Fantastic booking system
We had many issues with our previous booking system. Difficult to use, not easy for people with little experience working with spreadsheets and confusing most of the times. Our department has been using Bookkit for a month and, so far, all the users are really happy with it. It is a clear step forward that is helping everyone using our facility.
PROSThe most important feature is how easy it is to use, not only as a researcher/user, but also as an administrator. The software is clean, clear and allows you to create a booking system that will be of help for anyone using it.
CONSThere is nothing specially wrong. I was trying to personalize the web to use the colours of the department and that is something that you (probably) cannot change. It is a minor (minuscule) issue.

Using bookit for shared university laboratory
It works and is intuitive enough, allows to see what other users have booked.
CONSCan't book multiple slots at once so have to click over and over again on things to make multiple bookings for the next week. Can't change the fact that I get an email for every single one of those bookings, which is annoying and not needed. Can't change the booking retroactively, for example if I forgot to cancel one and wish to change it one minute after the booking has "started" it cannot be done. The website doesn't work at all on mobile phones, it's impossible to make or change bookings from there.

To help you with each one of your points, please see below: - Multiple slots: we have just made recurring bookings available to all users which allow you to book more than one slot in one go. You only need to ask your lab admin to enable this option for you - Email notifications: you can turn these off on the top right corner, clicking on your name and then on "Notifications" - Edit/cancel bookings: you cannot change them in the past for security reasons. However, you can ask your admin to upgrade your role so you can change past bookings. - Mobile version: we are currently making improvements to it but please watch this quick video on how to book equipment from a mobile device -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW6DNoc7Npg I hope these tips will help you having a better experience with Bookkit. Covid measures in a research institute
We loved how easy was to implement it and we have started to explore other possiblities (external service, costings).
PROSWe had to implement the whole booking system for the research institute under the new covid 19 measures. It took us less than a day to place all infrastructure and all users. We run a transition period from the previous system (excel sheets) to the new and in one week we were all using it.
CONSI don't have a the moment anything that I don't like yet. Maybe confirmation of bookings could be done on multiple events at once, but it is something very minor.
Reason for choosing Clustermarket
Other products offered only a trial time and then payment for the service had to follow. Bookkit has services that are on the scale of the academic laboratories (we don't have high budgets. Also service was impressive, I was contacted within 24 h with helpful advise on how to setup the system and if I wanted I only needed to fill up an excel sheet, incredible!

Easy software to reserve equipment
This software is easy to use and implement. We like having all the information about our equipment in one place. We share our facilities with two other companies, so this software is useful to keep track on equipment reservations and usage.

Requires some work to set up, but a good solution for us
It's been ok overall. I have reached out to customer service several times to figure out how to do things that should have been pretty straightforward but weren't due to the usage assumptions that the developers obviously made. Customer service has been responsive - I'll give them credit for that.
PROSThe fact that the free version is so capable is a huge deal. Many other similar packages don't have that kind of functionality in the free version. It's pretty intuitive for users to get signed up and running - not necessarily intuitive for administrators in setting it up, however.
CONSSome of the functionality is fairly counterintuitive. It is obviously structured with the idea that outside people will be requesting access to use your instruments - sort of like a big Clustermarket community. If you don't operate that way (and we don't) then some of the ways in which things work in the software is pretty cumbersome and counterintuitive.

Software visuality, formation able to see weekly, daily, monthly booking slots either available or not
CONSNot all the instruments can be seen at a time or those instruments I am looking for are not able to see using the search button. All the time going through the portal. Also, new equipment adding issue still there!

This software is FANTASTIC and the customer and technical support is EXTRAORDINARY
When COVID-19 hit, we really needed software that could allow us to manage lab use and control for social distancing. This allowed us to book both space and equipment to assure that lab members could plan for the use of smaller spaces, and avoid booking time in the lab for a piece of equipment that would already be in use at that time. I am confident that, even after the need for social distancing has ended, the lab will continue to use the software for booking and managing equipment use.
PROSEase of set up, ease of use, flexibility, fulfills all our needs for equipment and space booking.
CONSNothing. Best system software I have had to use at my institution.
Reason for choosing Clustermarket
Skedda and Robin were primarily set up for conference and shared workspace bookings, and not set up for lab equipment. Bookkit was designed for labs and I honestly don't know what we would have done had we not found it.

Easy to use booking system with excellent customer support
The general ease of use, but more importantly, when needed, customer support was excellent.
CONSThere is not something that I particularly dislike when using this software on my laptop, but it is more difficult to select timings for a booking on a phone.

Clustermarket "Bookkit" is easy to use
Customer service has been absolutely fantastic since day one. Don't think I've waited more than a few hours ever for a response.
PROSThis software is very easy to use for both administrator (my primary use) and end user. Setting up new users and training take little to no time.
CONSUsers are unable to edit their bookings after-the-fact, which is difficult when this is being used for billing (I am doing it all myself). The only way for users to edit past bookings is if they get admin status, which would make it much more difficult for them to use (would see everything vs. just the instruments they can use) and take away the point of the software.

