Constant Contact provides a range of intuitive marketing applications designed to help small businesses and nonprofits expand their customer bases and nurture relationships. Solutions include email marketing, event marketing, social campaigns and reporting, survey management and offer management—all of which are available either independently or as part of an integrated suite called the Constant Contact Toolkit.

Constant Contact’s email marketing application allows businesses to import customer data from spreadsheets or email clients, such as Gmail and Microsoft Outlook. Email sign-up forms can be personalized and embedded on web pages or on Facebook to capture new contacts and build email lists. The system offers hundreds of customizable email templates with drag-and-drop elements and also includes real-time reporting features to track email opens, clicks, forwards, social shares and more.

Constant Contact offers both online and in-person seminars and training to help users improve their marketing efforts.

Pros

Great for large group emails where a set list of recipients can be set up. It is also nice to see who has opened it, clicked on links, or can not receive it.

Cons

It takes me at least an hour to send out a mass email that would normally only take me about 15 minutes due to all of the options and set up you need to do. You also can not email to certain individuals unless they are all in one group/list together.

While I have a main CRM at my full time position that has everything I need, my freelance job requires low to no cost email marketing for small business, so I tried Constant Contact when I got the offer for 60 day free trial from Hostgator. Constant Contact has beautiful templates and an easy to use interface. It is more than capable of doing what I need for email marketing and automation.

Cons

It is not Free for small businesses while there is another option on the market that is forever free that has the same features if not better. That is the only reason I would not chose Constant Contact at this point.

There are a good deal of options out there for email marketing. Constant Contact is a reliable source and used by the bulk of my clients.

Pros

In recent months, Constant Contact has really made an attempt to step up their game. The new design interface has made the design process much easier. An additional plus is their linking with newer companies to make the data received much easier to use. For example, you can link to Shopify, which is a wonderful plus! Makes all of your hard work come to life, as you can see the direct link between emails and sales.

Cons

Currently their is no HTML input and that is very troubling for a more advanced user. The reasoning is the focus on making sure all emails are mobile and desktop ready, so understood. But still a con at this point.

If I can do it, anyone can. It is a good product, especially for those trying to build their contact database.

Pros

This is a good product for someone who is challenged when trying to send e-newsletters, etc. like me I like to think I am tech savvy, but the marketing side of things gives me a migraine. I am sure I would be better if I used it more often. We now have a dedicated marketing person and she loves this product and uses it whenever possible.

Cons

No cons that I can think of. My issues with it are due to lack of regular use. I was only using it a few times a year. Our new marketing person is well-versed on the product.

Pros

We started using Constant Contact as a way to keep in touch with our existing clients and also do some light marketing to prospective clients in the industries we service. Compared to doing blind email blasts, they've allowed for ease of list management and also have been immensely helpful understanding how effective marketing campaigns have been, with data on how favorable recipient response has been and tangible data on how many have unsubscribed or followed through. Managing these client lists manually in the past has been time-consuming and imperfect, having a stable list and being able to avoid accidentally mailing customers who've elected to opt-out is essential.

Another plus is making sure that mailing lists fall under legal requirements, so that you're in compliance with your country's guidelines on email marketing.

Cons

Our experience so far has been positive, we hope this service assists more small businesses keep in touch with their client base.

The set up is user friendly. There are a lot of free templates available to get you started. It is nice that CC automatically adds in the organization's saved information (Youtube Channel link, FB link, Twitter, addresses, etc.). The reporting is easy to read. I like that it integrates easily with DonorPerfect.

Cons

I would like to have the ability to have more than 2 photos beside each other some times int he emails. That option is no longer available with the new layouts.

Overall I think this is a great program to use to make contact and stay in contact with your customers and prospective customers. It allows you to build relationships within specific groups and creates a professional and inviting identity for your business.

Pros

Constant Contact is a very user friendly way of creating email blasts to clients and prospective clients or customers. They offer many templates that look professional and creative. They also allow you to customize their templates for a more unique look. The analytics of the email is very helping to decide and design future campaigns based on past ones. I like the ability to create customized lists in order to track and chose who I am marketing to.

Cons

It would be nice to have more options for templates based on industry and themes. Cost is also a factor as you get higher lists it starts to become prices for a small business who has simply been able to get a lot of opt ins. Customizing the template can be somewhat difficult for anyone who is not completely experienced at using them.

