Reason for choosing IDrive
Better value for the amount of storage I required.

iDrive - it's worth the time
iDrive checks all the boxes to having an online backup solution. Even though the initial backup could take considerably longer than expected, the future incremental backups and affordability are worthwhile.
PROSiDrive is a great choice when considering an affordable and reliable backup solution in the cloud.
CONSThe initial upload for a large amount of data 3TB+ could take multiple days depending on your location.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
I switched from OneDrive because I need a backup solution and not immediate and fast cloud access. Although iDrive can be used in a way OneDrive is designed, the affordability of iDrive and using it strictly as a backup solution fit my needs perfectly.

Quantity > Quality
The amount of storage you get for the cost is unparalleled, and ultimately the reason I went with iDrive. You cannot get an equivalent amount of storage for cheaper.
CONSThe UI/UX is lacking. I solely use this as cloud storage to store photo/video during extended travels, which it works well for. But the actual interface is extremely dated. Having better media preview options would be nice.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
The cost per GB is significantly lower with iDrive, allowing me to store more on the go.

Horrible. I have a 1.5 terabyte computer and its been backing up 8 days and its still not done. Ive tried turning it off and starting over, pausing, restarting my computer but it just wont speed up. This software is beyond rediculous. 8 days and its still not backed up. 1.5 terabytes is not that much to back up. No way Im renewing.
PROSsetup and price and reviews from trusted person
CONSIt is so slow its ridiculous. Who wants to wait over a week to backup and its still not done.

So far very positive. Improvement on other options I have tried.
PROSOnly jut getting started with iDrive. Set up was easy and adding devices similarly so. Really like that I can schedule and pause back ups. Other cloud back up software was not this flexible and would consumer processor and memory when I needed them for other tasks.
CONSTrying to tell yet if it can back up connected drives?

Learning to use IDrive
So far, it seems to be working well. I like having the log so I can see if it works or not. I am really only having it back up what I change rather than everything every day. After having been annoyed by their unwillingness to let me get the 10TB plan for the promotional price on the same day that I signed up for the 5TB plan. I ended up not cancelling and decided to go ahead and try it, figuring I could cancel at the end of the year. I DO want to have a good data backup in place, and this program is highly recommended. So I am now using it and will re-evaluate as I learn more about it and use it in the coming months.
PROSI liked that IDrive was one of the most widely recommended backup solutions I researched. Having just lost the SSD on my computer and not having a backup, I knew I needed this type of service.
CONSI am still learning about how to set things up and make sure it does what I need it to do. There is a bit of a learning curve, but I think over time it will be easy to use. The only negative is that on the day I signed up, I realized that I needed the 10TB plan rather than the 5TB plan. Unfortunately the company would not allow me to get the 10TB plan for the promotional price - I was going to have to pay full price for it. Unless I completely cancelled out of my plan and then re-signed up with a different account. That was too much of a hassle so I decided to at least give it a try. I think their customer service could be better, and they could have easily given me the larger plan for the promotional price as I had just signed up that day.

iDrive is the best value!
I'm a digital artist and it's essential that I use an online backup for my work, as I'd lose everything if my backup failed, was somehow destroyed, etc. I had been paying $30 a month to backup two computers for years when I discovered iDrive! My other service had constant inexplicable failures and I was always troubleshooting issues. iDrive is MUCH cheaper, more efficient, you can backup unlimited computers, and all I did was select what drives on my computers I needed to backup and it was all completed and updated without issue. I wish I had this years ago! I highly recommend it for anyone that needs to ensure safe backups and doesn't want to waste time problem solving or waste money.
PROSEfficient, ease of use, folders backed up immediately with no problems, MUCH cheaper than previous service used, larger storage capacity, unlimited computers, automatically backs up
CONSNothing so far, it's worked exactly as expected with no problems for a fraction of what I was paying before.

It works correctly
IDrive offers an affordable and secure backup system, featuring military-grade AES 256-bit encryption and the option for a private encryption key. The ability to back up an unlimited number of devices on a single account, coupled with the flexibility to create unique folders for each device, is a significant advantage. These features make IDrive particularly well-suited for businesses that require robust data protection and customization options.
CONSSo far everything has worked properly. For large capacity backups the price is a bit expensive.

