Constant Contact provides a range of intuitive marketing applications designed to help small businesses and nonprofits expand their customer bases and nurture relationships. Solutions include email marketing, event marketing, social campaigns and reporting, survey management and offer management—all of which are available either independently or as part of an integrated suite called the Constant Contact Toolkit.

Constant Contact’s email marketing application allows businesses to import customer data from spreadsheets or email clients, such as Gmail and Microsoft Outlook. Email sign-up forms can be personalized and embedded on web pages or on Facebook to capture new contacts and build email lists. The system offers hundreds of customizable email templates with drag-and-drop elements and also includes real-time reporting features to track email opens, clicks, forwards, social shares and more.

Constant Contact offers both online and in-person seminars and training to help users improve their marketing efforts.

While I have a main CRM at my full time position that has everything I need, my freelance job requires low to no cost email marketing for small business, so I tried Constant Contact when I got the offer for 60 day free trial from Hostgator. Constant Contact has beautiful templates and an easy to use interface. It is more than capable of doing what I need for email marketing and automation.

Cons

It is not Free for small businesses while there is another option on the market that is forever free that has the same features if not better. That is the only reason I would not chose Constant Contact at this point.

There are a good deal of options out there for email marketing. Constant Contact is a reliable source and used by the bulk of my clients.

Pros

In recent months, Constant Contact has really made an attempt to step up their game. The new design interface has made the design process much easier. An additional plus is their linking with newer companies to make the data received much easier to use. For example, you can link to Shopify, which is a wonderful plus! Makes all of your hard work come to life, as you can see the direct link between emails and sales.

Cons

Currently their is no HTML input and that is very troubling for a more advanced user. The reasoning is the focus on making sure all emails are mobile and desktop ready, so understood. But still a con at this point.

If I can do it, anyone can. It is a good product, especially for those trying to build their contact database.

Pros

This is a good product for someone who is challenged when trying to send e-newsletters, etc. like me I like to think I am tech savvy, but the marketing side of things gives me a migraine. I am sure I would be better if I used it more often. We now have a dedicated marketing person and she loves this product and uses it whenever possible.

Cons

No cons that I can think of. My issues with it are due to lack of regular use. I was only using it a few times a year. Our new marketing person is well-versed on the product.

Pros

We started using Constant Contact as a way to keep in touch with our existing clients and also do some light marketing to prospective clients in the industries we service. Compared to doing blind email blasts, they've allowed for ease of list management and also have been immensely helpful understanding how effective marketing campaigns have been, with data on how favorable recipient response has been and tangible data on how many have unsubscribed or followed through. Managing these client lists manually in the past has been time-consuming and imperfect, having a stable list and being able to avoid accidentally mailing customers who've elected to opt-out is essential.

Another plus is making sure that mailing lists fall under legal requirements, so that you're in compliance with your country's guidelines on email marketing.

Cons

Our experience so far has been positive, we hope this service assists more small businesses keep in touch with their client base.

Cons

It is hard to manipulate the layout. When you change a setting or sentence layout, it doesn't always stick. Also, when we try to move pictures around, they don't easily go where I want them to.

The set up is user friendly. There are a lot of free templates available to get you started. It is nice that CC automatically adds in the organization's saved information (Youtube Channel link, FB link, Twitter, addresses, etc.). The reporting is easy to read. I like that it integrates easily with DonorPerfect.

Cons

I would like to have the ability to have more than 2 photos beside each other some times int he emails. That option is no longer available with the new layouts.

Overall I think this is a great program to use to make contact and stay in contact with your customers and prospective customers. It allows you to build relationships within specific groups and creates a professional and inviting identity for your business.

Pros

Constant Contact is a very user friendly way of creating email blasts to clients and prospective clients or customers. They offer many templates that look professional and creative. They also allow you to customize their templates for a more unique look. The analytics of the email is very helping to decide and design future campaigns based on past ones. I like the ability to create customized lists in order to track and chose who I am marketing to.

Cons

It would be nice to have more options for templates based on industry and themes. Cost is also a factor as you get higher lists it starts to become prices for a small business who has simply been able to get a lot of opt ins. Customizing the template can be somewhat difficult for anyone who is not completely experienced at using them.