I've used Constant Contact over the years with great success and found that it is easy to use and allows for a lot of integrations with other systems and sites. The administration and setup of campaigns is easy to manage and allows you to assign less experienced users to action with the UI

Cons

The main negative I have found has been around the pricing model where I have found some of the competitors to offer a better alternative, especially for smaller lists.

Only wonderful and progressive years of work using this app.

Pros

I only have good things to say about Constant Contact. Maybe because I have used it for many years and it keeps improving. Application is user-friendly. As simple as drag and drop. If you need help on anything, they have the tutorials and rep who are always ready to help and teach you. The price is so reasonable and they also reward you for promoting the application by giving you credits. But to me, what got me sold is the insight features that helps you improve the way you do email marketing.

We needed a product that was easy to use that would allow us to stay in touch with our followers!

Pros

Constant Contact is pretty easy to use! You can use their customizable templates or build your own! Uploading logos, photos, etc is a breeze and you can store them for re-use later! Contact management within the system is easy too - you can do bulk uploads, create different send lists, etc. Once you've created and sent your email, you can even have it set to resend to folks who didn't open or engage with the first round to ensure you capture as much of an audience as possible.

Cons

It's important to save your work as you go. I have found it can time out or glitch from time to time, but if you save frequently you should be good!

Constant Contact is really good at staying off blacklists for spam and have hundreds of templates to choose from. If you are familiar with HTML you can still write your own. Will send thousands of emails without blinking.

Cons

Cost is the only negative, they are an industry leader and they know it so they charge for it. MailChimp is less expensive but not as feature rich. We still use Constant Contact.

We utilized Constant Contacts after the business went away from using MS Access. This opened up a whole new world for client and customer communications. When the organization adopted its new CRM, we were told by the CRM managers that CC was not compatable and that we would have to utilize another software to send out mass emails, but this also entailed us to import client/customer contact data into the other software before mailings were sent. The CRM system then updated and CC became the preferred software for email connection with the CRM data base. A CC tab was even located directly on the main CRM page as part of the CRM menu. Drafting and sending emails out without having to export any information and having the preselected group being pulled directly from the CRM into CC made emailing VERY easy and updating account information even easier.

Pros

Constant Contact is now directly integrated into the CRM system that is utilized by the business. Makes this extremely easy to generate mass emails to filtered groups as well as seemlessly update our "do not email" list of within the CRM. This is all done directly through CC back to our CRM without office staff having to manually indicate this within the CRM data base.

Cons

Using templated email formats for letters, flyers, etc.. is easy but putting together custom projects is a bit more labor extensive.

We actually switched from Constant Contact to MailChimp, but ended up going back to CC because we had more options than in MC. This is a nice product overall, easy to use, easy to customize and build emails, great grouping features, and the end result looks professional. We would recommend this product to anybody.

Pros

This program is easy to learn to use. We like that we can have multiple different groups of contacts, and that we can create a campaign and easily send it to multiple groups at the same time. The email campaign templates are simple and easy to use and result in a nice, clean looking email. We also love that this software works with DonorPerfect so that we can see which constituents have received specific emails within our donor management system as well. I called Support a couple of times and they were very friendly and I did not have to wait to talk to somebody.

Cons

I think this software looks a little outdated when compared to MailChimp. I think they could update the look of their site a little, just to make it more modern, and it would appeal to more users.

Pros

I think Constant Contact has made some amazing changes to their offerings over the years. They've kept their thumb on what's hot and what's not.

Cons

The editing piece of the email blasts can be a little temperamental, but nothing too terrible that can't be handled either.

This is almost a perfect piece of software. The big drawback is that the app isn’t great (which is almost forgivable). The worst part about the app (but not the only drawback) is that if you start an email on the app you can’t continue to work on it in a web browser. You have to pick one or the other. So if I’m waiting in line at the store I have to decide if it’s worth it to start my email using the app or should I just wait until I get back to my desk?

We have been using CC for 3 years now and have been please with the updates. Customer service is amazing and has always been able to help.

Pros

CC has upgraded the image Library to hold 1GB of images. This is far more practical then the number of images limit previously.
Simple interface and easy design choices

Cons

I find the price for smaller lists (amount of emails) overpriced.
Editing a scheduled post is a bit annoying, un schedule then edit, then reschedule. Editing while remaining scheduled would be nice.