Inexpensive storage with great basic functionality
Pretty good. Upload speeds are limited by my bandwidth and I would definitely use the mail-in Express service if the UK shipping charges were more reasonable, or they had a UK-based upload service. Backups have worked as expected and I hope never to have to use the recovery service for anything other than testing purposes.
PROSThe cost per terabyte is commendably low and was the initial reason I tested iDrive. All the basic functionality was available in the desktop app that I needed - scheduled backups of internal and external media. Initial testing showed that everything worked pretty much as expected 'out of the box' and that backups could be easily restored. I was sufficiently impressed to purchase the software. I've used it to backup about half a terabyte of data so far, with more to be uploaded. Scheduled backups run as expected, or as soon as the machine is turned on. They also run if the machine is sleeping - waking, backing up and sleeping again. During the testing phase I contacted customer support with a relatively trivial query (see comment below re timestamps) and got a prompt answer - that was reassuring.
CONSAll timings by the software use PST (Pacific Standard Time) and a US format timestamp. I'm on the other side of the world and it seems nonsensical for me to schedule a 9 am backup on the 10th of November (10/11/22) to find that the system records it as being made at 3 am on 11/10/22. If backups are daily and no more frequent this shouldn't be an issue, but it could well cause problems (or at least confusion) if backups were more frequent.I would like to see more granularity in the backup scheduling. For example - to set weekly backups for one external drive and daily backups for another. My understanding from the FAQ and help files, together with practical use of the system, is that all network/external drives are handled as a single backup set. The only way to omit one would be to leave it unplugged. In the same way, all local files/folders are handled as a single backup set, again with no granularity. The advantage of this approach is simplicity, the disadvantage is a lack of flexibility. For peace of mind, simplicity is better ... but I'd still like the option of more granularity.
Reason for choosing IDrive
Price and functions. Dropbox has too many and costs too much. Backblaze offers unlimited storage but cost more. I don't have unlimited data and the rate-limiting step was always going to be the upload speeds.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
I've used Dropbox for many years for my research team, with a 10 Tb business account and a 2 Tb personal account. The software was getting less and less easy to use as additional (and - to me - unwanted) functions were added and the desktop client was intrusive and a memory hog. The cost of the storage was also high. With an educational discount I'm paying about one third what I was paying for Dropbox.

Easy to use, Peace of Mind
I’m using iDrive to backup my NAS and Mac to the cloud as a means of disaster recovery. It’s working as well as I could have hoped for.
PROSThe ease of integration with my Synology NAS made it much easier to backup my critical file stores.
CONSThere’s nothing that I would change about it, honestly!
Reason for choosing IDrive
Overall cost, ease of integration with Synology and Macs.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
Restoration from Backblaze Personal is a much more involved process and can cost quite a bit and take a while if you restore over the cloud. They will send a hard drive, but this approach breaks down with large data recoveries. iDrive’s cloud services are more competitive.

Actually way better then expected !
The only thing I didn't test so far is their support. And this is because of a very good reason : Everything works like a charm for me ! For the rest I manage to setup my workflow about backup and other things very smoothly thanks to their clear documentation.
PROSI've reach a point were I couldn't store data anymore with Google One, unless paying way too much for my situation. I've found a very cheap deal to test iDrive, and I have to admit that not only it does all the things I wanted, but I've discovered that it allows me to setup and do much more than that actually ! I'm located in Europe (Belgium), and the transfer speed is really for for me.
CONSI can't find anything so far that I don't like about it...
Reason for choosing IDrive
The offer for the price was way better than any other one. And since there is a possibility to pay a very little amount the first year if we switch from another product, I took a chance on it. No regrets at all !
Reasons for switching to IDrive
I needed more space for my backup. With iDrive I have 2.5 times more space for a cheaper price. By paying the same amount than Google, I would have 5 times more space (and more features too...)

