Preferred POS is an on-premise retail solution that is compatible with Windows operating systems. Key features include point of sale (POS), inventory management, customer management and accounting reports. The solution was built to serve the needs of small to midsize liquor stores, convenience stores and general retail.

Preferred POS has employee management functions such as a staff time clock and multiple security levels with passwords. The solution includes a customer database, which includes purchase history, communication history and standard discounts.

Preferred POS is able to support a variety of hardware such as touchscreen monitors, barcode scanners, receipt and label printers and credit card scanners. The solution is available for purchase on a perpetual license.

Overall, I think Preferred POS is a user friendly and easy to navigate system. It's only downfall is that the system often freezes and you're forced to restart it-losing out on time that you could be spending with your customers.


What I liked most about using Preferred POS was its user friendly software. I used this software for over 6 years when I worked in a well-known restaurant. When I was trained on this software, I picked it up very quickly. The ability to organize different food categories and items made this software easy to navigate. The options for "sides" and "toppings" made this software easy to navigate and kept me giving quick service while being a waitress.


What I liked least about this software was that it would often crash. I can think of many times that the screen would freeze and we would have to perform a hard reset of the entire POS System in hopes that it would start working again. This delayed the service that we were supposed to be giving, and it also made customers wait (to pay, and to order).

This is NOT a customer of ours. Not sure what software they are using but it's not ours. We don't have options for sides and toppings. We also don't have any customers that have had our software for over 6 years.
