Provides requirement traceability and also versioning. The functionality to apply filters has been implemented better than most of its competitors in the market. #### Cons The text editor can be a little difficult for a first time user and can be made more intuitive. I have been using Jama for over one and half years. The good thing about JAMA is all the requirements are systematically placed in JAMA. Its search option is good. By typing any keyword, all the related requirements get listed below. 2. I liked the requirement review facility in Jama. All the comments are well preserved. By going through them, I can ensure whether any comments are still open. It helps in tracking the closure of all questions/comments raised during requirement review. 3. Notification service of JAMA is quite good #### Cons 1. I felt that loading and navigation of Jama needs to be improved. Sometimes the delay is quite noticeable. 2. Though the homepage contains all important information, little improvement in look and feel of GUI can make it more attractive. 3. There should be auto login in Jama using windows login password like other software I use. No incentive was offered Not intuitive. It encourages the user to export requirements to spreadsheets for analysis, since formatting trace views is limited to columns and requirements with long text get cut-off. There is no what to view more than two levels simultaneously. I have found that it is easier to export to csv files, and then to run a python script that I wrote to reformat and write a file that can easily be formatted and viewed in Excel. From my current experience with the tool over the last 5 months, I don't trust it to manage requirements and traceability over baselines. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 3/5 - Value for money: 1/5 - Customer support: 3/5 - Functionality: 2/5 #### Pros + It uses a tree and list format for accessing requirements and baselines. + It has an API to extend to other tools. #### Cons - Coming on to a large program with Digital Thread needs, I was not impressed by the lack of connectivity to other tools. - When deleting a requirement, it deletes it from previous baselines. - The object limit is not large enough for very large projects. - When reviewing requirements in a Jama review, the screen scrolls back up to the first requirement in the pane after checking the requirement reviewed button. - Trace views don't show all of the requirement text, which requires users to export the data to analyze the requirement trace. - Documentation is management glossy level and lacking details. - The application becomes slow, when the project is very large. #### Vendor response Thank you for your feedback. They also added e-signatures for approvers which has been key in baselining requirements. #### Cons Its hard to separate admin access from create access, though recently Jama implemented changes to admin usage and its helped. The major selling point was the ability to store and create your own field level data and we have taken advantage of that in spades. This alone has saved us hundreds to thousands of dollars. The level of customization provided by this software is far beyond anything we have seen. We use it on a daily basis and we are not moving away from this software. It helps drive us to our mission of "Excellence" in IT.