Easy to use cloud backup solution with affordable price
Finally I don't have to worry about private files in case of HW failures.
PROSI use IDrive for personal use. I purchased it around BlackFriday with nice promo price for 10TB storage for 1 year.It has the best and the most user friendly Windows client application which allows to setup backup/restore files, to schedule backup tasks, it supports incremental backups, offers definition of folders which will be automatically synced with cloud storage and also to perform complete computer backup in cloud (this one I didn't try so far). There are also some backup features which I don't need but small businesses might benefit for:MS SQL Sever,MS Exchange Server, Exchange Brick level (Individual mailbox backup),MS Sharepoint Sever,System State (boot file, registry, active directory, system volume, ...)Hyper-VVMware (ESXi, VMs)Microsoft 365 (mailbox data)Cloud drive functionality additionally allows sharing files with other people if needed.
CONSHuge price increase after 1 year promo price period expires. Hopefully, there will be some promotions before expiry which will allow existing users to prolong subscription under better price.I like to fly with my drone and record videos. Beware that there is a huge problem with IDrive related to file size limit. If you need to share files bigger that 2GB, unfortunately IDrive won't be a solution for you unless you prepare your files by splitting them into smaller ones.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
Excellent upload speed, more storage space for less money (considering promotion price).

Good for back up not good for a quick retrieval
My overall experience is mixed. I believe a iDrive does very good with seamless back up. I believe they manage the portions very well. I believe it’s easy to select what you want to back up. The encryption is very good. The seamless ease-of-use is very good. The technical support is pretty good. Like I said one guy was a little patronizing. However, I believe that was the only problem with customer service. I do think their customer service is very good in their sales were very good. Also the price is out of this world stellar.
PROSWeather like most about idrive was, it was truly plug-and-play simple to back things up. It was also very easy to manage the user interface and the customer support was top notch.
CONSiDrive took 72 hours to download a 650 GB file and still after 72 hours it was only 71% complete. I ran a random junk Internet test to verify with a different service and it downloaded 275 GB in three hours on my connection I was on the phone with customer service three separate times and they told me everything should be working correctly and they seemed a little patronizing.
Reason for choosing IDrive
Are you chose iDrive for the price? However, I have sent switched to sync.com due to the issues with restoring items.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
Icedrive was very good however, they kept causing me to have mirrors and it was not down loading properly

More peace of mind and simplicity over Google Photos
Great! It's exactly what I was looking for.
PROSWith Google Photos I couldn't find my photos because there was no proper filing system and little customization. IDrive is a simple folder system like Windows. Google would compress my photos even when I told them not to. I drive doesn't compress. Google would offer tons of free storage then take it away forcing you to pay. Google would delete tons of my photos and other things without permission or warning. For all these reasons and more IDrive Is a better option that provides more peace of mind.
CONSThere is always room for improvement and refinement but it's more important not to overcomplicate the program. Don't make any changes that will fundamentally change IDrive from what I originally signed up for. I want to pay for it and forget about it. I don't want the program to become something I have to maintain.
Reason for choosing IDrive
Straight forward, up front, versatile, reasonably priced. The company seemed legit and the reviews were good.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
I couldn't control what Google would decide to delete, whether it would compress my images, or whether they would reduce my storage allotment. Specific photos are hard to find in Google. IDrive is simple and efficient like Windows file system.

Easy cloud backup for personal or small business use
IDrive is an economical way to provide cloud backup as a "last resort" back up against ransomeware attacks. For my use and the use of my clients, it is easy to install, easy to use, and provides a free means of seeding large back ups. I did need to use it on a Linux (Ubuntu) system. I am learning Linux and found that using their Linux option required a fair amount of research to get it working. However, once I had installed all the requisite free software to make it work, I discovered that the online interface was easy to use.
PROSOne account could back up data from multiple computers. The price was lower because this solution did not include extra services that, in this instance, were extraneous to my and my clients needs.
CONSIdrive states that it is compatible with Linux. It is, however, there is no program to install, only a series of Perl scripts. I am not super familiar with Linux and it took a couple hours and research to get this functionality working. Once that investment was complete, it worked very well fron the web interface.
Reason for choosing IDrive
In this case, neither myself nor my clients required cloud file storage. Many of the business solutions were essentially cloud storage. My clients are small businesses without the need of cloud file storage...and who wouldn't know how to use it.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
I was using Syncrify over a software VPN and there was concern that ransomeware could potentially cross the VPN and create problems with the backup

Dropbox was too expensive for the low amount of space you receive
So far so good it has the same features as dropbox with over double the space with the smallest plan and it’s half the price.
PROSI liked the fact it was easy to get and the deal they offered on the first year. Dropbox does not let you know when they are going to pull money out of your account to pay the yearly fee. I was very upset with this. They used to do that, but they stopped two years ago and you only get 2 TB of space.
CONSThe only thing I did not care for is the fact that when I attempted to purchase the upgrade, I accidentally punched in the wrong security code, and it still charged my credit card. But the charge was reversed the next morning.
Reason for choosing IDrive
Mainly the price and the size of storage space

