About Tolgee

Tolgee is an open-source translation management software that integrates in less than one minute. It is the only tool businesses need to translate their web-based project into any language they wish. Simple in-context editing of strings in the app: With this feature, users can let anybody translate their app. They can use just alt+click the text in the App and boom. It's translated. Employees can see the result immediately with no editing of .jsons, or xliffs. It provides automated screenshot generation: The core reason behind all inaccurate translations is missing context.

Excellent Core Features

Overall good experience for the free tier Tolgee is providing for my usecase.

PROS

Easy of setting up translations for multi-languages and automatic machine translated texts.

CONS

Features specific to ARB extension and singular/plural translation is missing.

PROS

The easy to use multilanguage support and easy integration with next.js and SSR nextjs is amazing

CONS

The pricing was a bit too much, if someone wants a real app with multiple language support the limited free tier can be exceeded easily, and not everyone want to pay for localization when the app does not make any revenue

Room for improvement

PROS

I like the most that it integrates with many different solutions and frameworks, and that it's open source and can be self-hosted

CONS

Sometimes the UI feels laggy, and cumbersome

One stop shop for yll translation needs1

It's crafted with love, it has some "definition gaps" and uncovered edge cases but it's easy to find workarounds for all of them.

PROS

Their in browser integration makes it super easy to change texts and add translations. Period.

CONS

there is nothing to dislike tbh.What I would love though is to automatically translate all strings once a new language is selected. Its a bit tedious to go through each and every string to add the new translations. If this is possible I was not able to find the option. the in browser editing did not reliably work in "non-text" mode in my react/nextjs setup. When I switched to "text" all worked perfectly.
