We use this software on a daily bases ensuring operations run smoothly
Overall our experience is very good. It's rare that the software would go down and customer service reps are super helpful and informative.
PROSGPS and route tracking are accurate at all times.
CONSWhen it comes to geo-graphing/geo-fencing, there aren't very clear instructions on how to use those features and reasons for use/benefits.
Reason for choosing CalAmp
More cost effective and reliable software with many hidden features that video trailers should be released showing clear instructions and proper use of the features provided.

Sucks I should dump your service and get on the works!
PROSThe ability to intargrate with our software system so we have everything on one screen. We can see when cars arrive and leave each Job.
CONSYour support and sales department (if you have one)

At the time 5+ years ago (the company that you bought out) could upload stops to Garmin units giving our drivers turn by turn directions. Also connected out our Customer Service sofware.

Best GPS tracker management platform
The ability to update firmwares and config using batch updates and having realtime information about update progress is great!
CONSMigration from PULS is cumbersome. It should have been transparent to the user, you should have made it a drop-in replacement process.

CalAmp - There is no better product on the market for pure GPS Tracking
If you need efficient and reliable GPS, there is no other. The ability for custom scripting, while time consuming to master, gives you absolute control of your units and allows you to weigh power management vs live communicating, reboot frequency, messages sent, etc.
PROSThe ability of scripting and allowing you to control all aspects of the software from Sleeping to Tracking Intervals allows you to create a near perfect product.
CONSWith the ability of scripting comes complexity. There was a very large ramp up time of many months for us to learn everything. Even something as straightforward as communicating with the unit via Terminal took a long time to get the basics of (basically, you either have EVERYTHING correct in your setup with wires, ports, etc or you get no response back).
Reason for choosing CalAmp
CalAmp would be well worth investing in a short "dummies" YouTube guide starting from the very beginning as it's quite intimidating to go through the literal 1,000+ pages of documentation just to get a basic example going. The 32-bit devices are easier than the 8-bit, but still very very complex. You have HEX-compressed UDP messages (with Lat/Long compressed requiring some serious know-how) that make it a much steeper learning curve vs competitors that allow you to send via TCP and send in standard ASCII often in a easy-to-interpret JSON format.

Good product with poor support
Vehicle tracking and remote data collection
PROSThe devices work well and seem to be robust. The PEG interface is good in that it allows some local processing, but limited in what you can do.
CONSit would be good to be able to write custom local software on the device, to reduce the volume of data sent over the air. It appears that there is a trend to go along tha direction with thier products, but it is still limited to thier peg, or peg2 interface. The change from PULS to DM-CTC has not been good. The DM-CTC platform obviosly is still not fully developed and misses some of the basic functionality that PULS had. Customer support in australia is poor, with questions first going to a local distributor and then passed to a support center in the usa. responses can take days, and are often just left unanswered. Direct contact to calamp for support does reduce the not normaly provide better results.

Calamp - PULS I believe is the best option!
I feel they are needing in some improvement, but are still the best option. In the end, no matter the cost, these device and this software (PULS) combination from Calamp are still number one in my opinion!
PROSThe PULS software allows us to control and monitor devices better than any other devices and it is critical for the best customer service across the board.
CONSWe really need, bulk scripting, a big fix on pg2 control and loading of those pg2 scripts. We need to have bulk loading and pulling scripts. The timer on CRC or 'sign script' needs to be reduced.

Review of new CTC
Overall I think CTC is an improvement from PULS, but a lot of work needs to be done to make it as easy to use.
PROSOverall the CTC is a better look and a more comprehensive feel than PULS, but needs work
CONSjobs need to be assigned for everythingyou can't copy/paste a large amount of devices at once to configure/update firmware, you have to search manually for each devicei have to click "load more" to see simple facts on each device like phone numbers or ICCID numbers

Fleet Management - All in One Software Management Tool
I've used CalAmp Software - PULS, for now closed to 4 years, and throughout that time I can honestly say that they have made it easy for us to manage all Firmware/Builds/Version easily for all of our Hardware Products, all in an all-in-one software management tool!
CONSThe complexity to make 'bulk' changes to all devices/hardwares.

Reporting
My experience with CalAmp has been positive and reports are easy to use.
PROSIn my admin position, I mostly run canned reports for mileage usage to complete annual and quarterly reports to State and Federal agencies. The reports produced in CalAmp are easy to read and can be easily downloaded as an Excel spreadsheet.
CONSI mostly use the canned reports for IRP vehicles. Although the software does allow you to filter on specific assets categories and vehicle numbers, I wish there was a way to filter on IRP vehicles explicitly instead of having to delete non-IRP ones once the report is downloaded.