Backup software is poor compared with other options
I suspect the downsides are a case of 'you get what you pay for', but as long as my data is reliably stored somewhere, it's hard to complain too much about everyday use. If other options are comparable in price upon next renewal, I would almost certainly switch away for the benefit of better backup software, even though it means having to re-upload everything again.
PROSThe price is good, based on an introductory special offer.
CONSThe software - particularly for the initial backup, when a lot of data will be transferred - is poor: - there's no threading available and limited throttling options, and the impact on performance was significant even on a high-spec machine - the 'time left' for backup of a large amount of data always sits at just under 23 hours (it doesn't seem to go over 24h) - there is no feature to prevent the computer from sleeping while backup takes place - there is no auto-resume upon restart, only a message that the backup has failed, and then a wait until the next scheduled backup unless you manually resume

Other options have become prohibitively expensive for personal use.

iDrive is Everything I'm Looking For and More
As for iDrive itself, I never had problems about reliability. It was just recently when I had issues logging in and had unnecessary back and forth with customer support. However, as for Drive itself, it comes highly recommended and I strongly vouch for it. It works as described and your backups are guaranteed safe. I just hope they fix their customer support response times and I hope I get better answers next time. That's my only qualms about this product. However, Customer Support is a vital aspect of any business so they should do something to address it (based on my experiences).
PROSThe most important factor for me is reliability and security and iDrive excels in both. I never had major issues using it as it is the set-and-forget kind of tool. Additionally, my Synology NAS has a native application for it so that I'm able to backup NAS data securely and without any fuss. It's as easy as it gets.
CONSI never had problems with it until recently I had to send emails to customer support because of two issues. First, there had been issues with upload speed. Secondly, I'm having problems with my account being inaccessible on my NAS but otherwise works when outside of it (my NAS device). I've reported it to customer support but I had to do 2nd or even a 3rd follow up just to get a reply. I never had issues before so I didn't really know the customer support response time. And when I got a reply, it was confusing and I had to explain again. It was disappointing to be honest. So I just stopped. I just noticed that my account was suddenly accessible again and my backup jobs have been reset. I don't know what happened but definitely they did something on their end. However, just minutes prior to doing this review, I checked and I don't have access again on one of my NAS devices. But I'm able to log in on the other NAS and on my browsers on my other devices. I will send an email to CS to ask what's happening.
Reason for choosing IDrive
iDrive is cheap compared to the others but iDrive can do the same and even more.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
First and foremost, iDrive has NAS support and that's a very big factor. Other tools only have desktop versions and I cannot use that for continuous backups when my computer is not in use.

Simple, reliable, effective, and non-intrusive
Ever since i purchased my Mac Airbook, I have had to keep all my important source code on an external drive because there is not enough room on the main drive. Seeing that external drive just lying out there on the desk next to my workstation, it has always concerned me about what would happen if that drive died. I have most of my source on versioning systems, but not all, and not useful tools and items like that. Since I put iDrive in and have it backing that drive up, I have had zero worries. Now I know my whole system can be nuked out of existence, and I wont lose a thing. That is peace of mind.
PROSIdrive covers alot of bases for me. I can select individual folders as well as external drives for backups. I can do schedules that just work in the background. Doesnt have any spinners or windows or anything that says "Hey look at me! Im doing something.". It just quietly works in the background, however it is nice to see the once a day message saying, "All done!" and that gives me peace of mind. To top it all off, they provide a cloud sync'd folder so any one off files and special case scenarios I run up against, I can just use that drive and it just works. IDrive cares about performance too. Unlike Google Drive, it does not max out my processor when it is working. In fact, it knows when I am working and will reduce its usage so not to bother me, but when I am away, it will take advantage of that and speed up the backups so it can finish as soon as it can. Very smart.
CONSLogs could use some help. The log summary list could use a little more detail. It would be nice if the log details were presented in a data grid format so sorting and grouping could be done so you can do things like look at all the Errors together without having to pick them out through all the other messages. At least provide the log in an XLS format so Excel can handle it.
Reason for choosing IDrive
Most important factor was that iDrive just worked! Plain and simple, it just installed and worked for all the reasons I mentioned above. The cost of the plan was also in my budget.
