ESET Endpoint Antivirus Software

ESET Endpoint Antivirus combines defense against malware with a flexible remote management tool.

Antivirus and antispyware protections utilize ESET’s ThreatSense technology to defend against both known and emerging threats. Scanning and detection occur quickly with a minimum impact on systems, reducing disruption to users as they work.

ESET Endpoint Antivirus also features device control, which scans USB sticks, CDs, DVDs and other removable media for hidden threats. Administrators can configure the system to block unauthorized media from accessing the network, thus protecting against data loss.

ESET Endpoint Antivirus also comes with a highly scalable remote administration tool, which enables an administrator to manage the security of thousands of workstations from a single console. Accessible from any computer connected to the network, the remote administrator enables the individual managing company security to schedule or initiate scans, enforce policies and rules and manage configuration.

Founded in 1987, ESET is headquartered in Bratislava, Slovakia and has a network of partners in over 180 countries.

Pros

Very little noticeable effect on client performance (except during scans);
- Small client footprint (much better than Kaspersky, which we used prior to switching);
- Good price

Cons

- Workstations very slow during scans;
- License management is confusing;
- Support website, when it's working, is horrible. Confusing layout, ridiculously difficult to find what you need in any reasonable amount of time.

This is a very good product overall, with the ease of use in mind. I used this product's free version as a backup and to scan other computers, then I decided to get on for my own use and haven't been sorry. It has already found a virus that got past the other product I used. This is a great product

Pros

Powerful, good at sniffing out viruses that other products missed

Advice to Others

Try the free version first and see how good it is, then buy it. It's worth it.

Advice to Others

ESET includes several security features that make it a good solution for providing more internet security than antivirus protection alone.

Likes Best

I have never had an issue as long as I have had this on my computers. Large footprint makes it indestructible to hackers. For the money it is awesome and customer service is excellent to work with when you renew your subscription.

Likes Least

Nothing. Never had an issue. You won't be disappointed if you buy this product.

Recommendations

Don't be afraid to spend a little more because it will save you thousands in the end. Protect your investment of information, time, and resources.

It allowed me to get rid of software that I was using and deploy the new software at the same time.

Pros

Ease of deployment. Licensing made simple. Cost is very competitive. Support is always there when you need them.

Cons

It does kick back fasle positives at times. It can be difficult to put in additions to the white list.

I did use this for a few weeks, and it did do what it said it would. A few more features than a home user's version but works well. Very few false positives.

Using ESET 6.x with the centralized admin console and additional ESET proxy setup for worldwide distribution. Overall, the product has a lot of greate features (AV, HIPS, Firewall). However, the product is sorely lacking in two areas:

1. Central Consoel Management Policies - The way ESET pushes policies out to their clients is poorly designed. You don't just turn things on/off with a single policy. Highly annoying.

2. Firewall policy doesn't work. We are using the bult-in policy which does not allow inbound ICMP ECHO (ping). We added an inbound ping (ICMP ECHO) rule, I see it on the machines, but it still doesn't work.

ESET sets a standard for anti-virus and computer security. I highly recommend ESET to students who need anti-virus and I have heard several IT administrators from many different industry's praises it.
