CONS

Their templates can appear a bit dated at times and adding fields can be a bit complex depending on what you're looking for, but overall it's a great tool

Wow

I hesitated to write this, fearing I would put the team behind GivingFuel in a tough spot. What I mean, is there is no way they can offer the same amount of amount of time attention they gave me to each one of their customers. I am in the military and was working to set up a non-profit that both accepts funds to directly support Soldiers and Airmen, and their communities. The first person I talked to at GivingFuel was co-founder Eric. He didn't seem at all interested in me buying his product. Instead he offered his expert advice on avenues I might pursue to succeed in my efforts; even offering advice on word usage and domain names I was working to refine. I thought it was a lucky break, talking to one of two co-founders, but that was before I learned that his entire staff is just as knowledgeable and passionate as him. I had to submit three bids from like products, and GivingFuel was so much cheaper, with such a more professional look that I'm not convinced they turn a profit. The staff I've worked with reinforced this suspicion. Whether through phone or message, they all have that same refreshing, non-profit, glowing type of attitude, the type that emanates only from people lucky enough to trade in the business of altruism. Ok, enough about the staff... Setting up is easy. You can start accepting donations in minutes, and the pre-designed templates are beautiful. Or, you can customize the crap out of your site! That's the route I went. I'm not very techy, but their online chat and phone customer service is amazing. They can see the page you are working on from their end, allowing them to walk you through anything you might be trying to do. I have several different pages for accepting donations. For example, the page for accepting the donations that will go directly to service members is different than the page accepting donations that will be used to fund community service projects, and IT'S THE SAME PRICE! You pay for your account, not the pages. You can have as many pages as you want. The funds are sorted for you in the analytics that come with the service. This was so important to my efforts because it allowed me to start the foundation with no budget. Because I knew I could put info, pics, and even video on my GivingFuel donation page, I was able to use my GivngFuel page to communicate our foundation efforts to potential donors, rather than waiting to start the foundation after I secured funds for a future informational page. Thanks GivingFuel!

Limited Functionality for Donation Management

It was good for a period of time as our organization stayed relatively small. As soon as we hired on a separate fundraising department, our needs outgrew the platform.

PROS

As a small nonprofit organization, we enjoyed the professional look of the donation pages and the ease of use to design them. Additionally, it was easy to view reports, donor contact information, and donation page insights. It is an affordable product if you are just looking for a clean, straight-forward donation page.

CONS

We were unenthusiastic about the lack of automation and communications features -- for year-end reporting in particular. We were not able to customize the year-end report and had to individually send the reports from an organization email. This has taken several days to complete each year. There is also no way to assign tasks or contacts to a portfolio lead. Communication functionality with donors is minimal. As the number of fundraising staff and activities grew, our needs rapidly outpaced what the product could offer.

Reasons for switching to GivingFuel

Needed more robust communications and donation management features.

My Two Cents About Giving Fuel

PROS

I like how manageable and easy to navigate it is.

CONS

I know everyone has to make a profit, but I hate that we do not get all of our donation. Some of it is given back to the site for a fee.

GivingFuel is great for fundraising

One of the most powerful tools I've seen, and the SMS function is off the charts great if that is core to your fundraising. For many it is not, and after the initial tools it's really the integrations that matter. I've found better solutions for several non profits who needed a CRM more than just fundraising. But if you need fundraising alone with integration into your systems, this is a great choice.

PROS

GivingFuel is an open platform that integrates with many tools you'll use, so the beauty of this API driven interface allows a flexibility beyond most platforms. As a non profit marketer and fundraiser, the landing pages it shares are powerful, responsive, and just look so good and are easy to use. The SMS value of this tool is also awesome, you get it instead of paying extra. The price is great and affordable, though if you integrate other tools they will cost you, but still in the end if you are tech savvy enough to integrate all these tools, you'll have a powerful platform.

CONS

It's only a fundraising tool, without a CRM, and I find that for most non profits these kinds of tools depends on the CRM the team is using to track donations, leads, and who is closing. The strength of integrations has also been a challenge for some non profits I help. I've steered several away because they could not juggle all the various integrations (even though it's usually a one time thing, you're still managing on multiple platforms ongoing) and the management of them. For teams that can, this is an awesome tool.