Cost, but also much easier to use than the one one available on our campus

We are already looking at developing a feature that tracks real-time usage, so if a user is finished with the equipment before the pre-scheduled booking time, the system will automatically update the booking information to reflect this correctly. Great for implementing controls due to Covid
Overall it is very user friendly and easy to use.
PROSThe software comes with many features including assigning research groups their own equipment (which they can also be responsible for via the roles of instructors and technicians), it allows charging for the use of the equipment easily, and can place in time restrictions for reopening our lab due to Covid measures. The update recently that allows multiple admin users and viewing other labs/organisations in one makes it much more user friendly and allows for more flexibility.
CONSI feel like multiple bookings could be made easier. Currently users have been block booking for the whole week but then that all falls under "one" booking even if it is across multiple days. Would be nice if bookings that last for longer than 24 hours be separated into separate bookings, so that when we run a report for Covid reasons, they come up as "completed".

Excellent Product and Support
My experience with Clustermarket has been extremely positive.
PROSYour booking system was easy to implement, and it is easy for my users to use. We have a small facility in a university, and I run this facility by myself. I am so grateful that you provide your product to places like ours. In addition, your customer support is excellent! We have been working with [SENSITIVE CONTENT], and she has been wonderful. She responds to my questions quickly and thoroughly, and she has been very helpful.

Reason for choosing Clustermarket
The basic Clustermarket product is free. Because we are a small facility, we generate very little revenue. Calpendo and iLab are very expensive. The free version of Google Calendars was not as good for us because users could accidentally change each other's booking times.
Reasons for switching to Clustermarket
OCF Scheduler was a free software from the University of Arizona. It only worked with an old Mac G5 that we had. When the Mac died, we could not use the software anymore.

Great Program for Risk assessment
Excellent program and one that I will continue to use.
PROSThe ease of use for not only the administrator but the users. This program allows our facilities to track users which is critical for assessing risk due to Covid

Bookkit is a very nice product.
Bookkit is a very nice product, so useful to manage the usage of shared equipment of our research center. Is a very friendly platform, with a large number of options to customize the services according to the needs of each laboratory. Their customer support are really efficient.
PROSThe feature that I really find useful is that we are able to manage different laboratories, with different users on the same platform.
CONSI would like to have more options to customize the schedule of equipments. For example, set more than one time-block at the day where the equipment will be out of service.

We are a research institution and we use Bookkit in Academy mode. We have not found another product that offer as so many services at not cost.

Decent tool for scheduling shared equipment and space usage
I think it is a good tool so far. With the recommended improvements it could be better.
PROSClick and drag to select time ranges for reserving space and equipment. Straight-forward to navigate the pages Dropdown menu for different lab spaces with different sets of equipment to reserve. Ability to have pictures of equipment for the users to know what they are reserving.
CONSThe approval process seems a bit intensive - each time chunk for each space has to be approved unless the user is an administrator, at least with the settings we use. This can be a lot to manage and approve if each user uses a lot of different space and equipment each day. A very useful feature for users that I recommend implementing would be something like saving a reservation profile so that if a user has to use the same set of equipment/space multiple days in a row they don't have to click and reserve so many things for every day - a single click option to repeat a prior days reservation, and be able to give it a title like "DNA Extractions" or "Library Preparation" would make it easy as a user to reserve space day after day.

I had a good experience scheduling and editing existing reservations through cluster market.
PROSEasy to use app on the computer. Lets book multiple slots for several days at a time.
CONSMobile compatabilty can be improved. Notifications and integration to google calendars can be advantageous.

Great FREE software for general equipment scheduling and maintenance!
We were having trouble with instrument scheduling and asking colleagues individually who was using what instrument when. This software has streamlined our scheduling process and reduced down time of high volume instruments.
PROSWe use the groups functionality a lot for permissions and the calendar view is very useful for high volume instruments.
CONSThe calendar sometimes gets stuck on a previous date/view and does not default to "today"

Useful Tool
It is a useful software and was rolled out well in our department.
PROSI like that it is easy to see what equipment is available, and what I can book. It is also convenient that there are email reminders that a booking is upcoming.
CONSIt can sometimes be a little difficult to get the exact timing, and it would be nice to be able to edit or cancel a reservation after it has begun. Sometimes things finish early and we want to indicate that the equipment is free.

Using Bookkit to manage equipment booking in a university research lab
Whenever I've had issues with the system, I have been able to contact the customer support team and get a response within hours. This has been immensely helpful!
PROSIt is perfect for managing shared equipment, especially now that social distancing requirements are in place. Also the customer support is great.
CONSGetting everyone in the lab signed up as a user was a bit of a difficult process, but I think this was exacerbated by the fact that I set our lab up on the system during the update between versions.

It was infinitely superior in its functionality - no other product (that we considered) was so aligned with the needs of a research lab.

A good instrument management tool
It has been quite a good experience to use this, I have been able to manage using the instrument at any time. It ensures the workflow is smooth.
PROSA couple of research groups use this in my institute, it helps multiple teams to effectively manage their time and plan the usage of instruments connected to the software. It offers flexibility by helping to plan well in advance and also accommodates making changes to the plan if there is something.
CONSThe User portal can be made much more simpler. It sometimes takes extra time to navigate and get to the action.
