All-in-one great software

So far my experience is great. I'm looking forward to transitioning to this platform permanently for our business needs.

PROS

Easy functionality and business management especially with estimates.

CONS

No dislikes so far. The software is easy to understand.

Reasons for switching to Houzz Pro

Needed more function options to handle business complexities. Also the design software.

Keeping it Real

Being able to run Design and Construct business in the one program is ideal. There are areas for improvement, however overall it has given our clients a better user experience for being able to better communicate our design and build ideas, proposals and updating clients about the project during construction.

PROS

Love that it has the option to provide a well rounded service from start to finish in handling clients from lead stage, to design, quotation proposals and build management. Not many options out there that combine design and construction components in one program.

CONS

Leads that come through are hit and miss. A lot of scam leads. However, have had some very successful leads. Needs little better handling and efficiency across the system and better user friendly interface for the app.

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

That it co-ordinated both design and build together

Houzz Pro Review

I am a fan of Houzz Pro Review! It has been very helpful to me and my business. The features, the functionality, and the ease of use. I've used several project management software programs and I cannot recommend Houzz Pro Review enough.

PROS

Houzz Pro Review has helped me streamline my small business, making proposals and invoicing simple.

CONS

Not a lot of help in the beginning. I asked for a walkthrough in setting up my account and was basically told to go look at training videos. I felt like they were all over me, hounding me when they thought I might use the software for website and marketing but when it turned out I only wanted the project management software the customer service fell off real quickly.

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

Other than studio designer, I looked at Monday again but I wasn't really all that impressed.

Reasons for switching to Houzz Pro

Hated the platform. Not user friendly. I didn't think the accounting was worth it.

Vendor Response

Hi Elizabeth - that's definitely not the onboarding experience we are looking to provide - please reach out to me so we can get you a training session ASAP. Chloe

Great Platform For Architects and Designers

Overall we are very happy with Houzz and hope to be able to continue being one of their Houzz Pro clients.

PROS

I like how it has evolved into a design focused platform, and how its focusing on helping professionals manage businesses. Our primary interest in Houzz was to have an additional portfolio that could be easily found by prospective clients. Next our focus was keeping up to date with customer satisfaction. Currently we have found better and better clients who have found us through Houzz. This company has definitely focused on improving itself.

CONS

The cost is a bit too high for us currently.

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

We focus mostly on the marketing value of houzz, not the project management aspect.

Houzz Pro/Ivy

Right now I am waiting for a response about being billed twice. Customer service is ruining the experience for me.

PROS

I have tried many programs out there for Interior Designers and each is missing something or another. Ivy was great until it sold to Houzz. I do think Houzz has improved over the last 4 years. Houzz checks the most boxes of any of the programs I have tried. Client interface is important to me and they make it very easy for the client to approve and pay.

CONS

Customer service. Cost. All the phone calls. I don't want to use the Leads part of Houzz. Just the project management software.

Lacking features and client interface was too difficult.

Houzz Pro is on its way to becoming the number one construction management platform

It has been great I love its design and 3D tools it has a lot of functions and it is easy to use and set up. Its marketing platform is very useful.

PROS

Integration with marketing, design tools.

CONS

It is slow, it does not have a lot of integrations, or access to use APIs, webhooks and other type of data for sales as well as it needs better time management and cost management features like geotagging for time slip.

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

The marketing integration of Houzz with Houzz Pro and some its very nice tools for design.

Reasons for switching to Houzz Pro

Lack of takeoff features, although it had lots of integrations it seems it was built from a general CRM instead of a Construction CRM

Great software for Interior Designers

Overall houzz is a very valuable tool for my business, and helps our design firm source and track products for our clients

PROS

Our team uses Houzz Pro to source product for clients, track billable hours, send proposals to clients, invoice clients, create purchase orders, and track products through installation. Essentially I view Houzz Pro as a fantastic PRODUCT MANAGEMENT software.

CONS

Some things I dont like about Houzz Pro; it could be much more robust when it comes to helping a manager of a larger design firm manage time and billable hours, etc. I wish there was a dashboard where I could see real time info on who is clocked in for billable time, how many billable hours our team has recorded for the month or year, as well as sales data reporting. I used to own a boutique and used Quickbooks Point of Sale and it had an amazing dashboard where I could customize the reports and see all sorts of important info as the business owner. All that data is inside Houzz but there's not an admin dashboard that at a glance gives you data reporting. Also the CRM feature could be better.

