Maestro was a game changer for our school. I look forward to finalizing our implementation next year.
Reasons for switching to MAESTRO SIS
We wanted an SIS where parents could access online and that was accessible from any device (phone, tablet, computer, etc).

As far as being a huge undertaking, we try to make our users aware that changing systems is work, and cite the responsibilities they will need to assume in our proposals to make the expectations clear. Having a well-organized, techy project manager who understands the needs of the institution and plans ahead makes for an easier transition. For large institutions such as yours that have a variety of complex business practices and want to take full advantage of all that Maestro offers, the first few months are indeed a challenge, but once the entire system is configured for the individual institutional needs, our users tell us that the payoff in increased efficiency is worth the pain. I certainly hope you'll find the same to be true for Baker, once you get your final decisions made and give us your final specifications so we can complete your reporting needs! The good news is, teachers can become Maestro SME's with only 2 hours of training!

Maestro doesn't withstand heavy use at peak times
It works well with Courseware but I wouldn't suggest heavy usage.
PROSBulk enrollment features are nice when they can withstand the traffic. Making changes to students is easy. The ability to customize features is good.
CONSCan't withstand the heavy traffic at peak enrollment times. Spinning and wait time unacceptable during peak enrollments with multiple users.
Reason for choosing MAESTRO SIS
We used Maestro first and switched over to Geniussis but currently use both products. Migration to Geniussis will take more time but if Maestro had been able to withstand more users and traffic we may have stayed with it solely.

To provide context for Ms. Penrod's comments, within 2 weeks of Edmentum's 4400% increase in enrollments due to COVID (from July to August 2020), Maestro SIS was fully functional, as soon as we were able to get additional CPU. Had BocaVox been given a heads-up that there would be such an increased load, we would have increased the infrastructure in advance to support such a load. Maestro SIS has a test site with 2,000,000 enrolments that is scalable for enterprise clients. BocaVox is currently in the process of transitioning our institutions with 100K+ enrollments to the cloud, to facilitate the ability to quickly ramp up for unanticipated peaks.

Helpful for online learning
Overall, this is a good warehouse for student information. There are still program features that could be improved upon - most importantly, the ability to better format emails.
PROSMaestro was a good place to organize all the necessary information needed to teach students remotely. I could use this system to send emails to students and all necessary support systems - special educators, school coordinators, guardians, guidance counselors, etc. This was very useful in tracking communication. Additionally, I could access student profile information - addresses, phone numbers, IEPs, birthdays, etc.
CONSThe time-out feature and lack of autosave has been an issue. I lost an hour of entering data for report card purposes because the system timed out, and the information did not save. Additionally, the email formatting is horrible. You cannot create emails using paragraph structure.

Dear Tiffany, Thank you for your suggestions. We always appreciate hearing from others re how we can make Maestro better. No one else has requested auto-save but it's something we can add to our roadmap for a future release. Regarding the time out feature, it's an important security feature that can be increased or decreased based on the preferences of the client. There is a scrolling warning to let the user know 2 minutes prior to the time out. All you have to do is click for the timer to start over. Regarding your comments about Maestro's email functionality, we are sorry that you were unable to use the paragraphing structure.
