Simple to use and cost effective
the best backup solution we have purchased
PROSThe solution was quick to install, dead simple to use and we had our first backups being run within 20minutes of downloading the trial
CONSNothing comes to mind, nakivo fits our requirements perfectly
Reason for choosing NAKIVO Backup & Replication
cost and simplicity of install and setup
Reasons for switching to NAKIVO Backup & Replication
previous solutions were slow and complex, cost played a little part but the simplicity of the Nakivo UI teamed with very good pricing made the decision so easy to just switch.

Not Rolls Royce but probably Mercedes...
Cheaper than Veeam, better than some other options. The proof is in the recovery! It's more focussed on VMWare than Hyper-V but support for Hyper-V is acceptable. Just be sure you are familiar with the features that are and are not supported for the platform you wish to protect before proceeding. The licensing is quite flexible too, with perpetual and subscription licenses. The cost comparison between licensing the CPU sockets in a hypervisor vs the annual subscription to protect the virtual machines is one part of how you'd decide which type to choose. Support is mostly responsive and at least half my questions are answered accurately in the first or second interaction. When issues are escalated to higher tiers it takes a little longer, but I have had success with remote sessions and VoIP calls with their engineers who are refreshingly knowledgeable on the various operating systems I've had their product installed on, and were more than willing to go beyond their minimum scope of supporting only the Nakivo product.
PROSEasy to set up and get running. Flexible deployment, with the full solution (i.e. the "brain") running directly on supported NAS hardware, Linux OS, physical or virtual machines. Getting help is as easy as clicking "Request Support" on an error message in the WebUI. A support bundle is created and sent to Nakivo and you very quickly receive an email with a case number, followed by responses from real people.
CONSBetter error messages would be nice - they don't always make sense. The "brain", which is the Director component, can only exist in one place in a distributed deployment with different locations. This means that a remote site will not back up if there is a connectivity issue between sites and the Director cannot see the transporter and repositories at the remote site.
Reason for choosing NAKIVO Backup & Replication
It has much of the functionality of Veeam but at a much lower cost.
Reasons for switching to NAKIVO Backup & Replication
Syncrify only does file-level copy with version control and encryption. Bare metal backups are supported but this is done by leveraging Windows Server Backup writing to local storage on the server being protected and then transferring the full file (initially) or deltas (on subsequent runs) to the backup server, whether on-site or remote (and we used remote). Bare metal did not work well.

not great, not terrible
Possibility of backing up all our platfroms is plus for me.
CONSAny update is pain. There is huge chance that software update wont end well and you have to contact support to help you with remediation. Support is also not best i saw out there.

Great alternative to 'big name' providers
We were paying for an onsite server, an offsite physical server and software/support from unitrends. This product gave us the capability to reuse the onsite server, backup to Wasabi for a fraction of the cost. My experience over the last 12 months with Nakivo has been excellent.
PROSThe price was very favourable. There was a perpetual licence option and then we just pay a yearly support cost which includes updates.
CONSNone. It does everything we need seamlessly
Reason for choosing NAKIVO Backup & Replication
The price offered was much cheaper than we were paying. We could utilise current servers and then gave us the option to backup offsite.
Reasons for switching to NAKIVO Backup & Replication
The unitrends solution, including support and a physical offsite backup was very costly.