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

I actually use Asana in tandem with Houzz Pro. I chose Houzz Pro over Mydoma though because I personally liked the interface more.

HP... a work in progress!

We do like the system overall! The client facing system is professional; however, there are several enhancements we are waiting for to make this a one stop shop for our clients and our projects.

PROS

We love the room boards and file storage.

CONS

There is a LONG way to go to get the Selections Reports we need without doctoring the documents we export from HP. Also... the online payment options are confusing and have caused us to look foolish as it is not easy to navigate for our clients.

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

Getting into the systems and trying them!

Honest Feedback

My clients love it and for basic invoicing and estimates, i can create and submit quickly and easily in the field. Im taking very little work home now.

PROS

It was quick to set up and start to collect. Payment integration is very good with this program

CONS

For simple tasks, its very intuitive. But going deeper requires some help. As a one man show, I'm not at a desk from 9-5. I cant seem to keep an ongoing dialouge with the help center. If i dont respond very quickly they close the ticket. Im left with scheduling an actual appointment. which means not only do i need to stop production, but also that i need to find a quiet "coffee house usually" placeto set up and get logged in in order to answer a question. Its terribly frustrating.

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

I am still looking for a mid tier CRM because with this particular business, my CRM needs are low in terms of functionality. I currently have a tuned race car, when all that I need is a four door sedan. I'm paying for the excess that isnt necessary.

Reasons for switching to Houzz Pro

I liked Builder Prime. I didnt believe that certain parts of its system would compliment what I'm doing now. Honeybook was created for "artists" It seemed like it would function well, but isa chaotic design. And invoicing with it is terrible.

Great integration of portfolio, website, advertising

I have had a steady reliable account manager who regularly checks in with me to outline new features that were introduced, and even actually created the first version of our website which I subsequently tweaked a bit and personalized, but I was really impressed that she took the time to do this. This is definitely unique in the marketplace.

PROS

I like the integration between our Houzz profile content and creating a website from it. It allows me to keep a portfolio of our work that I can direct clients to along with the creation and management of our website which is hosted by Houzz. It provides a single portal for managing leads from people who choose us in general searches on Houzz such as what they call Houzz Project Match, to leads that come directly through our website which is hosted by Houzz. They all show up in the same place. With the addition of the website tools and a fair bit of customization of our website using them, it has really provided an easy solution for a fair bit of our marketing. I would highly recommend it, especially for a smaller company that does not already have an up to date website. Also, remarkably, since hosting our website on Houzz our organic search engine ranking is unexpectedly high after switching over a year ago.

CONS

I would love even more website creation tools but I also recognize that with more complexity, it might go beyond my capability to use these new tools.

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

As far as I know Houzz is pretty unique. The combination of allowing you to have a public portfolio alongside a website hosted by them, and the opportunity to reach new clients, it is really a unique offering.

Areas for Improvement

Overall, it has been an okay experience. The program is good but in the 4 years I have been paying I have only had 1 prospective client become a client and completed a project. I think that the idea is to pay more to get more areas but so far, I have not been able to the money I have invested in Houzz.

PROS

I like that the program is easy to use. [sensitive content hidden], my sales rep has made all the difference and always convinces me to keep renewing the membership. She is very prompt to reply all of my questions.

CONS

I feel that most of the clients are not serious about their projects. It bothers me that I take the time to reply to their inquiry and they do not even acknowledge it. When I call sometimes, they act surprised. It would be great to ask the prospective client how serious or if they are just searching for ideas.I have met with several prospective clients, and I feel they just wanted my ideas and then hired a contractor to implement them.I would like a better program to draw and present to clients with a better selection of furnishings. The design program only has a limited selection of furnishings. It could be more user friendly.Calls:I do not pick-up unknown numbers, it would be ideal that if a Houzz Rep is calling because they have a match on the phone, that the id says Houzz says HOUZZ, so I know to pick it up.

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

The service that Negla provides on our regular meetings gives me hope.

My experience has being great, I started using Houzz more as a marketing tool, but as I discover the massive amount of tools it provides, I run my entire business from it.

PROS

I have being a user since I open my studio 4 years ago. Over the years I have being very surprised many times as they keep making the workflow more intuitive and keep adding features that make my work much more easier. I can definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to improve their design management and client communication tools. I am sure once you use it you hardly would want to use anything else.

