We've been using Sage and the prior Simply Accounting for over 30 years, and I've found the software to be very seamless with our clients' needs as well as the ability to get support. The software is a good value for money. With the screens visualizing what an invoice would typically be viewed as, it is very easy for our clients as well as us to provide instructions for invoicing for our customers. The financial reporting is very robust, with strong internal reporting and the ability to link externally to spreadsheets. I like the desktop version how ever due to the cost being so high for something you no longer own I had to go down to the online version. By doing that though the platform isn’t the same as the desktop version so I’m not a fan of it. Example for adding inventory I could just punch in the number of the product from a supplier and it pops up which is different in the online version. It was also harder to transfer files from one program to the other , I couldn’t transfer customers and their invoices and the same went for suppliers . I find it a better program than quickbooks . Easy to enter and bill customers as well as entering suppliers and inventory. #### Cons I don’t like the fact that there is no longer a purchase version. When business is slow and you still need it to run the business they have a right to cut your business off when you miss a payment. It’s also harder to make the monthly payment if you miss one . I’m now linked to a strictly cheaper online service but I do not like the way it’s set up the same way as the desktop version, I actual hate it but need something. I would like to see everything under each vendor's or customer's account. I have to do a lot of digging and searching around to ensure we don't pay an invoice twice. I don't like that Sage allows to pay one-off payments without documenting it as a bill. If I look up an invoice or bill, it will not show. I would then have to look under payments to see if a bill was paid. It has evolved into Simply Accounting and then Sage Accounting. in the 80's and 90's we used to pay between $200.00 to $500.00 yearly and had more for our money then today, you even owned your license. Nowadays it has been converted to subscription type, charge our clients thousands of dollars. and if you cancel your subscription, you can no longer use the software, not even adjust all entries. These days our clients pay thousands of dollars without even owning their licenses. There must be still some other software that allow you to have control over your license. This is insight contemplating to seek other solutions. Shame that in 2026, technologically we may be advanced, however ethically I have my concerns. First of all, it is well organized and with minimal training you can use it.
