Function Point is a cloud-based solution for advertisement agencies that features project management, project accounting, team collaboration, data visualization and data analysis. The solution is suitable for agencies of all sizes.

Function Point’s project management feature enables managers to track upcoming tasks, create interactive Gantt charts and assign workflows to team members. It also allows team leaders to calculate quantitative metrics such as return on investment, and they can forecast budgets and pricing. The platform facilitates collaboration between team members, as it provides a single platform to communicate messages and share documents.

The solution’s analytics feature enables professionals to collect, clean, visualize and summarize data in real time. Function Point integrates with Quickbooks Online to provide accounting capabilities.

Function Point has amazing features with less than incredible interface

Sometimes we have issues syncing expenses with QuickBooks.

Pros

Everything that Function Point is designed to do is almost perfect. Works well, and is easy enough to use. Love both the functionality and integration with other software.

Cons

The user interface could be a bit less clunky. It looks and feels dated and busy. I'd rather the processes were more linear as opposed to having everything open with users able to click on any text box at any time.

Function point is incredibly good at consolidating your billable hour tracking, creative briefs, projects and more. Additionally, it allows you to have multiple team members working on the same project at once.

Cons

The only thing that I have found frustrating with function point is how easily the timer clears (you win this one, toggl). If you accidentally close the tab you were tracking time in, say bye-bye to your accurate number. This is easily solved by popping out the timer, but sometimes you just forget.

Function Point has helped to consolidate and digitize a lot of the things that would have been done either in physical, print form (such as recording time worked on each task), or in a less efficient way (such as creating estimates).

Pros

What I like most about Function Point is the ease of creating estimates and saving templates. It allows us to provide very in-depth estimates to clients and prospects, which we have received compliments on. Very rarely do I see estimates that are as detailed and clear as the ones that Function Point allows us to create with relative ease. Likewise, the simplicity of creating an Invoice from an existing Job also streamlines the process tremendously.

We also make extensive use of the Notes function to create easy-to-follow instructions for our artists to follow. The fact that these are then saved automatically with the Job and are easy to go back to and reference is very helpful. It makes organizing them and trying to keep track of them much less of a hassle.

Cons

One thing I don't like about the Function Point software is that, when a Job is "closed," any tasks that remain un-completed just sit on the Tasks/To Dos page on the homepage of FP. Sometimes we find that tasks we initially think will be required are not needed in the end. Once the Job is closed, I'd much prefer that the "left over" tasks automatically get marked in some way as to indicate that they were not completed, while still being removed from the Tasks/To Dos list.

My list is constantly cluttered by Tasks for Jobs that were finished weeks ago, but which I know nothing about because I was never required to actually complete that task. It ends up that someone has to manually close out every individual task that is not needed. Feels like a waste of time.

Pros

Briefs and templates are easy to use. Keeps everything organized. Can tag people into the document, pulls job/estimate information in easily

Cons

when someone comments on a note, it doesn't notify you
You can't attach a file from an email. you have to drag to desktop and then attach

I enjoy the ability to personalize the dashboard to what I find important to view. The multiple reports that can be run is handy also.

Cons

It would be ideal to have one more tier available above Projects for billing purposes. The compatibility with Microsoft 8 & 10 has not been easy. There were many adjustments that needed to be done on my end to be able to print reports. I still struggle with particular reports running correctly.

I have learned good organizational skills, and being able to run through different levels of interfaces in order to get my clients what they need.

Pros

I like how you can organize and sort IOs and invoices by client, amount paid, and date reconciled. Very organized and helpful

Cons

I don't like how you can't change the date on either an invoice or IO without loosing all of the formatting changes that were made

Works well for timesheets, I've never used the other functions, I only use it for timesheets so I don't fully understand everything the program does. Weekly view is nice and easy to use. Customizable work space is nice.

Cons

Difficult to search for jobs, overwhelming to learn in the beginning. All of the tabs and buttons are confusing, especially for a right brain person vs a left brain person.

Easy to navigate and retrieve and post information. Using this to enter jobs and track time has been a great help to improve productivity. Also has been a good way of tracking the jobs assigned to me that have been finished for long periods of time.

Cons

I can't delete a time in my timesheet when I entered the wrong job number. Do not have the option to change info from a previous week when I realize that I made a mistake, on the job service.

I like the way it is layed out throughout the platform, and how you can sort everything by Client, Vendor, price, or date

Cons

The features are extremely minimal. The worst part of the software is what is saved. Invoices are completely changed (formats and override prices) once the date changes on them. That makes no sense as dates need to change constantly, and FP doesn't save the changes that were already made

It is easy to use and I can track all my client work in one place.

Pros

That I can do a lot in one place. I use it to keep track of the time I spend on each client account, and what work I did for them. I also use it to expense things, and calculate how much the client needs to pay. Lastly, I use it to communicate with other team members and assign tasks.

Cons

I wish there was an easier way to plug in jobs to the timesheet. If when I clicked jobs, and it popped up the most frequently used, that would be helpful. Instead of searching by client name.

I like how easy it is to get started and to use. The software has a lot features and most of them are pretty easy to learn. I believe it makes managing an agency simple and easy.

Cons

There are a couple of things that I would like to see. When I tried integrating with QuickBooks I know it wasn't exactly perfect. Also, when you are using the arrow to sort things numerically or alphabetically the results are suspect.

I like the synchronization between the Task/To Dos list and the time entry. The Dashboard we have seems pretty straight forward.

Cons

The Tasks/To Dos list is challenging because I can't figure out a way to sort my many projects by the due date. I also have a problem with the Task list in the timer section. It only shows 200 projects and at any given time we have at least 300 or more happening at the same time. If I have had to work on a project to which I wasn't assigned, it's impossible to find it except if it's in the Task list. The "Find a Project in the "projects drop down is pretty useless .

I've used other, similar programs in the past, and FunctionPoint is by far the most comprehensive, while also being extremely easy to navigate. I find it to be pretty fool proof, so I'm never worried about messing something up.

Cons

I think the search functionality could stand to be a bit more user friendly. It usually takes me a few tries to find what I'm looking for if I don't have ALL the relevant information.

- wish there was an easier way to capture - from weekly time reports - the comments that people leave as to what they were working on specifically.

- why won't it keep me logged in for long? I feel like I'm signing in all the time.

Cons

not very responsive to be mobile friendly to tablet/notebook, one example: help icon covers scroll down and no way to turn off so this one item makes any screens with scroll down ( 80%) difficult to use. The app is only for timesheet which is good for staff, but not much for management.

Cons

What I like least is the redundancy it feels like when creating a job. Once I've created an estimate, adding a job seems redundant, and I almost want to go straight to adding a task.

Cons

Can seem confusing. I think formal training from the get go would have helped. Trying to create a task schedule was difficult.
