Carpe Diem - time recording tool
It is great to be able to time record for clients as a solicitor. I assume that many other sector areas will use this software too, but it is invaluable for us. Training is needed, but once you get the hang of it, it is very useful and gets easier to use!
PROSAs a solicitor, we use this time recording app every day. Its functionality is good, and now they have created not only a desktop version, but also a mobile version. I have got to learn the quicker ways and shortcuts within Carpe Diem, through my consistent use (such as creating nicknames for files, temporary timers and repeat timers). I wouldn't be able to do my job without this software.
CONSIt takes a while to get to know and use this software with ease. It does require training, usually from someone specialist in tech. The design is a little outdated, but it does the job. I don't normally use the mobile functioning, but I have heard that it operates quite well.

Review from a daily user
My Company uses Carpe Diem as our time entry software. Ease of use: It can be accessed on the internet after logging into our internal portal. The desktop interface is easy to maneuver and I like how it has built-in spell check.
CONS1) The phone app is not really easy to use. For instance, carpe diem doesn't let you submit entries before running a spellcheck. However, I've always had trouble running a spellcheck on the phone app. 2) Once the entries are submitted/transferred, there is no way you can recall the entries. I don't like it because sometimes we don't have a matter code at the moment and need to temporarily book it under another matter code. It is just hard to edit the matter code and we need to recreate a new entry and reverse the old entry.

Old fashioned time tracker, needs a complete overhaul or serious update
It was a good time tracker 10+ yrs ago but is now way behind the competition. Needs a fresher outlook.
PROSThe view of the month with all days of entries is useful. However, it would be great if there is an option for all entries to be displayed on one page/multiple pages. This facilitates the search back in time.
CONSVery difficult to find the proper client/name to make an entry. The type of activity is pointless - almost everyone reiterates to MIS. This feature just slows down the whole process. The clients are interested only in a short description of the work done by the relevant professional. Regular downtimes.

Carpe Diem
Ease of tracking time spent on a project, and that the timer retained the time of day it was active.
CONSRemoving active timers was not really intuitive.

Easy to use
Carpe Diem has facilitated tracking my time spent on files greatly with one click of a mouse. It has helped increase my productivity, as it facilitates my billing process.
PROSCarpe Diem is intuitive and easy to use in order to track and enter time efficiently. I have used the software for over 3 years and have never had an issue with it.
CONSThe overall look of the software does look outdated and could use an improvement. However, this does not take away from the functionality of the software.

Gets the job done but incredibly complicated GUI
Look there is nothing too flashy about time entry but it is a necessary evil with most law firms and you need software that will allow time keeper to enter and process their time in an effective and efficient matter. I have used various iterations of Carpe Diem for about 15 years now and it while it achieves the "effective" goal it falls very short on the "efficient" goal.
CONSThe GUI is incredibly complicated and makes time entry incredibly inefficient for time keepers -- needs to have drop downs for 10 or 20 most billed clients/matters and most commonly used task and activity codes.

Slow and outdated
Use this software to manage and keep track of time. However, it wastes a lot of time given how outdated and slow the software is. Need to constantly restart the program. But it is a good way to see a snapshot of a month, week, etc.
PROSEasy to use and learn; fields auto populate, which speeds up process. Timers work well. I like the week view and month views for a snapshot of current timekeeping.
CONSVery slow and constantly crashing and the interface and features are very outdated. Slow response time. Would be helpful to have a countdown for how many hours in a target are left.

Not well thought out
Carpe diem feels clunky and not as intuitive as some of the other billing programs I’ve had experience with. The timer situation frustrates me most as it is a major deterrent from using timers at all.
PROSCarpe diem gets the job done but it lacks the features of more sophisticated time entry programs. I like that you can see all of your time in month, week, and day formats. I like that you can easily add a time entry from the monthly calendar.
CONSI really dislike the lack of an integrated timer that would allow you to immediately transfer the time from the timer into carpe diem. I also dislike that closing carpe diem stops the timers altogether. Finally, I feel like the buttons and features in carpe diem are not intuitive, making it not user friendly.

Necessary evil
It’s necessary to submit time. I’m sure on the backend this manages matters well. But it shouldn’t take so much time and inefficiency to fulfill this administrative task.
PROSThis product gets the work done. It’s a way to input all info for matters as needed in legal practice. It rarely crashes.
CONSSoftware looks outdated. It’s quite clunky and requires a lot of clicks. The timers are difficult to use. There should be easier access to more frequent matters. There should be easier ways to place quick inputs and then edit later for the final time.
