Top FTP solution on the market

I can now handle projects on both my local PC and the distant server with ease. I'm also capable of maintaining appropriate synchronization between the two platforms. The fast connect bar on the top of the FileZilla program eliminates the trouble of remembering and inputting the password every time. If there is any other job going on at the same time, I may adjust the transfer speed limitations to my satisfaction. This file transfer program is suggested for all users for moving data from one location to another, whether it's your local computer or a remote server. Very handy if your file has been updated and you need to sync it with the cloud or a distant server in real-time. It is quite popular since it is free of charge.

PROS

Filezilla's ability to be a full-featured file management program appeals to me. It has been intended to be used to move files via FTP or SFTP, for example, for web hosting. I found more practical usages than the company could realize for this software. I like to use it not only to handle FTP transactions but I can really see hidden files on my machines without going to my settings or input a certain key combination. I also want to be able to delete files that I wouldn't be able to delete permanently through Filezilla. On my Mac, I can actually delete the file and then go to the garbage basket, without having to send it to the trash bin. I may really erase it from the local file page of the window from the whole device. The second wonderful thing about Filezilla and the deletion of files is that: I recently was banned from accessing my OneDrive, which lets you to maintain a local cloud file shortcut. I could not even remove the files by being banned. I could truly remove files and directories permanently with Filezilla. This program must be installed on any machine (and I have 3). I also love that the search file on Filezilla is one thousand thousand times faster.

CONS

FileZilla's least able to help in is its data transmission speeds. 2 Mbps is the maximum upload rate. This means that I can receive and upload a dedicated 40Mbps bandwidth connection. Sometimes this is not suitable for massive data transfer, since it takes a lot of time.

Free cross platform FTP software with drag and drop interface

I use Filezilla for developing websites as I copy files over to staging areas on the remote site. I find it easy to use for this purpose as it has a drag and drop interface. I can easily see which files I need to copy by ordering them by date and time.

PROS

It is free, but then so are some alternatives e.g. Cyberduck It automatically tells you when there are updates and it is easy to install the latest version I appreciated how it warns you if the destination server is insecure I can view and edit files on the remote site in my favorite editor I liked the drag and drop interface

CONS

The first time I installed it, I didn't realize I should have checked a box to prevent bundled offers from being installed. It does warn you and advises you to check the box, but I found it easy to overlook. It took me a while to get rid of the junk software, scan my computer for potential threats and carry on. There was no ability to synchronize folders so changes are automatically copied over.

Reason for choosing FileZilla

I preferred the interface compared to Cyberduck and I know quite a lot of people who use FileZilla who I could potentially turn to if I have a problem.

A decent, if antiquated, FTP app

Overall, we were not happy with using FileZilla and found ourselves constantly searching the Free FTP app space and trying other products on a regular basis. We tried CyberDuck, and others.. but ultimately landed on Transmit FTP and haven't looked back

PROS

FileZilla is a well known name in the FTP app space. It offers solid performance and it's free, with multiple versions for different operating systems.

CONS

The UI it very dated and the feature set is lacking when compared to paid rivals. You have to pay for the manual if you want all the docs! The pro version, which adds nearly as many connection methods as Transmit 5, costs $20 but lacks in most areas compared to full fledged pro FTP apps.

FileZilla saves the day repeatedly

It's a heaven send, often I wasted time trying to get an SMB windows share connect working before I realized FileZilla could fit the bill nicely.

PROS

When I need to share files between computers running different OSes; e.g. Windows and Linux; FileZilla Server works where the alternatives all fail. For example, recently working on a Linux system where we build the kernel , smbclient didn't work due to the non-standard kernel build. The answer was running FileZilla Server on the Windows system; then just enter the Windows system sftp url into the Linux file explorer and I can drag and drop files between the two systems.

CONS

FileZilla is free, so for customer support you must be adept at searching to find some of the best tricks to get the most out of it.

Reason for choosing FileZilla

I was confident FileZilla was superior to any alternatives available; It's always had great reviews.

Reasons for switching to FileZilla

Getting SMB Windows Shares to work is a moving target; does the server only support SMB2 but the client only supports SMB1; There's a litany of esoteric settings which can be an immovable road block.

FileZilla never fails me and I would recommend it any day :)

Easy to use, free or at a reasonable price if you are using the subscription, FileZilla works and its features are on point with my needs. All I can say is "Thanks!" to the developers.

PROS

Love the FileManager which reminds me of this old-school app FileCommander! The file manager helps you easily locate where you want something downloaded, provides easy access as well! The pause/stop feature is just awesome + it looks to me like if for any reason the receiving server stops the connection file transfer can later be attempted to be resumed from where it stopped instead of starting all over again - very useful in my experience! The ability to directly edit a file through local editor. Sometimes this is exactly what I need and it has never failed me! It's open-source! :)

CONS

Not much really.. maybe not too sure how it handles transferred data safety.

Reasons for switching to FileZilla

Previous SFTP client used to fail, lose data during transfers and not provide adequate failure handling which were all unacceptable when it comes to my profession.

