Avg free is the best in the freeware industry. Avg Internet Security is no different and has more features like Firewall,anti-phishing etc. to keep one fully secure. It's detection rate is very good in all lab tests i have seen on the internet and believe it will improve exponentially after the acquisition by Avast. So if one is looking to buy an internet security software, Avg is one of the best choices.

Pros

Good detection rate. Many Bonus tools and subscription choice of unlimited computers is very attractive.

Cons

I don't like the new GUI.

I use this for our PCs at home and it's been good so far. It easily scans for viruses, malware, and will also clean up any registry files that might be taking up space on your computer. One of the hard drives were full and with the "space clean up function" I was able to delete over 30gbs of unwanted backups and software updates.

Pros

Easily to Use
Good Value
Visually Designed

Cons

None thus far

Advice to Others

The free-version is sufficient for you to try this out.

AVG is one of the few FREE AV products that I believe in. Their product is lite but powerful. It catches both local threats and also browser threats. I also use AVG on my Android phone to protect me from intrusions.

Pros

East and fast install. Always watches for threats and warns or cleans threats quickly. Browser threat detection is solid and reliable.

Cons

I'm not the biggest fan of their system tray popups and nag prompts, but can't complain for what you get.

Advice to Others

Nothing more to advise.

We've primarily used the free version of AVG, but I recently got to use the paid version as well. The system has a very easy-to-use dashboard which alerts you to useless files, and programs that are slowing down your computer. We use the free version throughout our office and haven't had any significant issues (knock on wood). That said, I really didn't notice a huge difference in speed or performance when we used the paid version, so I can't say it's completely worth the money. Haven't really used customer service either, so that rating doesn't mean much!

We have used AVG since there became a need for antivirus. The internet security product seems to give us a reasonable degree of security. Nothing can stop every threat. We have to be vigilant and take responsibility for our actions on the internet. That being said, this software makes it easier to keep our guard up. It runs along in the background, scanning emails, checking URLs and what ever else it does. When it tells you something, you better take notice. I have never had to use customer support so I can't rate that. I think that says a lot right there.
All in all very good software.

AVG does as good as a job as other firewalls out there. I like that it is constantly running in the background, without interfering with my computer's performance, and that it always updates automatically, staying current and new.

AVG antivirus used to dominate the free antivirus space until Avast and Avira came in to picture. However it's effectiveness has been slightly decreased and started to perform only mediocre in detecting malware. However the current UI is really simple to use and AVG offers enough modules to protect the computer. It includes parent filters, safe search for preventing malware from internet and a decent detection system based on heuristic methods. I would recommend normal users to go for it as the value you are getting for your hard earned money is matched.

Pros

Detecting almost all basic virus and spywares
Internet security offers all rounder security
Safe search for preventing malware from internet
Behaviour based detection
Easy interface to master
Fast updates and fast scan
It can work well with AVG tune up to keep PC at optimal performance.

Cons

No parent filter
Bit pricey I guess
Takes a bit time for full scan

Advice to Others

Use a parent filter separately. AVG doesn't include it.