CONS

Houzz continues to improve constantly, so I have the good feeling they they will address some glitches that come here and there. I am not super fan of their calendar appointment integration, I think there is a lot of room for improvement there, it isn't reliable, luckily I add my other booking links to my Houzz templates to overcome this.. and it works for me

Houzz makes my business operate smoothly and teaches me how to run it smarter!

I've been very happy with this program. As a designer I've tried several platforms and this one is the easiest to use, the most updated and offers the most options for the work that I do. There is so much in this program that I can learn to make my business even smarter and I am anxious to learn it all. Meanwhile, my billing and project organization runs like a top and that makes me less stressed!

PROS

I love all the resources for learning how to run my business smarter and smoother. I love the look of it and how easily it integrates into the other tools I use to run my business. Paying bills and managing my many design projects is so much easier and so organized all in one spot.

CONS

The hardest part for me is learning how to use all the tools and then getting my clients to onboard with them. Billing is a breeze, but not all clients want to use a dashboard setting and I struggle to get them to the platform. My biggest hurdle is myself and taking the time I should to learn everything Houzz can do.

Reasons for switching to Houzz Pro

Mydoma was way to complicated to figure out.

All-In-One Sales Tool

Houzz Pro is not BuilderTrend or it's competitors, it's not meant to be. What it is, is a great tool for the boutique, niche or small custom contractors who work in intimate teams and/or one-on-one with their clients to deliver value on high quality projects. [SENSITIVE CONTENT], NOT a project manager for [SENSITIVE CONTENT]!

PROS

I've used EVERY big name software you can think of and although they were very detailed and very useful for the purpose they were designed for none of them were a simple and effective all-in-one tool. That's where Houzz Pro steps in! The Houzz Pro package consists of: a website that's set-up for you, initially, but super easy to modify yourself or by reaching out to your dedicated support staff, a very simple CAD design tool to help bring vision to any project quickly, a mood board, a take-off tool that appears to be a light version of PlanSwift, an estimation tool and CRM. I have used ALL of these tools individually in the past, utilizing different companies for each, so to have them in one simple package is great! The strength of Houzz Pro is in it's simplicity and focus. It is not super detailed in any one of the features so it's best utilized, at this point in it's infancy, to engage clients and help the construction professional get a project's vision presented quickly. In a nutshell, it is a GREAT consultative sales tool. The CAD and mood board features also allow us to share the vision with our team of subcontractors very early on in the process. All of the Pro tools work seamlessly with the Houzz web profile and you can't beat the pricing for all of these features, especially considering that Houzz pretty much owns the higher-end client base on the web.

CONS

If you keep in context what the tool (is) and what it (isn't) then, I don't think there are any cons.

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

Simplicity, features and cost.

Pearl Remodeling

We think Houzz Pro is rapidly evolving and we believe it can beat the level of service that Yelp or other local listings have to offer.

PROS

Our company likes the analytical information, lead generation information, and the profile settings given to us. The information we receive is valuable such as addresses, phone numbers, project information, and metrics we can use to create strategies for our company.

CONS

Although we do receive valuable information, we wish it was easier to download it into a pdf or an excel document. Additionally, we wish the layout of the incoming leads was organized a different way so we can easily see information quickly or sort leads by month, project types, and etc. We wish we could obtain emails of the leads we receive to build an email list. The ultimate dream would be for Houzz to connect to our CRM program Builder's Trend.

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

We choose Houzz because we got too much spam and poor quality leads from Angie's List and Home Advisor. As a contractor that handles full remodeling projects, we are looking to connect with customers willing to spend over at least $10,000 on a remodeling project.

Vendor Response

Hi, Gustavo, thanks for the detailed review and feedback! Houzz Pro itself has extensive CRM capabilities that meet a lot of the needs you're looking for! A review from an avid user

Offer 3D design now, invoice génération for purchases appear very professional, mood boards are easy to use and handy, my customer service manager [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] is excellent and knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Tech support has not always been great at all but it has improved

PROS

Most impactful was the design software and mood boards and 3D option to show myself and clients. It was easy to on-board Houzz pro - Ivy is useful and reliable

CONS

The Houzz pro software design program is still buggy and missing key items such as stairs and a fireplace. Bugs need to be fixed as I have lost floor plans and needed to regain trust in the program. Would be great to be able to customize specific furniture pieces into program and also, if Houzz could be more Canadian friendly, it would go a long way towards improvement. The lead generation is not great so far. Need better quality and legitimate leads to justify what I pay. Most are not interested in any design service and just playing around with the program. They do not return my call when I follow up. I almost have stopped follow up as it takes time and is. It rewarded

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

I was already a Houzz user with a Houzz profile which I was using to get reviews and show clients my work. It was a natural progression to seek lead generation which led to Ivy use (heard about it on podcasts) then into software for design when it came out. Was frustrated with Houzz pro tech issues and lead generation but will still use Houzz for now. Hoping this will improve

We Seem To Be Getting There, New Experience And All!