Easy to email different groups/individuals with a mass e-mailing. It keeps everyone's email address private. I really like being able to see how the recipients interact with the emails; you know who has opened it, not opened it, who has clicked on a link in the email, or if the e-mail address is incorrect

It can take a long time to set up one email. It also takes a long time to set up the lists of contacts.

Pros

I love the broad selection of templates which I am allowed to choose from for our email campaigns.Its interface is sleek and has got intuitive navigational controls,which makes it easy to get around this software smoothly.I find it easy to segment our email contacts into different lists,thereby making it easy to send specialized marketing emails to each email contact list.
The ease with which we are able to include multi media files such as images and videos to our emails is seamless and of course all templates available on Constant contact ,are mobile compatible.

Cons

It is very expensive and support can definitely be way better and prompt with their responses.

Saved us hours each week over send BCC emails to all our contacts. Allows us to designate address for who gets responses, etc effectively increasing our internal delegation. Great program.

Pros

We use this to remind clients that we are available to serve them and direct them to our online scheduling feature. Incredible easy to recycle previous week's emails, upload updated email address list and send. CAN-SPAM compliant opt-out feature lowers my paranoia and trackable results are mesmerizing to watch as they roll in.

Cons

Wish the price didn't scale up as the number of contacts did. At some point, it may price us out. Also wish there was a feature that allowed us to simply set a recurring email weekly.

For a large firm constant contact is highly recommendable, it does have many perks and helps to keep things simple and easy, for a busy company. For smaller companies I would really use this, but Constant contact is good in its own way.

Pros

Very convenient when it comes to designing newsletter and eblasts. With their custom templates and layouts, you do not have to be a graphic designer to put together a wonderful newsletter. Scheduling the dispatch time and getting the reports is also very easy. Importing email lists to the system is also a simple process, you can just all at once.

Cons

Well, it is a quite a bit expensive for small firms. And definitely not worth for firms sending out quarterly newsletters. Moreover is it not very convenient not having test feature, hard to see how things are going to go. Sometime we did have issues when uploading our designed images, the quality was out of place. We used mailchimp for some clients because of the pricing.

We've been using Constant Contact for years now and the features continue to improve. They really offer a lot of advantages beyond sending promotional emails from your personal account. We particularly like being able to know who opened which email and figure out who is just blocking us all together. The feedback is pretty great.

I think it would be more professional looking if we didn't have to have the "Constant Contact" disclosure information at the bottom of the emails.

Pros

Constant Contact made it easy to set up my first campaign and customized it with my logo, colors and messaging. I didn't need HTML skills or a developer to create campaigns.
Anytime I call support the team at Constant Contact is ready to help. I was even able to attend some local email marketing seminars they offered.

Developing emails and blasting them out couldn't be easier. The analytics are pretty standard but helpful. I haven't noticed a lot of outages either.

Cons

The site is sometimes glitchy. Not a huge deal, but sometimes it is annoying. For example: a few months back when selecting lists for emails, it would preselect the email list you used for the previous campaign so you'd have to physically uncheck that email list or the campaign would go out to the wrong list. It took Constant months to fix this issue.

Easy to use, feature rich, allows for easy audience segmentation and list building. The templates they have are professional and easy to manipulate. You can also create your own and set up all sorts of automated triggers to send out personalized emails on special events like anniversaries, birthdays, pretty much whatever trigger you want. Plus, it has a plugin available for the most common website building tools

Cons

It can get pricey as your list grows BUT I've found that so far, my list is growing at the same pace as my business so the price isn't an issue.

It is important to have your audience actually read your emails. Having the email look inviting to read is half the battle!

Pros

I like being able to create emails that are more visually appealing.

Cons

There are some limitations in formatting in a program like this over an Adobe product, but much easier to use.

Have been using for almost 15 years. Great value for the money.

Pros

Ease of use, ease of use, ease of use. They have upgraded recently, with A/B testing and auto resends to nonopeners.

Cons

No email automation and it lacks the ability to create master/subaccounts, which would be useful to my association.