An annoying FTP control panel

My experience with Filezilla is not good, because the software didn't represent itself as helpful software. Not matched with my requirement.

PROS

Have used Filezilla so many times but this software didn't make me happy with its functionality and features. Logged in for the file access is a nightmare. But yes, it gives a strong file management option that I like.

CONS

The UI UX is poor, all functionality is not strong, not comfortable to use and the whole Filezilla looks messy!

Reasons for switching to FileZilla

FileZilla wasn't able to fulfil my requirements, so I switched to WinSCP.

FileZilla- the only software you need for transferring files to your server

It has been a very easy to use system. The learning curve is very low, and the system almost always works flawlessly. Once in a while there is a connectivity slow-down, but I would blame the server or the ISP rather than FileZilla, but I cannot pinpoint it exactly and it is a very minor inconvenience when it occurs.

PROS

FileZilla is an extremely efficient system used to connect your local computer to a server, easily, quickly and securely.

CONS

I've been using it for over a decade, and it works great. In today's modern AI world, I would like to see FileZilla automatically upload files that I am working on throughout the day, but doing it manually is fine.

Reason for choosing FileZilla

I tried CuteFTP years ago, but was not impressed with it and found it unreliable. For over a decade I have trusted FileZilla for all of our company file transfer needs.

An FTP program that does what it is meant to do

I've used this Filezilla since release (about 20 years ago). It's come with me everywhere and is an integral part of my day-to-day operations. It's always done exactly what i need it to do and is the best way to queue large file transfers.

PROS

This program is easy to fire up and connect to a server. Depending on your needs, there are some quick-connect options and more advanced connection options. You can open files directly from a server with your text editor of choice and make changes that are uploaded when you save. Overall, it's nice simple FTP program.

CONS

There is a lack of Mac OS support is disappointing.

Reason for choosing FileZilla

I have tried WinSCP and CuteFTP and, while they do have their purposes (the former is nice for SSH connections and the latter works on Mac OS), but I've always stuck with FileZilla

Great tool for SFTP

We use FileZilla to connect to our local Servers secure locations, Remote servers location, Clients Shared location and our quarterly managed cloud locations to process our integral part of the work. FileZilla made it easier for us to manage multiple locations and update, upload and download the contents from various work spaces.

PROS

FileZilla is fast, reliable and great in connectivity with servers, locations and folders over different ports and protocols. I found Filezilla to very useful part of our organization in managing the contents from different locations, servers and Clients connectivity.

CONS

I have seen Filezilla updating too frequently due to which we have to push the updates more often. Not much backdraw of the software overall.

FileZilla for FTP file management

We have been using FileZilla for probably over 15 years, it is the only FTP program we ever used as it is very simple to use even for beginners, it's easy to setup, very reliable and compatible with host servers and frequently updated by the developers. We never even considered any other app for FTP file management

PROS

It's easy to use, easy to setup, it's frequently updated with new features and security options and it's a free app

Easy uploading interface

FileZilla has been my go-to file uploading software for over ten years -- it's become my old-and-crotchety "I don't want to change" connection software. The site manager is easy to use, server data and logins are easy to store, and the GUI is easy to navigate. Dragging files from the windows File Explorer to the open server is especially helpful. The progress bars of each in-progress transfer are visible and clear, and you can change priorities of each upload easily enough. You can have multiple connections open in multiple tabs, and you even get the red carpet service of being asked if your new connection should replace the current tab, or form its own. Occasionally, it hiccups. The hiccups aren't always FileZilla's fault -- sometimes it tries to spam-connect by default when it can't get through the door. Other times the buttons seem to stop working entirely, forcing me to "turn it off and turn it back on again." Simple enough solve, though. Overall, highly recommended for those who want an easy, graphical way to connect to servers.

PROS

-Easy to connect and upload files -Supports both SFTP and SSH -automatically detects changes in open files from the server and offers to re-upload them

CONS

-Sometimes buttons stop working, requires closing and re-opening to fix

Great tool to tranfer file between different OS

I am using this tool for the past 7 years. As a developer, I have to deploy my changes into server continusly. Filezilla helps to transfer files into linux server with lighting speed. We can change the linux file mode using this tool. Connecting a server is a simple option. "Quickconnect' option is a great option, where we can connect server with stored server detail. Navigating server directories , Creating new directories options are simply supper. I will recommend this to my firends.

PROS

Very Easy to install and configure. Configure and connecting to server is very simple. Setting part will help us to setup display option.

CONS

Installing the client side app is bit critical. We dont have web option. Instead we have install locally.

The "go to" FTP client on Mac

PROS

It's an excellent FTP app that has been around for a long time, and it shows through all the features that are available. Updates are frequent, and always appear to improve stability and add new features to stay up to date. It's easy to set up a new connection, and to have lots of different connections open in the tabbed interface.

CONS

There are quite a bewildering amount of options available now. It can be cumbersome to right click to view/edit files rather than double click, which downloads the file.