It is good for an Interior Design firm to have software that tracks projects and incorporates purchase orders into invoices. As well as accounting and time billing.

PROS

I was a longstanding customer with Ivy before Houzz and "the new experience."The transition was easy as well as the learning curb. The library, with the clipper and descriptions built in, has always been a great assist with multiple projects going. It's good for our inter-office to have invoices and purchase orders with pictures of the products on each document. Clients also appreciate the images on their invoices, especially if they are ongoing customers and sometimes don't remember what was ordered. Plus, the client dashboard is a good client relations tool.

CONS

As stated, I was a longtime customer of Ivy and loved every functionality it offered. Although the software transition from Ivy to Houzz merged very well, I have had some challenges with the new appearance and navigation through all the parts. We have been managing, and then Houzz presented the "new experience." All of our templates were changed. We have had to learn new ways of inputting products while setting up new templates for us and the new look. All of these changes have been time-consuming.

Buyer Beware

Our overall experience was good right up to the point where our Administrative email was hacked. We reported the breach immediately and expected HouzzPro to help us reset our account. They clear are not prepared for internet fraud issues. This is dumbfounding since they were handling all of our client invoicing and payments. Their response was there was no one we can talk to, for the quickest response go to our web site and request help there. After doing this, we were informed that they notified the email address associated with the account and they did not give permission to make any changes!!!! Bear in mind we have an assigned rep who signed us up and know who we are. As incredulous as this sounds, this went on for over a week and then we received a notice form our bank we were over drawn. After opening our account, the hackers used the bank account information to make withdrawal requests for over $16000.00 This all started on the 5th of June. Today is June 20th and we still do not have our account back, we had to shut down our checking account, and today one of our clients saw a fictitious invoice on their dashboard. DO NOT TRUST THIS ORGANIZATION WITH YOUR BANK INFORMATION. IT IS NOT SECURE!

Beware of HOUZZ

Once we were signed up and locked into a contract we received a few leads and it was working for a couple years but then Houzz started tagging their own products in our curated design photos (which once you upload them to the site they have the rights to them). After many conversations with our ever changing account reps they finally removed their tags and now suggest their products at the bottom of the page. We cancelled our Houzz Pro account and have actually gotten more leads now that we no longer pay. We also signed up to use Ivy, an accounting program that they acquired and have had just as many problems. There is absolutely no support and we can't get ahold of anyone for days. We are behind frustrated with this company and would never recommend them to other designers.

PROS

We signed up to use Houzz Pro in 2013. It was sold to us as a platform that would help drive potential clients to our Houzz page where we could upload photos and clients could leave reviews. We were able to select our targeted locations and criteria for potential clients.

CONS

They sell you on leads and traffic and it happens for awhile but then it dwindles down and you are left paying an arm and a leg for no leads. They also tag their own products in your photos. Their support reps change constantly and no one seems to be able to help.

Vendor Response

Hi, Jessica, thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience with Houzz Pro. It's ok, but the new 3.0 has not been an upgrade for us.

There are aspects that work great, but there is much left to be done under 3.0. The broken sync with Quickbooks is nearly a showstopper for us because of the impact to our finances when they get things wrong. The support team tries to be helpful, but there is only so much they can do with the bad code in the product.

PROS

It's geared for the industry which is nice, but it seems with each new "upgrade" they are not listening to customers and resulting in bad or cumbersome UX experiences.

CONS

The syncing with Quickbooks breaks everyday under 3.0 projects. Invoices say they sync, but they don't. Bills don't get created even though Houzz says it did, invoices keep syncing non-taxable items as taxable. I've had to hire someone to manually fix the numerous issues with 3.0 just in syncing to QBO.

Reason for choosing Houzz Pro

At the time Houzz had the better product. That is rapidly becoming no longer the case as they competitor products have improved while Houzz is struggling.

Reasons for switching to Houzz Pro

Houzz bought Ivy

Vendor Response

Hi Mike - we'd love the opportunity to talk to you 1:1 - we've been working with a group of designer accountants specifically on the QuickBooks sync and would love to understand what issues you are still having. Please contact me so we can set up some time.
